You need to make sure you come in the springtime to see the Manti Temple open house. It has recently been renovated and had some restoration work done. It’s a Pioneer age temple that was actually finished before the Salt Lake Temple. It is in my opinion the most beautiful temple in Utah. The murals have a wonderful history. The whole building stirs the soul.

There's actually another pioneer meetinghouse still in use, the 2nd ward chapel. Regarding the exterior, it is a sister building to the 10th ward building, and it has its own stunning stain glass window at the back of the chapel. It's on the corner of 500 east and 700 south in Salt Lake City. Definitely worth a visit, if you get the chance.

I've loved following your journey as well as Paster Jeff's on the Hello Saints channel. Thank you for your sincerity in seeking understanding, and for being so respectful of our beliefs, especially those that in some ways isolate us from the rest of Christianity. It always saddens me when fellow Christians (as I see it), focus on those differences instead of what we have in common. Particularly in a time where we need each others support more than ever. Please continue being a standard bearer! The Yale Ward Building in Salt Lake City is another chapel you should visit. The chapel is so beautiful and also features a stunning stain glass mural of Christ.

The Lord in the last days will be found speaking and roaring his voice from out of Zion (Amos, Joel) , when you come to faith you will know where the Lord's Kingdom is to be found. The Two David's Snell and Alexander know what they are talking about, they are speaking the truth. In Zion is found the cornerstone, the keystone, and the foundations of prophet and apostles and you need all those in order to build the house of God.If you want to know what Latter-day Saints believe in and practice read the conference talks.

I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I’ve been so moved by your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. I know what you’re learning about our church is different from some of the beliefs you grew up with, but I think your heart (and, of course the Holy Spirit) are drawing you back to this church. I’m so glad to hear that you’ve been able to see some historical sites and learn more about us. I’m also very happy to hear that you’re reading The Book of Mormon. I hope you’ll continue to open your heart to the further light and knowledge that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ can give you. Pres. Hinckley used to say “Bring all the truth you have with you and we’ll add to it.”

Well said. I’d like to add a response to David’s own question, Why do I feel this way?” Referring to his continued curiosity. I would suggest that this is the Spirit gathering the elect of Israel into the fold. Just as the Jews have been miraculously drawn to their homeland, the call to Israel to gather is occurring here and other parts of the world. You are of the House of Israel and the truths you are learning will resonate in your heart.

I so agree . He is a special spirit being drawn to the truths of Israel. I hope you pray with a true sincere heart and feel the Holy Ghost letting you know the Book of Mormon is true Joseph Smith is a prophet . The history is miraculous will prick your heart . Be receptive to the spirit and move forward . Lehi. Dream could not be made up no one could make that up . Everyone is somewhere on that path . I know you said your dad told you you have a relative who was a member of this church . The more you learn about the restored gospel the more you can see the truths . The reason we have water is because enemies of the church were putting posion in it . Joseph smith was with four people one his wife Emma . And they were going to receive the Holy Ghost and they were going to have Joseph Smith get the wine Which was grape juice. He was stopped by the savior and told not to buy from Any and go back and use water . It matter not what you use but that it is done with an eye single to God .

Just curious, what have you found brings you the most happiness in life? Is that something you talk about with your friends and family? For many members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, that answer is knowing that they can live with their families forever, or knowing that we have a Heavenly Father that loves us and that He sent his Son to bring us salvation. I cannot imagine not wanting to share that happiness with others, especially those that have clearly had a spiritual connection to the church and it's members.

This chapel is on the corner of 400 S and 800 E in Salt Lake City. We share a parking lot with the Chuck-a-Rama next door haha. The signs even say "10th Ward and Chuck-a-Rama parking only." I love this ward. The other rooms and buildings not shown are very interesting to visit and see also. All are welcome to join with us here any Sunday!

I’m a convert to the church of 26 years and I really appreciate your respectful videos. Pres. Hinckley was the prophet when i joined and I remember thinking, “why is everyone always so hyped up about this Gordon B. Hinckley guy? I later learned for myself what a great man he was. At the end of the day, the church teaches and focuses on the principles and values that make up a good, successful society and happy individuals: love for God, families, charity/service, kindness, forgiveness, love for others, and just overall living Christlike to the best of our abilities. The church has taught me the difference between being religious and being Christlike. And I think we should all strive to make sure, in our church endeavors, that we are being taught to live what is talked about, and not just knowing what is talked about. It’s not an easy church to be a member of because sometimes we do things that are hard: fulfilling a leadership calling, cleaning our church building on a Saturday, giving a talk at church, taking care of babies when we want to learn instead, and sometimes we just get butthurt Because our pride got the best of us. At the end of the day, I’m a better person because of this church.

