Join me in this thrilling journey as I put the Radxa Rock 5A with the powerful RK3588s Rockchip SOC and a whopping 16GB of RAM to the ultimate test in emulating a wide range of classic video games! 🕹️🚀
🥔 I kick off with a bang by diving into the retro realm of the Commodore C64, testing Mayhem in Monsterland. This game is so classic and easy that even a potato could handle it!
🕹️ Next up, I traverse through the Sega Master System with games like Asterix and the Great Rescue, The Ottifants, and Psycho Fox. Witness how the Radxa Rock 5A effortlessly takes on the 8-bit challenges.
🎮 Transitioning into the 16-bit era of gaming, I explore the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and delve into the action-packed TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist and the groundbreaking Virtua Racing, the sole game to utilize the Sega Virtua Processor (SVP) on this console.
🕹️ Moving forward, I step into the 32-bit realm with the iconic Sony Playstation. Experience the nostalgia as I push the Rock 5A to its limits with Bloody Roar 2's fierce battles and Crash Bandicoot's wacky adventures.
🎮 The Sega Dreamcast takes the stage next, and I tackle the emulation challenge head-on. Witness the evolution as I transition from RetroArch to a native Android Dreamcast emulator for games like Dynamite Cop and Sega Rally 2, pushing the resolution to a stunning 1600x1200 pixels.
🕹️ As I reach for greater heights, I delve into the realm of the Playstation 2. While AetherSX2 attempts to emulate Shadow of the Colossus and God of War 2, I'll explore the nuances of emulation in native resolution.
🎮 Finally, I wrap up this gaming odyssey by conquering the Nintendo GameCube using the Dolphin Emulator. Feast your eyes on Luigi's Mansion running smoothly in Full HD glory!
From nostalgic pixelated adventures to more modern classics, my journey through gaming history showcases the Radxa Rock 5A's capabilities in the world of emulation. Join me for this immersive experience as I push boundaries and relive the magic of gaming's golden ages!

Been a year since the youtubbers like Taki Udon, ETA PRIME and others showcased the RK3588 soc and it looks like the PS2 emulator stills needs a tiny bit of tweaking to get GOW running at a solid 60 fps, would be awesome if they could get it running at a solid 60 fps at 2x resolution... even 1.5x res would been sweet.

In my opinion, it stands and falls with proper GPU drivers. And there is still a lack of them. But I'm not a driver programmer, so I keep my feet still to criticize the development. A lot has already happened but it still lags behind. Maybe it will be something with the Raspberry Pi 5. Four Cortex-A76 is no longer state of the art but on par with the RK3588 even if it misses the Cortex-A55 cores. The larger developer community could lead to better driver support. It is too bad that Broadcom does not have a SOC with Cortex-A78. After all, nvidia has been selling a SOC based on the Cortex-A78 architecture (ARM v8.2 64-bit CPU) since 2020 with the Jetson Xavier NX for three years now.

@@tianonly To be honest, I don't think it is appropriate to compare RockChip with nVidia as RK3588 cost only a small fraction of nVidia's Xavier. Btw, Orange Pi version of RK3588 SBC seems to perform better than Raxda's now. What do you think?

@@edrd6257 the Xavier NX, three years ago when it was released, was more affordable than it's now. Nvidia charge a crazy premium for their devices. But honestly, they can because they are really good. And not designed with the end consumer in mind. So yes it's not fair to compare them because they are for totally different markets. Or is it? For me, I have the hope one day to have an ARM powered computer for my basic tasks. The technology is here, they just don't implement it. And if they do it, like Nvidia, it's only for industrial use. Seriously, at the end of last year, when I was searching for something I had the Asus Thinkerboard in my hand. I decided to look how it's doing today compared to the Jetson Nano which should be a no-brainer, that the Jeston outperform the old RK3288 on the Thinkerboard. But surprisingly, both running on the latest Linux from the official websites, the Thinkerboard did beat the Jetson Nano at playing RU-vid videos. So comparing a Xavier NX with the Rock 5, yes can do. Because I don't compare them on the field where they are specialized for. Like compare a sedan with a station wagon but without paying attention to the bigger trunk load capacity of the station wagon.

There is another video showing the GameForce Ace playing the same "gods of war" game at lightning speed, compared to this one having a bit slowdown. If that's true then the GameForce unit should beat RP4 and go up against Odin2 😮
