I know this is old, but, it may be subjective. If a car wasnt treated right and maintained right, itll be crap even if the car Make/Model/Year was in fact a good one. Plus, this is a model well over 10 years old. Even the best of cars wear out with age. That said, some models of Liberty's first wave did have issues, but properly maintained, I've seldom seen/heard too many bad complaints. Not to the degree implied here.
I can tell you the issues because I own the car now. I've had it 4 years. The 2006 has issues. It's a good reliable car as long as you repair the issues immediately and they're common consistent issues. 1. Lower ball joints. Had a recall the dealer repaired twice but I've had them replaced each year I've had the car. 2. Because of the defected ball joints the wheel move losely on the road. Even if they have been replaced. 3. Alignments needed due to the wear on the lower ball joints. No axel unless its 4WD. It will wear your tires if all are not replaced immediately. I hate I purchased the 2006. However, I love the leather seats, exterior, heated seats and sunroof. Nice for traveling but again those ball joints created more problems that I needed. It's not worth it. However, I had the Jeep Cherokee before the liberty. Loved that car. The best I had, lasted over 200k. Drove 6 hours from home for months for my dad. Great SUV.
Um. I strongly disagree. If a vehicle is treated like crap it will crap. Long story short I got "my" Jeep back. Originally was saposed to be my husband's and I's five years ago. Well the condition he got it back in is crap. His sister said it is junk. Hello 🙋 I will gladly take the "Junk" vehicle and put the love and TLC it needs. So far what I know of it needs the temp gage ($10part) and all dash lights are on. Looked up a RU-vid video and going to start with four new wheel speed scensors, brakes, oil change and check fluids, minor body work is my game plan just to get it inspected and on the road. Later I plan on an alighnment, checking bearings and new tires.