Very well said, Sister. I joined the Church in 1966 when David O. McKay was the Prophet. Of all the Prophets since then, the one who touches this old lady’s heart the most is President Hinckley. I felt I had lost a personal friend when he died. President Nelson is doing a great job now. Do you think Dave will listen to the Holy Ghost and join the Church? He seems to be getting closer and closer. 😊

I have to say that your comment about church members fruits made me tear up. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I know we are not perfect but I truly try to let my “fruits” show I am a follower of Christ. I also see the fruits of our church. It brings so much joy to those who follow Christ and His church. I too have found the loudness and negativity of the things of the world. I teach in church in the women’s Relief Society and this thought always comes up about the world being loud and scary and negative but Christ and His true church brings peace and comfort. I have seen this so many times in my life. I love watching your videos. I have no idea how I came across them but it is inspiring you trying to be true to yourself and finding truth.

David, when I saw you were doing a video on the LDS 10th Ward in SLC I had to watch it with interest. This is the first time I have ever made a comment on any video. My parents were members of the LDS 10th Ward when I was born in 1945 a few months after Japan was bombed. My father was serving in the miliary at the time. I was raised attending this chapel. I new it intimately and your review brought home many fond memories. As a teenager I actually had the opportunity to play the pipe organ. The stain glass window of Christ knocking on the door without a doorknob brings home the fact that WE have to open the door from our side to let Christ into our lives. Thank you for making this video.

Hi David! Thank you for sharing the story about when President Hinkley first gained his testimony that Joseph Smith had been called as a Prophet of God. President Hinkley was the leader of the Church when I was a missionary. It reminds me as a young missionary in Chicago of a time we encountered a man who invited us over to his home for a Gospel discussion, and then proceeded to vociferously attack Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. He said all sorts of slanderous things and had a very loathing tone. I was rather shy, but felt impelled to open my mouth and share my beliefs. I recall speaking more boldly than I expected, and while I have no memory of exactly what I said, it had a visible impact because the person accosting us went entirely silent, and utterly stopped his tirade. My companion missionary looked at me with mouth literally agape. I recall clearly being filled with an overwhelming "burning in the bosom" which lasted for many hours thereafter (perhaps similar to what is described in Luke 24:32). The feeling was wonderful, warm, and powerful that filled my heart with the most uplifting sense of love and peace. It was perhaps the most incredible spiritual experience of my life and something I will always cherish as a direct witness of Joseph Smith's calling as Prophet of God, and the divinity of the Book of Mormon. I hope you don't mind me sharing with you as I always enjoy your wonderful channel and I know you are the right track spreading God's word. ⛪ 🤍 ✝

Seeing my old Ward building when I lived right off the Eagle Gate next to Brigham Young's resting place was incredible. I lived in Salt Lake for 11 years. During that time, I learned about the church's history firsthand.. I now live in Vermont, about 35 miles from the birthplace of Joseph Smith. After our last flood in July of this year, I learned so much about the strength and endurance of Vermonters and the mindset of Joseph Smith and his family. So much of the Church is about "making and do" and surviving under dire circumstances. It's also about family and faith. As I have lived in Vermont for 41 years, I have come to love the people. As would be, Vermonters are so much like Utahns, except more modern and outspoken. They pretty much take life as it comes, complaints are few, and "doing" is the norm. I live in Vermont primarily because of the smog in Salt Lake and the number of people, but I do love Utah. I hope you can visit Vermont and experience the beauty and people here. In many ways, you are a lot like Joseph Smith. Before he organized the Church, he visited many. When I was very young, without my parents I too was a member of different churches. Your journey is wonderful, and we appreciate your open-mindedness. Take Care.

Gordon B. Hinckley was and is one of my most beloved prophets. The love he exuded towards everyone was immense. Such a humble man, sweet, and also quite folksy funny. ; ). My children were teenagers when He was prophet. He was a perfect fit for their time in their lives as well. I love all of our prophets, but some speak more to me in certain times of my life. David, I would first say this, “I am LDS and I love your RU-vid adventure. Your mind is open and that is a blessing. You shared “the verse” from Matthew warns of false Prophets, which there are and have been many, but the statement also raises the question, “if there are all these false prophets wouldn’t a benevolent loving Father provide at least one, if not more, true prophet?”” I would also say the negative you have seen has always been in existence to the light. Fear breeds darkness, darkness abhors light. Always seek the light. My experiences have been many including returning twice from death. The gospel if Jesus Christ is true, it is real, and it is life and light. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living Father. May your days be blessed always. May the grace and mercy of the Lord be upon you alway. Your brother in Christ, Dave

