Respect to ASU, they've seen a band damn near every week it feels like, and they've been giving everyone a battle too. Same with JSU. That being said, I got Jackson taking it. I prefer their execution and their arrangements a lot more, although ASU wasnt bad at all. Im excited to see them and A&M, and I'm really excited to see JSU and TxSu as well.

Good 5th! JSU’s book is unmatched this year. These kids look like they’re having fun. From the top down, it looks like everyone enjoys being in The Boom. Bama state has improved. Arrangements are coming along, just clean it up. But, WHERE ARE ASU’S TRUMPETS??? I don’t remember hearing a single trumpet sound coming from MMH and they have 30. JSU for the W.

Yes they articulate quickly! It’s ‘Bama State Style’ like their television show says, they’re not trying to sound like Southern University like so many other SWAC bands at the top lol and they sound clean and groovy asf with it. Y’all say “choppy” as of having chops or the ability to articulate well is a bad thing in the band world. What was “choppy” about that Erykah Badu? Y’all just nitpick everything MMH does. But I love it because their uniqueness is becoming more undeniable. Nobody in the SWAC sounds like MMH.

Why I Zoom? Well, before I started filming bands, I spent 8 years as web developer, graphic designer and band photographer. I created and coded Blackcollegebands.com (1998), which eventually turned into Marchingsport (2002). Site wise I’d set out to create a site that covered games every weekend then post the work online right after the games happened, kind of like an ESPN for bands. I spent most of my time then physically in the stands and on the field photographing Black College Bands. I also captured audio of the Post Game battles. At the time it was MUCH easier to get photos and audio on the web then video (1998-2005). I started filming bands by happenstance. It was kind of the right time and right place for where the internet was at the moment. Broadband connections were starting to become common place in households as opposed to dial up connections. I started integrated video more into my work in 2005, then launched the Marching Network in the Summer of 2006. For those who remember it, the Marching Network was pretty much what RU-vid is now for the Band Community. A place where people went to upload and watch our culture. It was also as I would like to call it “a reverse engineered television network” in that the primary content was Internet Video On Demand, but I also actually had a band television show that aired in several local markets. That first year of doing video wasn’t as exciting compared to what I’d been doing for almost the last decade photographing bands… My objective as a photographer was to show the grit and intensity of the Band World… Capture it as bandheads actually see opponents. It was definitely a trend at the time to simply set a camera in front the band, hit record and walk away. Artistically that wasn’t me. I eventually found a way within video to merge what I was doing via photographer. As a photographer, you are always looking for where the action of the shot is happening at that particular moment. That’s what I’m going for. It seems like a lot of people just think I’m “randomly zooming in”, hopefully this gives you context and a better lens through which to view the work.

Bama Definitely lost this one. Boom was better from the 1st song to the last. & they one slip up at 5:20 ended it all for Bama State. They played really good, but JSU was Great.
