The 8th workshop of the Dagdiesel plant is an unused workshop of the Dagdiesel plant, located in the waters of the Caspian Sea, near the city of Kaspiysk, Dagestan.
Founded in 1934, the workshop was put into operation in 1939. The depth of the walls of the structure is 14 meters, and the thickness is 1.5 meters. The eighth workshop was a naval weapons testing station, the facility was commissioned in 1939.
The object is located at a distance of 2.7 km from the shore.
The workshop was unique for the USSR, the construction took place in a pit with a volume of 530 thousand cubic meters, which was dug ashore with the help of special shells. A special "array" was installed in the pit, on which an all-metal 14-meter structure was later lowered. Further, in a semi-submerged state, the reinforced concrete foundation was towed by water to the place of its installation in the sea, where the construction of the surface part of the facility continued.
The total area of the built workshop exceeds 5,000 sq.m. In addition to production facilities, the workshop was equipped for permanent residence and work, the building of the 8th workshop had an elevator, a dining room, a dormitory for workers, a gym and a library, and there was parquet on the floor almost everywhere. Up to 60 people could live and work here at the same time
Due to changes in the requirements for the nomenclature carried out in the workshop, in April 1966, the structure was written off from the factory balance sheet, and the equipment was dismantled. The facility is currently not in operation.
The workshop was intended for testing naval weapons, mainly torpedoes.

In 1942, he launched 3,246 torpedoes. 55% of all torpedoes used by the Soviet Navy were fired on Dagdiesel. According to experts, the base of the workshop is suitable for operation, but the surface part is in poor condition