Hi David, If you're interested in some of the history behind why Latter-day Saints in the US typically use water, I would recommend reading D&C 27. The verse that I would emphasize is verse 2 - in it, Christ indicates that the purpose behind the Sacrament is what's important, not what is eaten or drunk. I've heard that areas of the world with less-safe water sources use liquids are used in place of water. For example, in Mexico, soda is often used instead of water. Hope this helps! And thank you for your honest curiosity! It's refreshing :)

I really admire what you are doing! I really appreciated your reference to fruit. The fruit of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for me is that, as I humbly listen and apply the teaching of prophets such as Gordon B. Hinckley, I feel greater joy in my life because their teachings point me to Christ. My trials don't go away, but they become lighter as I can see the eternal view and purpose for our lives, and the light of truth is unmistakable and undeniable. In a world of dissension and conflicting ideals, many such ideals fighting the truths of the Bible, we desperately need a prophet to lead us back to Christ!

Thank you for your open mindedness as a protestant learning more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It’s very refreshing as a member to see it. I understand you may have reservations with certain teachings or doctrines, but it’s great to see you are open to hearing both sides and considering both sides perspectives. Like you mentioned by the fruits you shall know them. The book of mormon is the fruit of the Prophet Joseph smith. All though we believe Joseph did not write the book of mormon, we believe it was through him the book was translated. As such the book of mormon is the keystone of our religion. If the Book of Mormon is true then Joseph Smith was a true prophet and servant of God used to restore Christ’s Church in latter days. If the book of mormon is false then Joseph Smith is a false prophet. I hope you are able to prayerfully receive an answer to your true hearts desires to know the truth. God Bless.

I have loved watching your journey in these videos. Thank you for sharing your sincere thoughts on what you have seen and felt. It is truly appreciated in this day and age when it can be hard to find others who don't ridicule or who do try to understand what we believe as members in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I also love that you have learned a little about President Hinckley. I have received my own special affirmations through the years that our Heavenly Father is aware of us and that we are so very blessed to have a living prophet on this earth today. Almost 26 years ago, I sang in one of the sessions of General Conference as a member of the Mormon Youth Chorus- a choir that doesn't exist anymore in the church. I came to General Conference that day with a prayer in my heart, seeking answers as I was 2 weeks away from getting married (in the Salt Lake Temple), and my fiancé and I were trying to work out some things that couples getting married often have to do, and we weren't quite seeing eye to eye. I had known before we had ever met that this man was different and that he was "the one"; as silly as that sounds, impressions only the spirit could give were hard to deny over and over again. His mom, my coworker, had mentioned writing him as he was currently serving a mission for the church. We wrote for 4 months until he got home from his mission and got engaged 2 months later. So that day, as we sang one of the songs in that session of General Conference, President Hinckley turned around to face my side of the choir and looked right at me as our eyes met. A few years later, I was looking through The Ensign (former church magazine) at the particular month that shared talks from this particular General Conference and was astounded to find a picture of President Hinckley on one of the pages looking to his right (where I sat up in the choir). The caption below it said, "In a contemplative scene, President Gordon B. Hinckley listens to a choir number during a conference session." Knowing all of this that transpired while making the biggest decision one can make in life has carried me through the hard times in our marriage and in my personal life...we did end up getting married. By the next morning of General Conference, my fiancé and I had both received answers, again, through the Lord's apostles in talks we heard and read. You are in good hands, going forward with a desire to learn and be open to what else is out there. I hope the best for you!

So grateful for your respectful and spiritual approach to sharing your experiences with the Church and faith that I love. Your perspective is so in tune with the Holy Spirit and I loved your comments about building each other up instead of the witch hunt that exists in some corners of the Christian body. I’m a life-long Latter-day Saint who grew up on the East Coast, and I’ve experienced plenty of ridicule, but I’m so uplifted by people like you who come with open arms to join together as we all strive to be more like Jesus.

The video ended with mention of President Hinckley and his desire to link past and present. Here is an interesting factoid that is touching in that regard...when the Conference Center was opened we learned the wood for the pulpit came from a tree in President Hinckley's yard. We are reminded often of our revered latter-day prophets.

