👎 Things I hate about living in BARCELONA! 

What I hate in Barcelona is the lack of clear rules/laws for bikes, motorcycles, scooters, bici-taxis, that single-wheeled kinda device and many others on the sidewalks. As a pedestrian it is a a total challenge to walk around the city trying not to get hit by one of these

♥️ THIS. This was right on the money. 🤣😂🤣. I’m Puerto Rican and have great grand parents from Catalonia. When I lived in Barcelona, initially the Spanish was an issue because not many Catalonians bent or were helpful with the “Puerto Rican lingo”, 🤪😆 but honestly, everyone was lovely after a while. Yes, I got lost….a few times!!! 😆 🗺 I do miss walking into the market in Sant Gervasi and the staff knew me so well it turned into “HOLA GUAPA” from across the store! 🤣 I wanted to hide but it was such a warm thing to do I had to embrace the love. 🤗 I will say during the beginning of living in Sant Gervasi, it was a VERRRY interesting learning experience due to strange looks and stares being THE BROWNIE in the area, 🤔😳🤪, but I can say I had the best experiences once getting to know people. The owner of my flat was the best and so kind! She tried to make me her daughter in law and staged a whole thing at her house to trick me into meeting her son. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 So you see….You take the good with the bad and make things work for you. 🤗🥰

Great video, I really liked it! I moved to Barcelona a month ago, and having to carry those huge bottles of water from the grocery store was the first thing I disliked :D Although the city is amazing, it was very easy for me at first to get lost in Barcelona's one-way streets when I was looking for the bus stop.

Wow, that was amazing. I've seen so many videos but I enjoyed yours immensely. I also love your energy. I know it's hard to do these Hate list videos but I think you were so reasonable. All these things are minor if we love the city we live in. I have a few questions, though. You mentioned low salaries, but I don't think you mentioned jobs. I guess it's a given that is hard, but could you do one of those videos, like how is job searching like, what professions are in demand, what areas to live in to be closer to great jobs, what's the tech community there like? And most important of all, what ages are still ok to work in companies? My father still works in a company in his 70s in the US. Are 40 year old people still getting jobs there? Thanks,

I only desagree with the ¨super clean¨ i think Bcn its quite dirty, or actually the ajuntament does a great job in trying to keep the city clean, but plp loving trow things on the floor. and during summer time the city smells bad.

In Madrid I know you can get a plastic metro pass with your photo on it and everything and it lasts about 10 years and you can loaded it every month with the 30 day ticket and travel unlimited amount of times on any transport for about 20 euros a month. Tho I’m sure it’s for anyone under 25 for that price

I used to fly to Barcelona airport to get to another location. The smell at the airport was unbearable. That awful distinctive smell that I cannot forget. The city itself is so over-rated in my opinion. Loud, disorganised, expensive, humid. I don't get how can anyone voluntarily move there. Places like the Basque country, Galicia, Cantabria are so much more appealing. Green and nice mild weather. They remind me of Ireland a bit.

The language thing is the exact same in Montreal, Canada. Canada is mostly English speaking except for the province of Quebec which is mostly French speaking. Montreal is in Quebec and is mostly French, but it also has a lot of English speakers . Language debates are a constant thing here. And that same thing happens where two people are having a conversation, each speaking their own language and refusing to switch and to add to that, we have hard water, and lots of hills also hahaha.

I agree completely, also about the remark of language: why don't people answer in Spanish once they know you don't speak or understand Catalan? After living 6 years I could add a few more things to hate in BCN: 1. Pickpockets, in the metro, in El Borne, even far away from the centre, anywhere! And if people get caught (it never happens 'cause the Mossos are nowhere) and if they have stolen less than €60 they only get a minor penalty. And the complete indifference of locals towards this issue 'cause it happens to "guiris" (tourists) 2. Dog pooh, anywhere! 3. lack of Memorials for those fought for freedom against Franco. I got so mad when the building of Telefonica in front of Plaza Catalunya which was the headquarters of the anarchists was reformed and all the treasures of that time were thrown away. 4. gentrification as a result of massive tourism and lack of honest administrators, impossible to rent a place for a normal price, even in working-class areas as Gracia. And all the tourist places like the Mercado Boquería transformed into a shopping area for dummy tourists. And I few others but those were the most important, great video!

It seems to me that you dislike more things than you like .... and to affirm what you say about people who always answer in Catalan even though the others speak Spanish 😳 I don't know how many people you have been listening doing this or what statistics you have consulted. I totally disagree maybe some people do this but it is not common by far. Polite people use to do the opposite and in Barcelona like other cities there are polite people and rude people. Maybe you have listened the last ones.

I am not an expat.....I'm an immigrant.

You are mixing concepts. First off all, we are not a bilingual country. Bilingual can be a person, not a country. Anyone has the right to choose their language and not change according to the law (and sociolinguistics). I'm from Barcelona and I hardly ever speak Spanish, I don't like it. And secondly, Spanish originates from Castile and not from Catalonia, where it was not spoken until the end of the 19th century. We have been speaking Catalan here since the Middle Ages. If you don't like it, you can always go back home...

