some of my favs sometimes you cant beat a classic banger of a hymn (i think thats where some modern churches go wrong i love playing these on the organ my self
I am one of the fortunate ones whose American church sings almost all of these hymns on a regular basis. And our organ is a 4 manual 94 rank Casavant of recent vintage. Our American organist got his degrees from both Yale and Eastman before spending a few years as the first organ scholar at Royal Albert Hall and then on to Canterbury Cathedral as the Assistant Organist. Somebody in our congregation quietly and anonymously ponied up quite a chunk of change to steal him away! But it also shows the cut of cloth we have for a senior pastor that this sort of music is what we desired to have to truly worship God. The choir consists of multiple music majors from the local University and far more members with music degrees already logged in our backgrounds. We are blessed. And in East Texas we truly are a one-of-a-kind church! For our Fine Arts Series, we recently had Peter Holder of Westminster Abbey perform. It was heart stopping! Having played at the funerals of both Prince Phillip and then Queen Elizabeth, he next played for Charles’ coronation. As my 88 year old mother had watched Elizabeth’s coronation live 70 years ago on a tiny black and white TV, and then her funeral services live again now, this concert by Peter was for her the ultimate capstone to mark both ends of that remarkable era of history which she had lived completely through that exceeded even that of Queen Victoria. It’s been weeks now but she’s still floating on air. As I said, we are blessed. And grateful.
Wow…yes what a delightful blessing. If you don’t mind sharing, what church in East Texas? If not, that’s okay. Just curious. I live in the Panhandle of West Texas.
@@judithhardin2783 I’m at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler, TX. We have a IV/94 Casavant organ and the church stole our organist from Canterbury Cathedral where he was the First Assistant Organist. He had also been an organ scholar at a couple of other English cathedrals and was in fact the first organ scholar at the Royal Albert Hall. His degrees stateside are from Eastman and Yale after being introduced to the organ at Interlochen. He’s currently also now working on a as DMA in harpsichord at North Texas.
Very neat! I love that some churches are keeping their traditional piano and organs! I am blessed to be apart of a church as well that sings traditional hymns every week with piano accompaniment as well as some weeks the organ is used. Wish it was every week with the organ, but not many people can play it anymore. @@bobbyhendley3084
@@bobbyhendley3084 I am a classically trained mezzo soprano (vocal performance at Baylor) and sang for years in Presbyterian and Anglican churches in New Orleans. A dear friend, Rachelen Lien, was President of the Organ Historical Society. She introduced introduced those of us in church music in New Orleans at the time to many fine organists and builders when they visited. This RU-vid site is a bright spot on the Internet. As a native Texan, I cannot be more proud of this glorious music from Tyler.
I live in Texas and I have never been in a church building as grand as the one you played the magnificent hymns at. How can anyone not be spiritually awakened and totally committed to Christ in such a Heavenly environment? If I resided near this church, I would attend every service. Already, just after the first two songs played, my voice is going out, from singing along. Never have my ears heard such a stately version of Praise The Lord, The Almighty. One of my favorite songs is Eternal Father, Strong To Save, because I would not had been born, had my father not been saved after a ship he served on sank. Thank you Mr McVeigh for caring enough to preserve our Christian heritage through these amazing videos. May God cause a special blessing come to you for your devotion to Christ and service to His church family around the world.
There is something Majestic about pipe organs, such beautiful melodies! To God be all Glory, honor, and Praise!! Many thanks and Blessings to the Organist!
We still play the beautiful old hymns in our church. I have the privilege of playing them on our organ. I praise the Lord for the beautiful gift of music. I ask Praise Him for His gift of salvation
This awesome music reminds us of our priceless heritage as Christians, and especially those of us of English descent. No more ennobling hymns have ever been, or will ever be written for the great pipe organs of England, and the featured organist is amazing. Watching him is to see a man completely involved with the great organ to create music in praise of GOD.