David, I really enjoy your sincere comments about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. What a breath of fresh air. Your commentary on Matthew 7: 15-16 is super insightful. I do believe that it is by our "fruits" that we will be known, all of us. Those verses are especially powerful in the context of prophets and false prophets. Matthew truly gives us the formula for finding true prophets and discerning from the false ones. Thank you for another video, well done. When the Salt Lake Temple is re-dedicated, visitors will be allowed to enter, much like our other temple open houses. Make sure you make the trip to see it, the Salt Lake Temple is amazing inside. It is a monument to the Lord, and a symbol of our faith. It took 40 years to the day to complete. May God continue to bless you in your journey brother.

God declared, “ By the mouth of two or three witnesses shall all truth be established” …. we should not be surprised that there is another testament of Jesus Christ the Book of Mormon, to support the Bible’s New and Old Testaments. Love you brother! Keep searching and pray to God to show you truth it’s out there waiting for those who truly want it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts in such a kind way. You seem like a wonderful Christian man. There are a lot of people out there who never bother to try and understand us and what we believe. I’m grateful to see someone who is genuinely interested in understanding. We’re more similar than we are different and I have a very firm testimony in Christ, God, The Holy Ghost, and the plan of redemption.

Another place you could visit is the Light of the World garden at Thanksgiving Point. Our family just went there Saturday night for their Christmas Luminaria event. I venture they have more lights than anyone in the country. But the highlight is this special garden with 15 scenes from the life of Christ using 35 monument sized bronze sculptures spread out over 2.5 acres tastefully highlighted with simple, classic lanterns. Talk about putting Christ in Christmas. Of course you’d need to come during the Christmas season. It was a great family event. Very crowded to. Love your videos. Thanks for being so curious and respectful.

The Tenth Ward was where I attended from my youth. Across the street is the M. Lynn Bennion Elementary that replaced the Webster School that I attended beginning in 1946. In a previous episode you talked about Gilgal Garden that was started the year prior. On the corner of the block south of the Tenth Ward is a church that was originally built in 1947 for the deaf community of which my parents belonged. I attended weekday primary after school in the Tenth ward chapel and classrooms in the schoolhouse wing, as well as then Junior Sunday School. I was baptized in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. The Baptistry has been closed since then. I attended church there until after 1967. The Tenth ward was one of the original sponsors of Scouting - Troop 6. of which I was a Scoutmaster until 1968. I was there when Gilgal garden was almost completed. I remember when the Semi and the Crane was brought in to place the white shaft on the east side of the garden. It represents the "key" of the priesthood and the various lengths represent the various quorums that are in the priesthood.

I'm happy when I see people protesting and picketing outside of General Conference and other LDS church things. I believe it is a sign that our church is true. ( Satans trying his darndest .) It strengthens my testimony of our faith when I see them. ♥️ Christ taught there would be persecution and like unto it. Matthew 5:11-12. Anyway I loved this video. Thanks for it. ❤️

We have so enjoyed your program & having an open heart about the good in all churches. You might want to check out the open house at the Red Cliffs Temple near St George Utah on Feb. 1st through Mar. 2nd, excluding Sundays. It's best to fly into Vegas Airport as St George is only 2 hrs north. You would have homes to stay & eat there.... Onward & upward young man of God!

There is a beautiful old church building in Brigham City, Utah. It has a huge stained glass window in the east wall; might be worth your while to go see it. It is at the corner of 200 N. & 200 West. Brigham is about an hour north of SLC.

I grew up in that area. I think that ward building was in my stake, but was called the 8th ward when I was there. I went to the Liberty Park Ward, another old ward building further south (west of Liberty Park), but not as old as that one. It has amazing stained glass windows as well. I also remember being part of a choir in that building you went to. They invited four families from each ward, if I remember correctly. Long time ago; I will leave out how old I am. But I was a teenager.

There are many people of other Christian faiths that harshly criticize The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is simply good vs. evil. Satan is putting on a good fight against the light of Christ and His people. I love to see your observations. By Their Fruits ye shall know them. I'm glad to see that you see the good fruits of The Chiurch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I would love to see you join with we the happy people!

I really appreciate your videos. There are few things that match the joy of seeing a fellow spiritual brother or sister recognizing the fruits of the spirit and being edified. I know that God loves His children, and that He is absolutely willing to help guide us. “If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?” (Luke 11:11) He has a plan for us. He can help us discern truth from error. Anyone who wants to know the truth, can learn for himself by the power of the Holy Ghost. “…if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.” (Moroni 10:4) You have seen many good fruits. You also mention you have felt drawn back. Come back. Stay. Ask God if the Book of Mormon is His word. Ask him if Christ church has been restored. Ask Him all your questions. Come and be baptized. I wish I could have a chat with you someday, David. Thanks again for your thoughts.
