This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.

This performance is among the highest forms of art. I first heard/saw it four years ago. It was then that I decided that Diana is the greatest vocal artist of our time. Since then, I have seen many great singers. I haven't yet seen anyone that I've thought is a greater artist.

One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. The author of song is begging the horses to slow down (he is aware he is approaching death), but, at the same time he is whipping them along (his chaotic lifestyle) - he knows that his lifestyle is taking him to an early death, however, he is unable to change it.....the composer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor as well as an alcoholic & drug addict and died in 1980 at the age of 42. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lu8iW9BcWmY.html . The ups and downs is called "Yodel" This song is very difficult to sing since it involves all the vocal techniques in the book but Diana killed it at the age of 14 because she is simply THAT good. Here is a tip, when you upload videos from that competition do it as "private" or "unlisted" then make an appeal for the blocks and they will be released in one to two days, then turn the videos to public and you will not lose uptime.

Thank you for reacting to this song, it is one of my absolute favourites. To me, it feels so ancient, from a time when humans did not consider themselves separate from nature. Sometimes it makes me cry when I listen to it, other times it gives me chills in the best possible way. Diana is simply incredible, and we are lucky that she is sharing her voice and her spirit with the world ❤

Когда каждая клеточка чувствует её голос, силу её эмоций именно в такие моменты историческая память пробуждается) На третьем концерте Реченьки не было. Диана очень много лет её поёт, третью часть своей жизни, её можно понять... Но я всё же не перестаю надеяться, что когда попаду на четвёртый концерт Дианы, то Реченька снова будет! Tazzz, first a little background. Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003, in a far eastern territory of Russia. Diana's biological mother physically abused her, and at the age of three, she was left at a bus stop in the winter with a broken collarbone. Diana's biological aunt rescued Diana from the street, but was unable to care for the her. Diana's aunt made a statement about the abuse to the local prosecutor, and it was agreed that Diana should be turned over for care to an orphanage which provided care to abandoned young children in the general area. Diana’s performance of Rechenka, a Russian folk song sung in her native Russian, was recorded on the 12th of May 2018, when Diana was only 14 years old and a contestant on a Russian vocal competition called “You Are Super”. Diana’s performance had many vocal professionals saying she was showing a low, deep, rich and resonant sound, and her stage presence was well beyond what the majority of 14 year old girls were capable of. Back to the May 12th 2018 performance of Rechenka. People were curious and asking questions about Diana’s low voice. The tone, the deep and resonant quality of her voice had many asking about her vocal range, so I found the following: the year before the “You Are Super” competition, in 2017 when she was 13, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, which puts her firmly as an Alto voice type. This first vocal measurement was taken when she competed on the “The Voice Kids Russia”. This first vocal range measurement of Diana was low for a 13 year old girl. She did not have her vocal range checked again until 5 years later with her appearance on a 9 week vocal competition called “ShowMaskGoOn” that premiered on September 25, 2021. She also has exceptional tone quality and breath control for a 14 year old. Her musicality was noticed by some stage performance professionals. The song "Rechenka" (affectionate from the word "river") is a Russian folk ritual wedding song. There is a version that this song appeared before Christianity, and since early Christianity and paganism were closely intertwined, there are many versions of this song. It tells how an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about how my mother, father and brothers were killed by enemies, there is no one to take care of her. The river in Ancient Russia was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. You hear an ominous whisper, it's the spirit of her late mother responding to the girl's crying. There are about 30 variants of this song, but the content of each of the variants is based on the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for family, to strangers. There are other versions of this song, where the heroine appeals to her brothers and even to her parents with a call to return to earth in the form of a bird to her native home. At the end of the song, the girl sails away to a strange tribe, to a strange family. The roots of the song go back to ancient Russia, it is a very, very ancient folk folklore.
