Since my blog is down (not sure when I'll be able to fix it) Here's the written pattern 💕 Please do not steal or repost. Thank you!! 1HDC = Half double crochet once 2HDC = Half double crochet twice in the same stitch 5DC = Double crochet five times in the same stitch Using a 4.5 mm hook, Chain 3 Round 1: 10HDC into the first chain, sl st to join the round. (10) Round 2: Ch 2, 2HDC into each stitch, sl st to join the round (20) Round 3: Ch 2, [1HDC, 2HDC] repeat until the end of the round, sl st to join the round (30) Round 4: Do not Ch 2, [5DC, sl st, 1SC x5, sl st, 5DC, sl st] sc until the end of the round (38)
If you want to make the coaster bigger you can continue doing Rounds 1-3 from the original pattern. From Round 4 onwards, you can do increases until the coaster fits your desire size. Here’s an example: Round 4: Ch2 [1HDC, 1HDC, 2HDC] until the end of the round, sl st (40) Round 5: Ch2 [1HDC, 1HDC, 1HDC, 2HDC] until the end of the round, sl st(50) Just continue adding 1HDC’s into the pattern until you reach your desired diameter. After increasing you can proceed to the round with the bear ears. The bear ears is basically 5DC enclosed by slip stitches on the adjacent stitches. Because we’re making the coaster bigger, I recommend switching out the Double Crochets into Treble stitches so that the ears don’t look tiny. The single crochets that follow are just based on how far you want the ears to be apart. Following this, just eyeball how many single crochets are needed based on what looks good. Alternatively, you can try switching the HDC into DC so that the coaster gets bigger if you don’t want to modify the pattern 😊
slip knot, chain 3, 10 hdc into 1st chain, slip stitch all together, chain 2, 2 hdc in each stitch repeat but increase so 1 then 2nd hdc, 2 then 3rd hdc do this for 4 rounds, ears - double c 5 times into first stitch, slip stitch, single stitch 4 times and then repeat double c 5 times for 2nd ear, single stitch all the way around (this was just for me to reference from but thank u for the tutorial! it was rlly easy to understand
Hello! Thank you so much for the easy tutorial. A few adjustments I made for my self included using a magic ring at the beginning to hdc 10 stitches into. This doesn't change anything. I also wanted to make the finished coaster bigger (I had a smaller yarn weight), so I added another round after round 2. 1 hdc into the first stitch, 1 hdc into the second stitch, 2 hdc into the third stitch. Repeat this sequence all the way around, you will end with 40 stitches. Then in the last round (with the ears), 7 dc into the first stitch, sl stitch into the next stitch, sc 6 stitches, sl stitch, 7 dc into the next stitch, sl stitch, sc all the way around. This was how I made it bigger, maybe someone else wants to as well!
I tried your thing cause I needed to make slightly bigger coasters cause I only have smaller yarn. You said to do the extra round after round 2 but I actually had to do it after round 3. I’m not sure it that’s just a typing error but I figured I’d leave comment so anyone who tries it knows to move the extra row to after round 3. Thank you for the initial comment though! It really helped!
thank you for giving us absaloute begineers who are poop at crotchet an easy tutorial this is honestly the best tutorial I have seen it does not just tell you the stitches and leaves you to figure it out thank you so much :)
I just started learning crocheting I would say this is one of the best tutorials. Thank u for the video. I always wanted to make smth cute by crocheting and this is like the perfect one. I just made one and gonna give my mom as a present. I'm sure she's gonna love it and again thank you for the video.
WRITTEN PATTERN (mostly for me): row 1: slip knot and ch 3 / magic ring, 10 hdc into the 1st ch / into the ring (10) row 2: [slst, chain 2] inc in every st (20) row 3: [slst, chain 2] hdc, inc (30) row 4: [slst] 5 dc in the 1st stitch, slst, 4 sc, slst, 5 dc in the next st, slst, sc across until 1 st is left (2 ears, 24 sc) fasten off & invisible join INVISIBLE JOIN: go into the 1st dc of the ear, then into the back loop of the last st of the row 4 [let me know if i made any mistakes]
I love this! The yarn size i used made a super small bear, not big enough to be a coaster, but it is super cute! I think it would be hella cute to make these into granny squares and make a blanket with it
That's such a cute idea!! Bear blanket 🥺 If you're interested, a few comments down, I gave an explainer on how to adjust the pattern to get a bigger bear ☺️ I also added the write up to my blog post (but I haven't gotten around to taking pictures yet 😅).
Omg ! At first I thought this was going to be hell , but in my first time ever I’m actually impressed about what I did ! And this was so beginner friendly thx sooo much
@@stringbbeans hello!! Can I ask for some clarification at round 3? You made 1 then 2 hdc per stitch, is it a 1-2-1-2 pattern or 1-2-2? I'm sorry if I look dumb but it's my first time and I really want follow your steps perfectly. Btw among my searches, this is the most clear and easy to understand. I really appreciate your tutorial sm :))
@@stringbbeans sana online ka ate or masagot agad question ko kasi di na ko makapaghintay na makagawa ng first ever crochet project ko hehe sobrang thank you sa precise na tutorial :>
Thank you so much!!! I was worried that when I did it, that the ears wouldn't show up well BUT they DO!! I'm so happy with it and I'm planning on making more. This was such a good tutorial, I was able to follow along easily and had no problems with the instructions you gave.
this is my first time crocheting, i wanted to make a coaster as a christmas gift so i was trying this out for practice. the tutorial really helped, thank you so much!