Ah, the hymns of yesteryear that I miss so much. Our churches in America have pretty much gone to praise songs. Some of the praise songs are okay, but I fear most will not be remembered or hummed 20 years from now. It makes me sad that we've robbed the younger generation of our hymn/psalm heritage.
Good churches do the great hymns of our historical past; good churches do proper praise songs; GREAT churches do BOTH. And there are so very few doing both.....
Bom dia!
@@neuzeliasbahrmilke369 That is very encouraging. In my own life, we left our traditional, orthodox church in 2006 for a theological reason and joined a parish that uses mostly contemporary Christian music. Our son didn't care for it and remains to this day at our former church who uses only organ, liturgy and classic hymnody. He loves the ancient ways and I support that, except when he belittles our church's musical style. I remind him that good churches do only orthodox, traditional liturgy and hymns and that good churches do solid Christian contemporary musical style but GREAT CHURCHES find a way to DO BOTH. "Something for everyone" is not a bad concept, even within the church but it IS very heartening to know that, like me, so many yet prefer the hymns and pipe organs of old. Thank you for sharing that.
I thank the Lord that I can attend a church where hymns are sung to the tunes from such a magnificent instrument to the glory and honour of God Almighty
Loving hearing and knowing these glorious hymns is so inspiring and lifting it so suppose to bring one closer to God music being the language of the soul the Godly spiritual music especially played on the pipe organ divinely brings me closer to God in Nassau Bahamas love it
I am mesermized with the beautiful hymns you have been playing. The organ is the best musical sound to listen to as we are in touch with God. Some hymns bring tears to my eyes and the beautiful churches in England are delight to my soul thank you.
This was just lovely thank you. As I was working in the kitchen, I had this playing in the background. Nothing beats the old hymns played by an organ, in my thoughts!
Rousing and inspirational hymn playing!! I love your use of the 32's, 64's and the En Chamades!! If heaven exists then let me enter the gates with this.
This is the best video yet !!!!!! First went to Europe in 1995 to ride motorcycles through the Alps. Would always start in Munich. Been there about 13 times over the years. Each time I would spend a little less time on the bike & a little more time in the cathedrals listening to those great organs. The best sound in the world. Big thanks for taking me back to those days. Excellent sound & camera work. As close as I can get to being there, even gave me goosebumps. It is that good.
I remember singing some of these, its wonderful to hear them again played with such skill and emotion. My Uncle Jim would had loved this so much. Also, thank you for the words so I could sing along. Very uplifting. Peace and love to all.
Impressive! Glorious, deeply moving and inspirational. A true praise of our Almighty God and Savior. May music like this inspire the Christians of the world to unite in common purpose to witness our Faith, live a purposeful and Holy life in the face of the difficult and awful tribulations of the current time.
Master Ricard playing these beautiful hyms with passion which stirs my sould....feeling the spirit of God all over me. Blessing to you Richard. We love the hymns... greetings to wife and child.
@@ExplodingPiggy No, it goes against my conscience to deny that this generation among whom I also am guilty is heading towards destruction. Tankfully God saved a wretched sinner like me, glory be to Christ!
When Richard played "O Thou Who Camest From Above" I lost it again. God only knows how lovely that piece of music is and what it does to my heart and soul when I hear it played so perfectly on the Pipe Organ Thank you Sir Richard Mc
I'm a trumpet player at my church. The trumpet would be lost without the pipe organ. I'm afraid the pipe organ is not lost without the trumpet. It's a stand alone instrument.
I have truly been blessed today listening to the great hymns played on the King of Instruments. It was a much needed enhancement to my Sunday worship. Your ministry gift is simply amazing. God bless you, and thank you. 🙏
What a nostalgic trip, spellbinding in sound and vision, where has our nation gone? These beautiful buildings so empty today. Superb control of these lovely instruments, a pleasure to watch.
