Ah, the Mercury Montego. If this car were a person, it would be the bloke at the back of the pub telling war stories that you're not entirely sure you believe but are enthralling nonetheless. Launched in the latter part of the 1960s and running strong into the '70s, the Montego was Mercury's attempt to stick it to the American muscle car culture while adding a sprinkle of refinement, or so they thought.
