I currently have four Babolat Pure Aero 2023 tennis rackets and they all make these strange noises. They're not identical, but they're all super annoying. You can't play any of the racquets without a dampener. Two of the four were so out of spec that I had to send them in for tuning. Noise aside, the racquets play well. A lot of spin, a lot of power ( controllable ) and also enough control ( what can you expect from such a frame geometry in terms of control ). I'm currently testing different strings: Babolat RPM Blast, Mayami Big Spin and Grapplesnake Tour Sniper... Mayami is pretty impressive up to date. Besides the shitty sound, I often have problems in my left wrist after a hard match. I play a two-handed backhand and don't usually have these problems. I am now testing the Head Speed MP and the Head Extreme Tour... let's see how these racquets perform. Unfortunately, I'm not someone who can play with a racket for a long time ... trying it out is just too much fun for me.
I played with the old Babolat…. And it is very stiff … got tennis elbow with it … so did 10 other guys I know that played with the racquet.. I like the new one it’s not as stiff I have better control with it and feel, and I don’t hear that sound at all … I string my racquet at 57lbs..
For sure there will be people like you who enjoy the new racket much more because of the plush feel. But I don't agree that a racket can cause elbow problem when you are 100% healthy, with good technique and optimal string setup and tension. Most of the times tennis elbow is a result of other issues or wrong string setup, hitting the ball late, lack of proper regeneration etc. Some people have a bigger chance to have the problem with tennis elbow and some will never experience it no matter what. Blaming the racket is not always the case as many fans of the previous stiffer versions will confirm.
Well you are partially right I am 100 💯 healthy … it’s part of my technique that caused it and I think most players at my level 4.0-5.0 don’t always have that pro coach to correct the swing … but I can definitely feel the difference in racquets as far as vibration… try playing with a clash .. compared to a Babolat .. big big difference on the arm.. my problem was not following thru and stoping the swing witch would vibrate up my arm … love the content keep up the good info .. thanks
Other than the center mains being closer together, I wouldn’t sweat about the spacing difference of 0.5mm to 1mm from row to row since that difference has to do with how the strings are strung. I’m a stringer and if u look closely at every racket all the strings don’t all come through the center of the grommet holes. U can see from the center row the 2 strings rests on the outside edges of the grommet holes while for row 2 the 2 strings rests on the inside edges. And this alternates as u go from row to row contributing to the spacing difference. That said I can’t rule out that they messed up on the drill pattern during manufacturing of certain rackets that should be considered defective. For example I’ve seen some people with a Blade Pro having certain gaps being too big while I own the same exact racket and mine was perfect without that problem.
Good point, but not valid for this case. I measured the space between the holes and not the strings. I measured it from the center of the holes on the frame. It took me about 1 hour to measure them, so I was pretty detailed about that.
@@CzechTennisGuy I measured the old 2019 version, and it has the same "unpredictable" spacing between the strings. Same goes for a Speed Pro 2022 and Blade Pro.
My ezone 100 also had this weird pingy vibrating noise. Changing strings helped. It was either bad string job, old strings (hyper g 1.25) or maybe both:) No pinging and vibrating sound with new stringjob and poly tour rev. I also don't have than pinging sound in my Pure Aero 2023.
I play with the aero banana (2019) with 6.5 grams added to the hoop. Demoed the 2022 and it felt like a toy. I thought it was just the weight, since I’m accustomed to the added weight in the hoop.
Yeah, exactly. The PA 2023 feels like a reduced version, lite version compared to the older generations. The lower swingweight maybe increased the manooovrlbity, but took away the raw power and spin. I feel like Babolat did messed up the DNA of this racket too much.
Mark Sunsait complained about grummets design: the strings are touching the ground. But no mentioning of the noise. I'm very intrigued what is could be, I wonder why it's not widely reported. Maybe you got a defective frame?
I think this is not a defective frame. It's a demo that was used by few people for just few hours, it's brand new. I looked at the frame in a detail and there is no sign of crack or anything that would suggest the frame is broken. More players report that noise in the comments so it looks like it might be some design problem. Still I can't be sure until more people start tlking about it.
All my Aeropro Drive 2013 GTs sound exactly the same. So the noise doesn't come from the new technology. Do you also experience that on the Plus Version (extended Version)?
The specs are great with this demo racket (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gert5dqHKb0.html), it just doesn't feel right when hitting with it.
I don't think that Babolat will send out for a review purpose a defective demo racket. From what I know, only 2-3 people did hit with this racket before I got it in my hands. So it is brand new.