Nie video, but I would like to share my perspective, one that is 10 years in the making. I do not have a love affair with Barcelona, and, if it wasn't for my Catalan partner, I would never have stayed as long as I have. I can't waitfor us to leave. And while the GDP here is high and the country is considered "first world" let me be the first to shockingly tell folks that the living standards here (homes/buildings) are for millions of people very similar to those found in central and south America .... in other words .... poor! Construction here, both old and new, is just crap and done with underdeveloped planning, questionable materials and ppor execution. Most of the building here are absolute fire pits, built without escapes .... literally. No fire alarms, no fire escapes and family live in subterranean apartments without windows, and, it's all legal. There are like a zillion super old, 6 story walk-ups that lead to tiny, crappy little apartments. Bathrooms on airplanes are larger. They constant leak. Showers are so dinky you can't even bend over to wash your feet and faucets stick out 2 feet from the wall occuping your shower space, and good luck trying to get a constant, comfortable stream of water out of your shower head. Kitchens are tiny, make shift even, and stuffed in rooms that are truely only closet size ... yea, like 3ft x 5 ft. Rooms here are not square. Rooms here are long and narrow which makes arranging furniture next to impossible. The water taste terrible, elevators are a luxury, and there are gypsies literally hanging out of every garbage can on every corner looking for scrap metal to sell, the parks are full of screaming, partying inconserdate assholes and their GD barking dogs until 5AM, and yes ...nightly. It's the noisest country in the world. You can't enoy a cup of coffee at a side walk cafe becasue the smell of the sewers, which, BTW, indendates every part of this city, overwhelming the senses. And it's not limited to outdoor cafes. You can smell the nearby sewers while in the subways (and not like in NY, its differnt), and you can even smell the seweres while shopping at the Cort Engles. In other words, no matter where you are, you can smell piss and shit .... everywhere, and I am not exagerating. Somedays are better than others, and it is indeed worse in the summer, but its a 365 day per year problem here in BCN and it reminds me of New Dehli. And, where you're not assulted by the smells of the BCN sewers, you'll never ever get away from the smell of cigarette smoke. You can not escape it anywhere in the city .... everywhere. It is a constant and never ending reality. Now, can we talk about how much GD dog shit there is here? Reader .... this city is a dog's toilet. I am forever ever stepping in dog shit. If you meander without watching the ground in front of you, you will step in fresh dog shit, I promise you. You can call city hall all you want in order to complain, but people will not pick up there dog's shit, anywhere in this city. Also, for being consdiered such a "world class city" (I use the term loosely) people here, for the emost part, do not speak English, and yes, it is important to speak English ... everywhere, especially if you have a business in a so called "world class city" What's good about BCN? Hard core crime is essetnially unheard of. I love that there are no guns, good public transportation, 3 seaons of comfy weather (summer is a living hell, feels worse than a Mississippi swamp), not a million homeless people everywhere, not a huge huge opiod problem like in the US. I also love that the prices of food are relatively cheaper than in the US, but I can see how expensive it is for the locals since 30K is considered "a decent salary" here. The people here are generally nice, however, I have to say that I find the Catalans to be extraordinarily passive, and, I'll just leave it at that. There .... I said it all of it, and it's all the truth. Don't believe me ....I urge all of you to visit Barcelona in August, and don't just stay in the tourist places .... see the entire city for what it is and you be the judge. I'm sure you'll find it as filthy and offensive as I do. (Alwsys keep a tissue in your pocket sprayed with Channel #5 adn rech for it when your senses are being assaulted. I promise that you'll need it, year round).

Its funny because you show the fact you don't know Barcelona is between 2 rivers and many hills. So of course its gonna be hills and you'll need to "climb". This is the Real Barcelona. Also about parks, wtf? Collserola is far but also Montjuïc? Where do you live? Also Park Güell is a park itself (the name self proclaim it) and there is a lot of smaller parks also all over the city. Plus in Eixample there is building insides where they can have whatever they like. I don't know, it looks to me much of non knowing really the city¿? Yeah and this (again about the 7 hills of Barcelona and the city itself being there) is why bicicles are a waste of time and money, this is why we use buses/metro and motorbikes because those are the best ways to get in there. Specially motorbikes, those are the perfect transport in Barcelona. Low cost flights in 2021: Not being able to travel¿? Plus the low cost flights are the reason why polution is so high. Or one of the biggest issues, and also one of the biggest issues about Gentrification. And then language, and you go against the language of Barcelona which is Catalan. So deffo you never reached where you moved to. Sorry to say. Its not that bla bla bilinguals bla bla. Is that you come to Barcelona and we have our own language. Adapt to it, please. Yes we can speak you spanish language. No problem. But if you go to the point of it, you'll find out that the spanish language was most used from the '60s when a lot of spanish poulation from another areas moved to Barcelona (and Catalunya in general) from Andalucia, Galicia, Extremadura etc.... and so they brought spanish language here. Yet for us is totally normal to, to not force our friends that can understand catalan but choose to speak spanish because it suits them better, let them speak spanish and we speak the language we are most comfortable with which can be catalan. And this is non disrespectful because we both understand the other speaker is talking the language that suits him/her better and respect the choice instead of trying to make them switch to another language in which they might or might not feel comfortable using. So it's as simple as that. I don't know you, i don't know where you come from but you look from somewhere in Spain and yeah, again I think you did Not did any research in the city you moved at. BR.
