Thank you SO much for teaching us all about Mason Bees. I had not even heard of their existence before this video!! It was SO cute too because your kitty had a 'walk through' in the early part of your video. What a darling! He is an orange Tabby and probably quite full of personality!
Thank you so much! My kitty is named Dwight and he really is quite the character! You will probably hear him meowing to get my attention in another video soon! 😉
That is awesome. I love insects and butterflies and try to support them as I can. This year I'm going to work in a native planting to support the insects and butterflies! Can't wait to get going on this. Thanks again for all you're doing to support the bugs in your area!! Great video!
I’m so glad you did a video on this! Last year during virtual school my son learned about Mason bees and we actually made a house out of construction paper and an old yogurt container… we hung it in our tree but no one ever moved in 🤷🏻♀️ and now I know why! (I never ordered the bees and just assumed a bee would fly along and find the house 🙃🤣) We will be ordering some mason bees this week! Thank you!!! 🐝 ❤️🐝❤️🐝
Oh how sweet! What a great project for kids! That will be so cute for him to get the bees! I think crown bees.com doesn't ship out until March anyway so you are not even late! Keep me updated Kelly! 💗
@@DigPlantWaterRepeat oh good! Yay! Thank you so much for your help! I really thought bees would just kinda find it on their own 🤣 it hung in the tree all summer and all We got were a few spider friends I’ll keep you posted! 🙂🐝❤️
Hi Janey. I've seen these bee houses and have been wanting to get one. Now that you shared the whole story, I know what I'm going to ask my kids to give me for Mother's Day.
Oh that would be a really sweet Mothers Day present Lu! What a great idea! Now...what am I going to ask for for mothers day? 🤔 Probably more plants! 😆 Have a wonderful day!! 💕
Good morning 😃 I loved this video 😍😍😍🐝🐝🐝 so interesting 🤔 I put some bee houses in my gardens last year too !! We had not had hardly any bees for a long time ☹️☹️ then last year they came back !! I was so excited!! I cant wait to see the progress of your bees 🐝. PS…..we are under another winter 🥶 storm warning for heavy snow 😩😩😩😩😩. Have a wonderful day friend 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Pamela! Another storm!! My goodness! You guys are getting all the storms and we are getting all the drought! How exciting that the bees come back! Do you take your bee houses in for the winter? I am still researching on how to store mine after the season is done! Have a great day and stay warm!!!
good morning 😃 I did not take them in but I should have as they rotted a little bit from all the moisture. So I will be getting new bee houses and will take them in at the end of the season 🥰🥰🥰
lol! The clumsy bee! I love it! A bee that understands me! 🤣🐝💕 I didn't know that about supplying them with mud! Thank you again for another educational video!
❤❤❤ I would have been just like you worrying about those little beans! Turning it on its side I bet will hide them from the birds. Because of you I'm thinking of getting those little guys for my veggie patch and hope to see them belly flop in my flowers. Thanks for this, great info!! Congrats on Monrovia btw!!
You should get them Lolly! I found them at Wyntour Gardens in Redding (where my mom lives), not sure if they have them any closer?? I can't wait to see them, I hope I get it on camera! And thanks about Monrovia! So incredibly exciting to get to work with them! 😘
Great video - very informative! I did not know you could purchase them, and I have never seen the eggs before. Great pollinators for sure, just know that even though they won't sting, they will most likely try to chase you away from the flowers they are visiting, lol!
I enjoyed your informative video! I've had several Mason bee houses for 3 years. Last year a chipmunk found the larvae, as I had the house on a fence. It was not pretty. I'm still looking for the best place to hang the houses. How did yours do on your fence? Thanks for sharing your information.
This is my 3rd year to have Mason bees in my backyard and I love them. My only concern for your bee house is the length of the tubes. They should be 6 inches minimum in length so that the bees lay both female and male eggs. In smaller tubes they tend to lay just males. Anyway, I hope you had some make a home and have them for this year.
Awesome Janey !! We had a Mason bee house a couple years ago. I did the "guy thing" and didn't read the instructions and put it way too high lol. Looking forward to an update on it. Wicked smart to pin it to the fence ;) 🌱🐝🌼
Hi! I actually bought mine from a local garden center (Wyntour Gardens in Redding, about 2 hours from me.) I put a link to CrownBees.com where you can order mason bees from as well though!
Hi Debra! So, there are a few plants there... the big flower on the left is an amaryllis, then moving to the right there is a philodendron Birkin, then a watermelon peperomia, then a philodendron brasil and finally a Hindu rope! I hope that helps! Let me know if you have a question about a specific one!