I don't think the grommets are the problem. I checked them, no grommet is broken or loose. Interesting is that the same noise is there when I hit the frame on my palm, not the strings. It's like the noise comes directly from the inside of the frame. But no cracks or sign of a broken frame. What disturbs me the most is the lenght of the noise, which you can hear after the strings stop moving. It's like some musicial instrument. Maybe Babolat just accidentally created first tennis racket guitar :-D
Tennis Guy, you should know that some babolat racquets been making that noise for more than 10 years mate. Also the fact that you got a perfect spec racquet makes you really lucky, that also been a problem from long ago. I also got to say that my 2019 B aero is having the same noise but not from day one. Just few sugestions: 1) Do more research before giving your thoughts. 2) try more than 1 racquet at the same time 3) please know that your opinion is only your opinion, some of you youtube guys talk like the "tennis god" and later complain when the manufactures don't send you racquets to avoid not precise opinions from intermediate level players. for example in my opinion there is no problems with the new aero, actually this was babolat just fixing a lot of really really well known problems with the racquet and you should know that. why is more flexible: because we ask for it for long time why is more control; also because we ask for it for long time why less power: because we ask for it too why more confortable: because we ask for it too
Thank you for your comment. I'm not a god, ba far far not. I'm just talking my things and my thoughts and if you like it, stay and if you don't, just correct me and we can all learn. You can also start your own youtube channel if you feel you have something so share, so why not. I agree with your points, but the only problem is the amount of time and resources I have. If it was it just me, I would love to do this channel as a full time job and focus only on that with all the details, but I don't have. I'm trying my best, sometimes even much harder and much more detailed compared to Tennisnerd and othe much bigger youtubers. But hey, it's not over yet. It's never over and every day we get better, right? To the last part of your comment - I don't know who asked for the things you mentioned, but I know certainly that many pro players including my cousin, number 212 in doubles and 362 in singles on WTA tour, they're not switching to the new Pure Aero. If you get used to a stiffer frame and you're like 20-23 years old, you don't want a different experience for another couple of years. You need the same power and stability. My cousin bought last week 5 Pure Aeros 2019, so now she has about 10 of these rackets and she loves them. I talked to her father, my uncle, about the rackets and Babolat brand. They live in Germany and he is sponsored by Babolat for more than 20 years. He told me, that nowadays the support from Babolat is horrible, the worst in the history, they don't innovate, less and less players are using the rackets especially between 20-25 years, which is crucial and sales are going rapidly down. I feel like the brand is literally fading away and slowly dying. And that comes from a person, myself, that I played 20 years with Pure Drives rackets and I loved them. Now there are couple of other brands taking small bits from the cake and Babolat is the one who is having the stomach more and more empty than ever before. People generally hate changes and this last Pure Aero is a step in the wrong direction in my opinion. But it's only my opinion and you can argue about that for sure. I just explained all the details why I think it's not doing well and will not do well in the future.
Thousands of people ask for those improvements including myself. Just do some research and check some interviews and you will find out. In my humble opinion, very good improvement, closer to the first version which is very popular among experts, even Nadal himself
@@jhontroll4612 Only time will tell if this was a good improvement. I'm just judging based on the info I know and on the people around me. So yes, it can be possible that this update is just fine.
Nice video. I have bought this racquet. Mine doesn’t make that high pitch sound thought. One of the reasons I bought it is because I’ve an injurie in my right shoulder and a few teacher friends told me this would be good to keep my style and not hurt me again. All I can say is that it fits well my game style, I can still play with a great amount of spin but keep a balanced ratio of control.
That's great. The racket can definitely satisfy many of the players who were not friends with the previous versions. It's all good when it works for you.
I feel like sometimes racket manufacturers aim for the long term strategy and hope to do lots of sells when they re-make it similar with 2 gen back. And perhaps gain some new customers to the line while loose the fans on this new update 😋😋
My thoughts exactly. V5 Blade was pretty good then as if almost intentionally Wilson released a CV version that was disliked by all and later went back to the old V5 mould with slight tweaking and called it V7. But since the V7 was so much better then the CV the demand was crazy which would not have been the case had CV not been launched in the first place Head did the same with gravity, where Gravity 2019 uses the same frame as Head Speed 2010 model. They changed the speed and relaunched the 2010 frame under a new name; Gravity
The Speed and Gravity are completely different rackets. They play different, they look different. Gravity's head shape is unique, more round and mimics the wider upper hoop of Yonex rackets to gain bigger sweetspot. Way more spin and power compared to the Speed. The Speed is a classic racket with classic oval head shape that has been here for decades. I'm not sure if you mean this by comparing the two rackets or you mean the guts - graphite layout.
I think the manufacturers are too hungry and they want to please everyone, which can be done in my opinion only by releasing completely different series of rackets and not by tweaking the good old ones to some new hybrids. Babolat seems to me is afraid of releasing new models and series because they have no one behind them - no pro player to help them sell those rackets. If you look at Wilson for example, it's like day and night. Wilson made Clash - huge success at least with the V1 version and now it's coming out with it's newest iteration that is called the Shift - which will be a mix of Clash 98 and Blade 98. Maybe with Shift they skip the next Clash and really shift it to Shift :-)
really appreciate your honest comments about the new aero. i am using a vcore pro100 and thinking of getting a pure aero after trying my friends aero that day. i played better with it but strange thing is after trying and returning the aero, i could play better with my vcore too! it like the gained confidence from the hitting hard on the aero stayed on when i switch back to vcore. anyway, specs wise i think the new aero suits me better. But where i live, many are selling the new aero thur online platform and reason for sale to most is they prefer the old aero. while most reviews say good things about the changes, seems like on the ground more stil prefer the old one.
