It's a handy little box; the original Circuit was well loved, but some of us, myself included, couldn't remember what the controls did as they were just labeled L1-L8, so we didn't get very far. Jumped on the Tracks when it became available and I've gotten a lot more into now that those controls are labled.
I grabbed a circiut for mega cheap had never looked into these and thought at least i coukd give it to the kids if it sucked. And it's totally insane fun.
What I miss in this review is how it actually sounds. Which is pretty important for a groovebox that has a built-in synthesizer as its centerpiece. And from what I have read and heard so far, Novation's sound engine isn't really all that amazing, nor are its effects anything to write home about. And a groove box that gives you a hard time getting decent sounds from kinda defeats the purpose of all that easy-to-use design.
As we were late to the game with this one and many more established production reviews have already done that, we thought we'd make something to complement the material they have already produced. We think its synths sound great, and its drum machine is a sampler so over to you on what you use in that. The built-in reverb and delay sound good too.
Im thinking of getting one..edit im definitely getting one next week i was supposed to be getting the Roland S1 and j6 for my set up but for the price of them im as well getting the tracks more bang for the buck it will be a better fit for my studio....as iv not good a groove box well iv got a t8 and a p.o ko and a Yamaha djx that are classed as groove boxs but the circuit seems more professional and if its different from using a daw im in as i hate dawless production....i used a tascam multitrack i record one instrument at at time and keep layering it so its alot of messing around hopefully this will make things easier
Hey, I know this is an old video but I’m hoping you still respond. I’m thinking about getting into making music and I’m wondering if this is something you’d recommend for someone starting out. If not, are there any other standalone devices for near the same price? This kind of seems like a unicorn with its capabilities at the $350 price point.
Hi there, what is the way to save the audio of your track and live sessions with this unit? Would this device a good 1st pick as a very first groove box to begin as a complete beginner? Thanks in advance Cheers
@@digitaldjtips yes you can, and I do this sometimes. Was curious if you or anyone else has tried it so we could all compare notes :) Traktor is still the only one that I can see that still offers midi sync, but it's still fiddly as you have to nudge the track decks everytime to get everything in phase. But I think novation are missing a trick as devices like this are awesome for adding to a set giving their compactness.... And most DJ platforms now support Ableton link. If they were to add support for that over USB they could open up hybrid setups with rekordbox or denon as well without having to run Ableton in the background. And it would work better with traktor.
A question for the experts. Can I download external sounds to the computer and transfer them to the device? to CIRCUIT TRACKS? If so how can it be done. Another question - can I connect external sounds from a synthetic device or electronic drums directly to the CIRCUIT TRACKS device and save them on the device? Thank you .
Yeah it could be it's a midi controller too but the whole idea of standalone hardware is so you don't need to use a daw I would not see the point using it with a daw unless just it as a controller as it won't really bring any new you cant do on the daw already
Its a great box, but the only issue I have is trying to remember where saved projects and kits are as there are no names. Am scared I might erase some by accident sometimes. Perhaps they might add a small LCD in the next version that simply shows Project names/numbers and preset names (nothing else)
if you connect to components it will show you the names of the presets and you can reorder em however you want, you can also save each pack or project with different RGB color
