Straight hair 1a (low porosity, medium strands) notes: Hair wash regimen every three days. Use normal shampoo on roots than use dandruff shampoo on the every 3 days for few minutes than use deep conditioner from mid way to hair ends for few minutes. Second step is towel down hair w microfiber towel. Than use a heat protectant mid to end of the hairs. Than use hair primer (like an oil) on roots only. Lastly, mostly blow dry the scalp while flipping head over. The scalp is mostly dry in few minutes. Use the hair oil only at the ends than use detangling brush w round tips from hair ends to roots. In dryer months, use a moisturizing hair spray/spritz to remoisturize the hair and use a extra moisturizer mask instead of deep conditioner.
I'm late to the party but thank you for this video, I've been trying to care for my hair and help it grow (hair stylists have an awful time cutting my hair) but most videos are about adding more oil and more proteins and not washing your scalp, which never works for me because any kind of build-up of oil inflames my scalp and makes it dry. For now I've found that if my scalp is dry, I'll massage it with a very small amount of aloe and just leave it throughout the day until I wash. Wish I had learned about low-porosity straight hair care sooner!
Years of "training" my scalp just made it so irritated! Washing when it needs to be washed solved the problem 😊 You just reminded me about aloe, I may pick up a tube to use on my scalp as well before showering!
My hair looks sooo much like yours but mine is definitely coarse and a 2b wave. I have dark hair and hazel eyes too, lol! I had poker straight hair growing up and didn’t know I had a wave until it was cut with layers, especially when I got a shag cut. The weight of my hair pulls the wave flat, as does brushing. I started following the curly girl method and have learned that my hair is wavier than I thought, and found that so many products are not suitable for my hair type. I also have scalp issues with Seborrhoeic dermatitis and since I started cutting coconut and Shea and proteins out, my scalp is doing a lot better and way less greasy. I think our hair gets build up very easily and it makes it even heavier and more limp or stiff. I also started using a scalp brush, since it needs lots of exfoliating. I would recommend you check out the Science-y Hair Blog if you haven’t yet.
Thanks for the recommendation! And I can confirm that my scalp can't stand extra products anymore, I notice it gets irritated quickly. Right now my natural oils don't irritate it as much so I just let it be my natural conditioning mask before a wash lol
I noticed that a lot of the products you use have protein and amino acid, and I’ve been reading that low porosity hair can easily build up and we shouldn’t use products with extra protein in them. But your hair looks beautiful! Do you notice if your hair is feeling brittle ever? Also, are any of the neroli/12-in-1 primer heat protectant? Thanks!!
Thank you for watching! My hair mostly felt soft from these products - I remember reading somewhere that certain protein ingredients are moisturizing and we don't need to worry about them in some haircare. I've changed up the products since though! (Need to do an update video soon for 2022 lol)
Oh God, I can't use any anti-dandruff shampoo including Head & Shoulder, they would burn my scalp like stretching it out super dry, itchy and hella burning!
Hi is it fine if I wash my hair only twice a week? Can I use a aloe gel on my hair and then shampoo? I use coconut oil and leave it on for an hour or so then wash it off. And I sun dry my hair instead of blow drying it
If washing twice works for you than why not! I've tried aloe gel on my scalp a couple of times back when my scalp felt irritated, and it did help soothe a bit before washing. Now that I use a pyrithione zinc shampoo, I haven't felt the need to use aloe gel.
