I actually recently did it. I’ve never speedrun a Metroid game before, but hard mode isn’t to bad, use save points every so often, and know where to go to after getting upgrades. After beating the game 100% you get this stuff memorized quickly

Hard mode just makes enemies hit harder, other then that i felt 0 difference. Maybe a little bit more health on them? but ... it was the same exact game to me.

Just got thru the game and I have to say samus' final suit is a seriously badass looking take considering her Metroid dna. Props to the folks that made this game. Was beyond excited for a continuation from fusion after all these years and it did not disappoint, not one bit. Thank you Metroid.

@@dankotocigl8671 I disagree here quite a little. With Metroid Dread and the other metroids, or plenty other games for that matter, there are intended ways for the player to interact with the game. Sometimes Dread lets you grab a missile earlier than usual, and other times use an unintended method to grab an item or traverse or fight. But the examples in this video are more like oversights then developer intention.

I think she has to also be transformed underneath the Metroid Suit, but she might be so horrifying that the developers decided against showing her. The Metroid Suit itself is already pretty monstrous--just imagine the awful form that Samus has taken on as a human/Chozo/Metroid hybrid.

4:22 I love how they show Corpius’s bleeding sliced up corpse in their mainline Nintendo game. They grow balls every time they make a Metroid game, then chop them off for Animal Crossing. Not saying I dislike a lack of balls, I just grew up with Nintendo and am proud to see them come this far.

At 1:03 you missed the opportunity to do the sickest shinespark in the game. Charge your shinespark and climb into that hole in morph ball mode, and shinespark horizontally across the map right to that missile. So satisfying

This is the only Metroid game I have been able to 100% without a guide. All of the other Metroid games have extremely difficult item expansions to get locked behind much harder puzzles or collisionless blocks that you can only find by jumping at very wall in the game in morph ball mode. Dread is definitely the easiest Metroid game to 100% in the series.

Btw. there is evidence to suggest, that "Kraid" in Cataris isn't the same Kraid we fought in Zero Mission or even Super. In Metroid Super you fight a Baby Kraid just before the real one, which in term is obviously a shot at how more powerful the SNES is compared to the NES of olden days that a Boss battle there is a mere enemy depiction in the next gen but come Prime 3 we kinda got to know that Kraid has a species (I think Bryonnians or something) and was experimented on to become a Pirate Captain... At least I like that explanation a lot more than seeing the same enemies over and over again after you killed them numerous times.

Prime follows a different timeline than Metroid 1-2, Super, Other M, Fusion and Dread, though, so any encounter with Kraid's species from Prime isn't canon to Fusion's timeline and vice-versa

To everyone that plans on unlocking all the ending rewards for yourself, here's something you have to know: If you beat the game in hard mode, you don't unlock the ending rewards 1-6 (speed completions), you only unlock 4-6. That means, if you want to have all of the rewards, you have to beat the game in under 4 hours in your normal playthrough, than new game the same file you played on in hard mode and beat that in under 4 hours. That's dumb but it is what it is

Honestly outside of the artworks and the archives i am glad there's no hidden cutscenes this time around, i personally never like the shinespark stuff, i tried it multiple times in the past hell even recently and it just felt tedious. i love metroid i can 100% a game but if i have to do extra complex stuff with shinespark i just don't care to do it, just give me something that i can still work hard for while not dealing with something so stressful but this is just for me.

When you 100% cleared ferenia I was hoping that you would have shown how you did the missile+ tank where you have to bomb across a group of crumble blocks then bomb some bomb blocks and shinespark up from where you destroyed the bomb blocks in order to destroy some speed boost blocks since I think that's the most difficult to get!

Ok so the platform underneath that small tunnel you should be able to start from the left to right and charge a shinespark. After that jump up as you're shooting the beam blocks to destroy them then quickly go into morph ball and do one of those bombs that makes multiple smaller explosions(you press R and lay bomb) that will push you across the crumble blocks, once across very quickly lay another bomb and press jump and that'll blow up the blocks and set you up to break the speed blocks. Definitely the hardest one to get in my opinion

You can also do it by speedboosting through the main door, wall jumping off the wall opposite the hole, slideboosting through the tunnel and then crouching while in the small roomto store a shinespark. Then you can access the area where you shinespark up with a lot more time to spare.

@Chris Ressler I found the hidden Burenia shinespark puzzle harder but also did it in a really convoluted way. Took me about 20 minutes meanwhile meanwhile I figured out the Ferenia one in a couple of tries.

