What a fun and beautiful ride. Hopefully next summer, I can start endurance riding or at least do a novice ride. Thanks for talking about the intro ride things you need and don't need yet. That makes it less overwhelming when I do my first ride in the future.
Good to hear. That's what I was hoping - to help people realize that it's not a big deal "gear wise" Thanks for coming along with us on this journey. We LOVE the company!
Good question...up until just the past week, t's been over 9 months since Aziim "crow hopped" and the issue of him leading has been progressing beautifully so for the most part, SJ is joking around. However, as we have increased speed just recently, Aziim has started up again. We have a few things to try and if they don't work, SJ probably will switch horses. It would be a shame though, because if we can get this sorted out, Aziim is perfect for her. My watch is a garmin - not an app. Good luck with your Nyobi. I've never seen a morgan/friesian cross. Beautiful I bet!
15 miles in 3 hours is still BLAZING FAST at 5mph average. It’s funny because most trail rides I’ve been on, many can’t get over 3 mph average. So the popular saying that endurance riding is just another trail ride is far from the truth. And you need to constantly be moving to make that 5mph average.
Yes and most IDRs are 5mph but this particular IDR (Spring into Stanley - Atlantic Canada Trail Riding Association website) is a 4mph average - for some reason it always been 4!
I just did 22 km in 4 hours (3:30 riding time, 30 minutes pause). Is this track really flat? The paths look amazing to trot a lot. At our place we have so much difficult, Stony path and it’s never really flat…