I love this tutorial! You are the first person who has made the half double crochet make sense to me!! Can’t wait to make these for Christmas gifts ❤️❤️
i was looking for random coaster patterns and i found you. glad to see a really cute and easy to follow guide, more so from a kababayan. hope to see more of your crochet and (fellow) stardew endeavors! cheers!
this was seriously one of the easiest and best tutorials I’ve ever followed! i still consider myself a beginner and the steps were so clear with the video! my yarn was smaller so my coaster was very mini, but i'm going to try to add more stitches for another time. thank you for this, i'll definitely be checking out your channel!
I'm a total beginner and thanks to you I managed to crochet my first coaster, it's not perfect but I like it. Too bad I can't attach a photo of my crochet for you to see.
Hi, I'm a beginner here and your tutorial is easy to follow and understand. Thank you for making this video. I like the writtern pattern I can refer whenever I forgot where I am. It turns out so cute and my son loves it.
this was super cute and easy to follow! I was following your instructions but then I realised that it turned out a bit too small for my liking so I added another round and did slightly different on the ears :)
I just started to crochet yesterday I made a square yesterday Today i was making this and it turned out an amigurumi 😂 I was trying amigurumi but couldn't do but this coaster thingy turned out a cute bear 🥺✨ Anyways thanks lol-🦋
Hello friends, I decided to launch a blog to accompany my video tutorials. You can find the free written pattern for this crochet tutorial in my blog post at stringbbeans.com/beginner-crochet-bear-coaster-free-pattern-video-tutorial/ Happy crocheting 🤗🌼
@@Yarnitbunny Hi Aurora, unfortunately it's currently down 😔 I'm trying to resolve it as soon as I can but it might take awhile! If you need any specific info / help you can dm me on instagram!
I started with the magic ring and then copied the rest :) I just took a break from my reading and decided to look for a tutorial on coasters coz I needed one for my drinks. I just finished and now I'm going back to my reading. 😊
a useful tip for me! If your cup is bigger you can add one more row between the normal row and ears row by doing (1HDC,1HDC,2HDC) as a set and repeat, if you wanna add one more row then do (1HDC,1HDC,1HDC,2HDC) as a set:)
Loved this so so much, i tried it with a thinner yarn and got it on my first try. Then i used a chunkier yarn and it came out bigger! 🩷 thank you for this, your instructions are super clear and beginner friendly
Hello! Thank you so much for this video this was my first crochet project and it was so fun and easy. I just started crocheting and this is one of the best tutorials for a beginner like me. I’ve looked through many tutorials and they just never worked for me or where to hard but this one was the first one that was easy enough for me to do as a beginner. It was so cute I loved it . I will definitely check out more crocheting projects on your channel. Thanks 😊❤
Thank you so much for this! It really helped me figure out something easy to make as my first little animal type coaster, its a bit small but I'm a beginner so it makes sense at the moment! eventually ill make it bigger.
ok. so i'm pretty sure i did a couple of things wrong here and there but it turned out good! i actually made a small one and a larger one using heavier yarn. i even embroidered little faces on them! the small one is a bear and i turned the bigger one into a frog! (the green yarn really sells the idea too lol) thank you for this easy tutorial! i had so much fun :)
@@evamartini2478 what I do is I just make two and then join the outside stitches together and leave a little hole open at the bottom. I usually just put my earbuds in them. :) you could probably turn it into a coin purse but that's too advanced for me 😂
This tutorial moves a bit too fast but I finally got the hang of it and it turned out so cute. 🥰 I’m proud. Edit: Third time is a charm because I finally got it and it’s done correctly. Lol
thaaankyou so much for the tutorial! its really helpful, i'm an absolute beginner and i've just started today, and i did it! this video helps me so much
i made this yesterday and it was super quick and easy! i just started crocheting about a month ago and this was really easy to follow, i'll be making a bigger one soon :)
I love it! Great work and thank you for doing this. I appreciate you talking in the video too instead of me trying to read while crocheting. Lol 💖 Have a great day!
Yayy akhirnya jadi juga! Gue masih noob, awalnya sempet dah mau nyerah, soalnya yg tambahan rantai setelah dikonci itu agak bikin bingung sih, jadinya gue akalin ilangin yg rantai tambahan, tetep jadi kok, thanks for tutorial!!
r1: 10 hdc in magic ring, sl st (10) r2: ch 2, increase hdc, sl st (20) r3: ch 2, (hdc 1, increase), sl st (30) r4: dc5 in first st, sl st in next st, sc 4, sl st, dc5 in st, sl st, sc for rest of round - cut yarn on 2nd to last stitch and invisible join (insert needle to front side of the first dc, carry yarn to front side, insert through blo of FO stitch
your explainings r really good, how can i do it bigger? my yarn is more thin and i was trying doing it with the same steps and getting more rounds, but it got weird
Thank you very much for this video. I made it successfully by following your tutorial. It's a great present. Again, thank you very much and I wish you good health. God Bless you!
@@stringbbeans hey! just askif but do you think 100 gram is enough to make two of these? if not then I'm gonna buy more. I'm a very very beginner and i wanna give it to my friends because I'm moving schools 😅
@@valen2983 I used around 7-10g for mine so I think 100g will do you fine :) the amount of yarn used is still dependent on your yarn weight and tension but it's likely 100g is more than enough