The first one is actually much simpler than what you did, you run the opposite way with the super run thingy (haven't played this in a while) and then you shoot the white box and jump in and then you charge towards the left with that ball power.

How do you get all the extras on the same game file? I have three playthroughs normal mode 100%, hard mode in less then 4 hours, and easy mode in 4 hours. Even though I did all this it won't give me the zero suit samus extra because all the other extras are spread out between the three different playthroughs

You keep the ending rewards even after starting a new game. Easiest solution is to clear normal mode under 4 hours again on the save file you got the hard mode endings.

Just an FYI, that first Shinespark item you show acquired? There is actually a significantly easier method to acquire it. Setting a Super Bomb down in the doorway, adjacent to that (Far right of the room) spot, Speed boost to the right in that corridor. There is a beam block that can be broken, it's only big enough for a... You guessed it, Morph Ball. Trigger the Shinespark from inside there, aiming left. It will hit you right into the spot for the Speed Boost item in there. Simplest and easiest method.

You can create a new game in your current file and the gallery will carry over, then you can reselect the difficulty

@@darkforcewhis1221 Alternatively, you can also copy your original file to another slot. I suggest the best way to do it is 100% the original file prior to copying it. That way, you aren't trying to contend with a four hour time limit while also trying to 100% the game if you failed to do so on the first run. This also serves the purpose of keeping the original file intact if you want to practice things like speedrun tricks or sequence breaks prior to trying to do it for a live run.

How are you suppose to get all 6 ending reward pictures in 1 file if its difficulty dependant? i did sub 3 hour runs on seperate files for normal and hard and didnt got the seventh picture do i have to do both runs on the same file, for example i do a sub 4 on file 1 -> delete it and do a sub 4 on hard? also forgot to mention on the 3rd file is a 100% hard run sub 8 hours

@@samuellajeunesse2521 first off thanks for your informative help. so i just did another sub 4 run on hard for save file 1 and didnt got the seventh picture, in fact i only got the hard mode pictures all other rewards arent there. correct me if im worng. on save file 1 i did an 100% normal run -> deleted it -> did a sub 4 normal run -> delted it -> did the sub 4 hard run according to that i should have keept all previous rewards and gotten the seventh pic but neither happend, i am genuienly confused and frustrated, not because its hard...because its a waste of my time at this point. befor i posted this comment i even 100% both sub 4 save files with no results either, at this point i really dont know what to do

@@thefool9492 I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the issue is that you're deleting the save files. DO NOT DELETE THEM. Instead, select the save file normally, and instead of selecting Continue, select New Game. By deleting the save file, you're also deleting the progress you've made getting any rewards.

@@samuellajeunesse2521 yeah that thought crossed my mind not even 5mins after i write the reply to you and it was the answer to the problem, i guess due to past experiences with other games i thought starting a new game and deleting are the same thing, turns out not , i just did a new run on the file without deletion and got the other sub 8/4 pictures and the seventh nontheless i thank you for your help and time trying to help me understand

It's a shame that Sakamoto's pride won't allow him to recognize the Prime series. Am I the only person who notices that every time a Prime game was released Sakamoto released his own Metroid game? Prime 1/Fusion, Prime 2/Zero Mission, Prime 3/that God awful Other M. And now that Prime 4 is on its way, Metroid Dread. Which of course, as I stated above, completely ignores the Prime games.

Prime series is canon, it just doesn't have events that are relevant to the Metroid story arc. It's like Star Wars The Clone Wars animated series; they're canon, but almost none of their events are mentioned in the movies.

Yeah the game doesn't really encourage you to strive for anything that special. Still images don't really do anything for me. An alternate ending, or like Playstation and Xbox where you get a trophy... now that would be cool. I was sad to see that she didn't take off her suit or even helmet for faster times and completion percentage. Plus no special secret ending for better run time/completion kinda stinks too. Oh well, I still really enjoyed the game alot and I hope they make more. The bosses in this game were great. Though I seriously hated the EMMI crap

@@bread2374 I'm not a fan of having to run away from an unkillable robot that can one shot you. No it wasn't THAT bad because it just spawns you right outside the emmi zone. It was just annoying. I don't like to be rushed in Metroid games

Complete waste of time to 100 percent the game just for pictures, and so the actual point of collecting everything is just the fact that it's addicting and fun to find all the items and the speed boost stuff is sometimes ridiculously challenging. The developers were pretty lazy for end game stuff here, but at least the gameplay is a 10 out of 10.
