I absolutely am obsessed with this line! I usually buy Barbies (mostly Barbie Extra) for their clothes to put on my doll of choices (Licca and Jenny and friends dolls), but with this line I'll be getting all of them for the dolls! the fabrics look a lil bit better quality and the fashion is actually fashion instead of the boring ugly everyday looks that current Barbara's are wearing in the doll aisles. I don't know which is my fav, I love them all equally! I hope that as the series continues that they can catch up to the looks of Defa Lucy!
I saw a leak on these in March... all I could think "Barbie My Scene"... I feel like this is something they tried and didn't work out the first time. It is hard to re-invent the wheel... if the wheel works, why not just improve on it? I feel like they just try to find ways to make the current Barbie's more and more generic and cheap... Then they try to come out with new lines, throwing stuff against the wall to see what might stick. What if they took the current Barbie, painted her face better, made her full jointed, gave us rooted eyelashes and instead of cheap stretch polyester clothes, did clothes like they are doing for these???? I personal think that would fly off the shelf... but instead we are yet again being subjected to another new line that will most likely not be around in three years.

Part of the problem could be that we are looking at these dials through adult eyes and not the children that the dolls are intended for. It's just a thought...
Honestly, I’m glad that Mattel is trying with this new line, but at this point now that I’m getting older and I’m becoming a lot more picky with what I buy and money becomes tighter, I would very much rather buy older stuff because it’s cheaper. That is a quality is much better and the dolls are prettier. I plan on buying anything new on the shelves, I would rather put my money towards anything from rainbow high lol OMG dolls. And the icon that is kicking Barbie to the curb, miss defa Lucy 💖💖💖💖💖
I really like the new Barbies they are really cute. My favorite is the blond with the pink streaks in front she is beautiful 😍 but i wonder if they will require a different clothing size??? I will buy them when they come out. I wonder if they will be in our Walmart .
I will be honest, I was not at all excited about Barbie Dream Besties. I think I might be part of the few who really enjoyed the Barbie Extra line, despite some of the un-cohesive outfits. I completely agree that Barbie appears to be losing its identity, especially with this doll line.
Loved the intro, so pointed and so you! The Besties art looks good but I have to see them on the shelfs and even then. I think I am over Miss Defa though she is doing a great job. No Steffi Love news?
Mmmmm I dunno about the "investing a lot' part on Mattel's side, a bunch of molded accessories and cheap iridescent papery fabrics is not my idea of investing, it might look cute yes, but cheap ass dollar store materials are still cheap even if they're used in cute ways... To me it looks like even Defa Lucy invests more time and money on their dolls than Mattel who are one of the largest and most experienced companies worldwide and with 65 years of experience in the doll market... Honestly all they put out are cash grabs and lookalikes of whatever other brands are doing with as little investment as possible... The Asian character is by far the cutest to me but, oh shocker I won't be getting any unless on heavy clearance or second hand... i think you are spot on about kids not being interested in dolls anymore and only wanting merch in doll form of media they consume... For many years now creative play is not even in the map anymore and everything is turned into merch of a cartoon media.
They are scared of Bratz so this is their version of Bratz. They do not worry that it might be the quality and pixelated faces that is maybe changing peoples buying habits.
