This is lots of information on DL Moody, I was first Introduced about DL Moody his books and Bible study in our Bible college 2011 in Pakistan. Then I findout my husband's childhood pastor was got saved through DL Moody church in Chicago. I still own a DL Moody study Bible from Bible museum. So definitely enjoyed this video. On side note I never noticed you had over 1k subscribers. So congratulations 🎊 on that too.

Loved the singing from that children’s choir. Wow! I’ve heard a little about DL Moody on a few Christian radio stations. Thanks for this info. Now I’ve got more studying to do.

That is a beautiful church! I would love to visit it one day! I remember my wife showed me Moody Bible Institute and I was not too impressed but that church looks quite impressive though!

DL Moody was so humble and talked only of Jesus and his purest form that in 1871 was invited to speak at the LDS tabernacle in salt lake city. He was the first to speak here without being in the church. When you go to salt lake the first weekend of April for conference, you can take a tour of the Tabernacle and see the architectural similarities between it and the moody church. His message was so much of love that many there wrote it down in their books of remembrance. Where most preacher's at the time we're yelling hell fire and damnation, this man was exactly like Bing Crosby in boys town. His feelings and later teachings were focused on the gifts and life of Christ and his commandments than on his death. It's one of the reasons crosses are not prevalent. Of course he believed and taught of his amazing sacrifice and death for us, it's just not dwelt on so heavily. Thanks man!

Hey DJ, appreciate your insights as always. It's interesting to see how symbolism is so different in the variety of churches. Catholics have so many crucifixes, Protestant with crosses to represent the Resurrection, and I'm learning LDS has no crosses - instead the logo is purely Christ. I could see the similarity of the lack of decorations with the Moody Church, Quakers, Puritans, LDS, etc. I don't know enough (just finding this very curious to learn more about), but seems like religious leaders from the 19th century were getting the church buildings more to the basics of focusing on the spirit as opposed to the material items.

Grew up on the stories about D L Moody (my daddy was a pastor in Detroit and was born in 1903) I remember my dad preaching the same sermon over and over until the congregation got it! LOL

Went to the prep school he founded. Look up the DL Moody Society in Northfield MA that is continuing his legacy. He was an amazing man, and his writing, which can be found in abundance online are a wealth of information on Christian thought in the 19th century.

Good video, lots of nice background information. I read an awful lot of Spurgeon sermons but don't think I've ever read DL Moody ( Yet)
