Hi Ron and Justine! As I direct a Music Ministry; I wanted to tell you about " Silent Night" It was written by Franz Gruber! The other guy ( lol) Mohr only wrote the text. Backstory : This Christmas Carol was written the day before Christmas , in an Austrian Alpine village church, because the organ had broken down. The priest, Mohr, gave a poem to the organist , Franz Gruber to set to music. Gruber composed the music on the guitar, and it was sung with guitar on 🎄 Christmas.!! Merry Christmas and I LOVED your caroling!🎄🎄💖💖

I saw that wonderful movie Silent Night about Joseph Mohr several years ago. What a great song about the birth of a Savior for our world!❤ Justeen and Ron my husband and I really have been enjoying your shows that just came up on my husband’s feed recently. We like history and we enjoy watching your shows.We watched the early American first and I subscribed to both of your cool channels. The costumes are also quite lovely. You must have many people that put much effort and time into these interesting episodes❤. Your cabin is sweet and decorative especially lovely for Christmas 🎄. Do you have a show on how you two got into sharing these fine ideas from the past on cooking and living? Thank you for sharing such a pleasant program that has the atmosphere and early American history. Your personalities are fun and entertaining too and you both look like you are a nice couple. Thank you for singing Christian Christmas songs and not being afraid to say Christ. Recently at a concert I noticed they updated Christmas lyrics to remove all God references. It was sad. Christmas will always be about Christ being born for us Christians. God bless you guys and thanks

Interesting that the first Christmas card came in 1840. So Santa Claus came out in 1820. Wow! Thank you for singing 12 days of Christmas. What a long song. First time, that I heard it complete. Merry Christmas Ron and Justine!! I so love watching your videos and the history you share. Something that I learned as a child was that the “Twas the night before Christmas" poem originally listed “Dunder and Blitzem" as the reindeer. I believe it Dunder and Blitzem are Dutch words for thunder and lightning. I think during one of many reprints of the poem, the names became “Donder and Blitzen.” Maybe to rhyme with Vixen. Donner and Blitzen are the German words for thunder and lightning. My mom is a Kindergarten teacher and I am a Pre-K teacher and we teach the children Donder and say Donner is a nickname like purple is a nickname for violet 😊.