It's all about the feel, which has changed pretty significantly with the new version. As I mention in the video, the new Aero is trying to offer more precision and feel, but it lacks the brute power and spin od the previous gen. It's also softer which is unusual for a power racket like this. So for me the new Pure Aero is for newcomers mainly, who never liked the older stiffer frame and they want something softer and comfortable. I recommend you to try different Yonex rackets like the Ezone or Vcore if you want that extra spin and power.
I totally get why previous users of the pure aero might be frustrated by these changes, but for me who’s a more control oriented player who likes to hit with a lot of spin, and am older and likes a less stiff frame, this racquet feels great. Maybe they should keep this version as a control oriented, spin friendly line, but then migrate the 2019 version into a different more classic pure aero spin monster line
I intend to keep my 2019, I like extreme spin and playing from the baseline, even though I lack a bit of control at the net. However, the new Aero will suit a lot of people, no argument there! Just like they introduced the VS for the 2019 model, maybe they should introduce some spin variant for the 2023. Stores have lowered prices a lot and I don't think we will see the 2019 model available soon.
I’ve strung many Pure Aeros and there r so many hairline cracks on the frame that most people r unaware of unless I tell them. I used to tell everyone but now I don’t bother cuz they might come back to bite me in the ass thinking I broke their rackets when in fact they r to cheap to throw their 10 year old rackets in the trash and get another one. Some f them wear the head guards through and into the graphite and they expect the piece of garbage to get strung 😂 my stringer has 6 point mounts which protects the frame from cracking.
My father played his old Yonex racket through the graphite, too. For me it's unbelievable do achieve something like this, but after 15 years and average of 3-4 hours on court 300 days in a year, it doesn't surprise me. :-D
@@CzechTennisGuy I see. After a few years it's hard to find replacement grommets for some unpopular frames. Some people wear theirs so far into the graphite that even if you replace the headguard it'll only be a cosmetic patch job rather than actually fixing/improving it. Must be sentimental value to some players or what ever reason they haven't changed rackets -)
For me the Pure Aero 2023 lacks the control and feel of the more solid Speed MP. I think the Auxetic tech is the best new tech in rackets nowadays that combines everything in one great package - comfort, but with that crisp and clean feel, added power and awesome playing feel and connection to the ball. It plays like an orchestra together.
I’m currently demoing the extreme mp and the new aero and I’m torn between the two - you’ve played with them longer than I have, and of course the strings on the extreme mp demo are total garbage - thoughts on the pros and cons between the two?
For me the Extreme MP is a winner. This is the Head's approach to "Pure Aero" like racket, that is super quick, stable, feels great and the amount of control is unbelievable for this type of 100 inch headsize racket. Sorry Babolat, you don't stand a chance against the new Extremes from Head. At least for my taste.
Specs of a tennis racket are just one part of the overall performance, especially in the last couple of years. Most of the secrets is hidden in the graphite layout and other technologies like foam that is inserted in the frame. It's always best to test the racket for yourself before you buy it.
This video should start with following statement : "Maybe something is wrong with me and I need you guys to confirm (or not) :) ". One of the least professional tennis racquets reviews. I could help to notice the the Technifibre background....
Yeah exactly. I'm paid by Tecnifibre to talk shi$ about other tennis racket companies...I guess you should go back to your favourite reviewers who talk always positive things about all the rackets they test. For sure they are not promoting them and they are independent.
The price is insane for the new tennis rackets these days. This new PA 2023 is about 280 Euros in the Czech Republic. The older 2019 version is 140 Euros. It's obvious which one will sell better. Btw. Artengo TR960 Control Tour is about 100 Euros. We are paying too high price for the brand. They can produce the racket for few bucks, but because of the very long selling chain, marketing, players fees etc. the ending price is so high it doesn't reflect the reality nor the quality.
the super high tone is coming from grommet. the buzzing noise is coming from grommet vibrating against the loose grommet hole. getting a new grommet will fix that problem. that being said, Babolat is cutting all the corners with racquet making. It's just a bad company.
I don't think it's the grommets. This is a demo racket with great quality control. Only 2-3 players did hit with the racket before I got it. It's brand new, almost unused. Probably with 20 hours of play with this racket. I think it's a construction failure or design failure. It makes this weird sound even when I hit the frame with my palm, not the strings. It resonates the same way. Not so loud, but still it makes that nose without touching the strings and that's even more weird. The racket sounds like a musicial instrument. Bravo Babolat!
I think Babolat is living too long on his previous success with Pure Drives and Pure Aeros. They seem to me like an old traditional company, that is not willing to really innovate and open up for a new audience. They are not open enough and that can hurt them in the future. We can already see the decline of Babolat brand in last couple of years.