MAGNIFICENT!! 100x's over! I keep returning to this video & it is even MORE wonderful with each playing... Is that possible? YES, indeed! As I listen to this glorious music, I "tour" these amazing cathedrals. Thank you for this holy gift of sight & sound for all listeners.
Gorgeous and wonderfully expressed renditions of some truly powerful hymnody....and I'm thrilled to see another organists playing pedals without shoes!!! You do a wonderful job pulling stops and keeping the music going. God bless.
Awsome! Must be so ecstatic to play such a magistral instrument that takes up a whole city centre! Wish I was there to enjoy it live. Thank you so much for your play and recording!
An impressively prompt response to my comment on Llandaf! I’m afraid my hasty comment on the really important aspect, the music, was somewhat cursory. This is a fine collection, beautifully played with well chosen registrations and perfectly judged tempi. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. A visual and auditory delight! Beautiful. (My mother and I used to enjoy watching and listening to Diane Bish perform, a TV program years ago.) The hymns were so beautifully played. Blessings.
Your videos are so inspiring, and this one is top notch! These instruments are so very beautiful to hear and to see. I studied about pipe organs when I was younger (1970's) and never dreamed I would ever get to hear and see so many well known and beautiful instruments! Yet, 50 years or so later, here I am, experiencing a dream come true on your channel. Yes, you do make a difference! Your performances are always a delight to hear and watch (love the PIP pedal work). You put out so many beautiful videos on RU-vid... all I can say is THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Just found this ama,ing channel. Thank you Richard for bringing these wonderfu! hymns to us on these magnificent instruments. For me, this is how worship should be.
My husband plays the organ every Sunday, two services. It’s amazing how many people are so thankful that he plays and that our church uses a lot of hymns and then a little bit of the new ones. There’s nothing like an organ in a church. And heartbreaking. If there’s an organ, they don’t even use.
Thank you Richard for another wonderful VC. Sunday is not complete without Virtual Church, and today you did not disappoint. May all the blessings of this joyful season be with you and your family 💕
What i,ve wanted for years x yearsx didnt realise! Tunes that should be used all the time , i,ve been putting hymn words to salley gardens for years! And forty days i used as a lullaby tune when rocking my baby son. Thank you so very much.may you all have the happiness you’ve brought je. With love karen

Maestro you put me in a total trance, I’am absolutely mesmerized by your command of the King of all instruments God love you and take care of you so you can play for all his children With much love w respect Richard USA 🇺🇸
Masterful work, sir! Love hearing the rich sounds of your chords produced on that amazing creation of mankind and of God. I also love watching you work...I have played pianos and organs by ear since my earliest recollections, so I can appreciate first hand your total command. Fascinating and inspiring...thank you and best regards from the USA.
Richard you are magical on the pipe organ. I know the hymns so well, having gone to boarding school in Hastings NZ in 1950's!!. Our son sends your videos from London. Many thanks.
I have always been a great fan of organ music, and now at 74 I listen to it all. Great music, that of the hymns and sensational organs, exceptional organist, who causes joy in listening.
Thank you for the work you put into this. Excellent, solid material you have chosen. When I saw the title of the video, I thought it must surely more of those popular, happy-clappy, tin-horn ditties which have so swamped the music of the church here in the United States for the last hundred years or more (largely the result of American Revivalist movements of the 18th-19th centuries.). Thank goodness, you broke that mold and gave us the grand music ! I think it was St Augustine of Hippo who wrote, "He who sings, prays twice." I grew up with the great, traditional hymnody of the Anglo-Catholic C-of-E world, and finding it here again in your video gives me great delight. Thank you, Sir, from a Traditionalist in the Queen's often-uncultured and often-uncouth Colonies !
The only organ notably missing is Wells Cathedral. it’s such a great loft organ and the cross piece gives such dynamics to the sounds. If you’re ever in the area, go take a peek!
Thank you dear Richard, God bless you - and tahnk you for starting with the incomparable "Jerusalem", you have brought much joy and the Spirit of the true and Almighty LIVING GOD.
