I didn't not know that. Another Tommy Scholtz who basic did the same thing with Boston's first hit except Brad Delp, RIP, sang the tunes. I used to have this CD but, kids got a hold of it a few years back and now sadly gone.
@johncampbell756
@johncampbell756 2 года назад
@@michaelmayfield3158 Aldo, unlike Tom, also played the drums. Tom squeezed Sib Hashian's (sp RIP) kit into his basement. And, as you know, the final track on Boston was recorded by the full band in Los Angeles, which is why it sounds different. The only negative about learning how Boston came about was learning that the seemingly autobiographical "Rock and Roll Band" was BS as the band had never played live before recording the album.

Pretty sure that Aldo Nova played lead on Bon Jovi's first album and Ritchie came on board after & had to play Aldo's riffs for the rest of his life. For me, had the cassette and thought this song was an appropriate introduction of myself as it was the first song I "cranked". There were no lyrics in the tape and long since forgot about this guy and this song. So today was the first time I saw all the lyrics. Don't think I got the coke reference back on '82. Not much more on that album was or is memorable, but we bought the whole thing, so we'd listen to the whole thing good and bad. Sometimes we'd grow to like other songs that didn't seem so great at first listen. We didn't always need instant gratification back then. Not saying that today or yesterday was wrong, just different and tomorrow will be as well. Enjoy your videos and look forward to seeing more!

Thank God for Canada in the early 1980s. As a child of the 1970s, rock and roll was all but dead by around 1980. In smaller markets ( I lived in upstate NY back then) hard rock radio stations were being reborn as soft rock stations. Almost overnight, the only hard rock I had to listen to was my own record collection. However, Canada continued to churn out some great hard rock like this, Triumph, Red Rider and others.

A little story. Years later after this came out I was working at a Walgreens and we had a new lady name Caroline who became our Cosmetics specialist. She was probably late 20s and I was 19 and I was in charge of teaching here how to take inventory etc. I use to drive her home as her husband would drop her off and she'd have to catch rides home. One day I'd let her read a "new song I wrote" called Just a Fantasy(this song😂). She looked it over and loved it, but was changing a few words/lines to make it more Motown sounding. As a black woman she was all telling me to get a record label and sing it.🤔 Well. One day taking her home I popped in the cassette and handed her the words "I'd written" and man you should have seen her read/singing it. She legit thought it was me singing playing the song on tape.🤦‍♂️😂 When I went to drop her off I told her it wasn't me etc. Man she was pissed! Lmao. She thought I was gonna make it big time and she wanted to be my first fan.🤷‍♂️

Aldo Nova refers here specifically to my hometown of Montreal, where he was, like me, a teen during the 1970s and aa young man in the 80s. Downtown has all kinds of distractions for the young generation of any era, and is well worth visiting. Also, until the 2000s, those luxury Downtown highrise apartments were dirt-cheap, compared to other cities in North America. I loved living there, being able to walk anywhere in 20 minutes or less, beautiful women famous around the world for their elegance.

A lot of us liked this song because it was one of the first times we had ever heard of anybody performing all the music on the album every instrument

I comment on your stuff to often... BUT you keep listening to shit that I have so many memories and stuff that has affected me as a musician today. Naturally this was rock guitar god stuff back in the day and IMO still holds up. Yet another song that lead to me playing guitar, fun song. Imagine 12 years old at the arcade cruisn' for a lil chickadee. Hehe, omg what memories... Thanx you guys.

@Brad & Lex, I grew up on this music. I am 55 now and still listen to it LOUD. Its really enjoyable seeing how much Lex really gets into the songs. Brad, you are also quite entertaining and watching you guys get into some of this music reminds me of how much I loved it in the 80's and still do today.

This song takes me back to the last year I was innocent, the last year I actually played with friends like a kid does, we danced to this song and made up a routine to it, and laughed a lot. I really wish I could go back sometimes, and change certain things... but I will forever love this one hit wonder!!

Brad, dont get jealous... But as a kid of the 80's, I love when Lex has her big hair and bangs to songs that rocked back in the day! Big Hair needs to come back!

You HAD to be there, when jams like this were cranked in your car, and times were just happier... ahh, the 80's

*This is the quintessential '80s rock song.* This is what ALL rockers back then were trying to replicate.

Songs like this stir up memories of junior high and high school and the friends that we lost during those times. Still makes me sad because I can still see there faces and our interactions whenever I hear our favorite songs of that time.

Near the top of the list of songs that the volume knob gets turned up and broken off when it comes on the radio while driving. The guitar solo in this is fire in a bottle. Great song.

Best part of this great song is the solo. It’s raw and gritty and I like how the individual phrases bounce back and forth between the left and right speakers.
