Samhain Rituals:
1. FIRE 🕯️
Because this is one of the Fire Festivals, it's important to light some kind of fire. Burn some wood on the hearth, or light a bonfire, or even candles. One of my favorite traditions, even though I’d never seen it in person, is the fire wheel made of straw that villagers would roll down the hill to ensure abundance. I decided to create my own version at home with grass straws that I gathered.
2. Decorate an altar with Samhain colors and offerings such as apples, corn, nuts, pumpkins, bread and fruits.
3. Visit your loved ones where they rest on this date and leave offerings of your own there. Food, flowers, a note, or something that is meaningful to you.
4. Another tradition is to invite the spirits to have supper with you. When you set the table, add an extra plate with food offerings. Then you can leave the offerings of food on your altar or doorstep for the deceased to show respect and reverence.
5. Divinations are very common in this time of the year. Often mothers entertained children by cracking an egg open into a glass of water, and foretelling the future based on the visions created by the swirling white.
