right on...me too. I am about to start Loyally Luke. They have all been fun books. I, too, enjoy the text, email format better than the novelization part of the books though.
Glad you found a couple books you liked! I've thought about trying some of Pepper Basham's contemporary books. Izzy sounds like a good one for me since I like epistolary novels too.
Yes, I think Izzy is a good way to go for her contemporary books. I think Positively Penelope is also in letters but I'm not sure about Loyally Luke. I'll have to see if my library eventually orders them in.
I am glad that went better than you anticipated and that you actually really liked 2/3 is pretty good. I am bummed about The Blonde Identity.. I love a good romcom but want it to be closed door.
I really liked Authentically, Izzy too. If youre looking for another recommendation I LOVED both lf Becca Kinzer's books. By far my favorite rom-com author. Her books hace major Gilmore Girls vibes 😊
Three Romance novels in a row would be challenging for me, too! 😂 They're so iffy with me. I don't want to feel the need to rinse the spicy layer off my brain. Wholesome is more romantic, anyway. ❤ I'd love to see you read a week of Golden Age mysteries! The incomparable P. G. Wodehouse is one of my all-time favourite authors. I fell in love the second book so don't worry if it takes a bit. I have read all his books (nearly 80) multiple times and have a list of the 20 best. Clever, brilliant, witty, original and hilarious. I'm not a humour genre reader but Wodehouse is my exception. Thank you!
@ChantelReadsAllDay I really hope you become as besotted with him as me! My family all adore him so get togethers often include PGW antics and expressions. 😅
Lol! I have to say, from watching you for so long, the title of this vlog completely surprised me. 😂 I loved Izzy, so was happy to see you enjoyed it. I would agree, though, that I don't think you will enjoy Penelope 's story as much. As for romance authors, you might like Tammy L Gray. Her books have a little more depth to them with the romance. Also, I know you said Edmonton doesn't have a great selection of books, but Alberta has a provincial wide borrowing system, so if you haven't already, that might be something worth checking out. My public library is VERY lacking.....but there is at least one library around here that orders all the Christian fiction and that's where most of my books come from.😊
Haha, definitely out of my comfort zone! I have already requested a few books via the inter-library loan and suggested a few my library should purchase . . .
Christian romance is generally my genre of choice because it's easy to get into and not too much thinking is required 😂 It's an escape from the stresses of life. If you do this challenge again, I think you would enjoy Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay, super predictable but such a sweet story.
It would be interesting to see you try Realistic Alternative History genre. It is a niche sub-genre but there are some cool ideas that float around in it. Steam Punk is a major player there and there are lot of WW2 and American Civil War series about.
Hey, at least you had the courage to do it. That’s like me reading fantasy. 🤨I’m sorry but it was funny to see you revealing your choices. 😂 I hope you enjoyed the romance genre. Gold star for attempting! 👍🏻👏🏻
I read a lot of romance books. I read a lot of contemporary romance. I have a lot of favorite authors I like that write romance. I read books by Meghan Quinn, Elle Kennedy, Tessa Bailey and others.
Ooh, 100 Days of Sun Light sounds really good. I'll be adding that to my TBR! I love romance, but I like them to have depth in them. My favorites are usually action-packed or fantasy.
I'm totally with you. That's why I LOVED that one. Because the romance is mostly not them together. Her cousin "Luke" is the one that Anne and Nadia are talking about at the end of Clock Tower. :D
Ha ha haaaaaaaa! This was the best video ever! I’m with you on romance books, not something I read very often if at all. But watching you get excited about the first two and tab them up was adorable and hysterical!! Yes I think you should do it again for sure! I’ll have to look through my goodreads and see if I’ve read any that weren’t cringy.
Great video idea!! You stepped out of your comfort zone, but I'm guessing you feel it a success. Romance genre is great to read in summer esp when you are still settling in your new home❤
I love christian historical romance. Would love to see you give that a try! I just started reading some contemporary romance this year with a few more clean books becoming available. I do google if a book has spice before reading it. If it does I don't even bother with it. Such a fun video! ❤
Romance is usually my last choice of genre. If it's included in some other genre, fine, but I don't seek it out. I enjoyed this vlog quite a bit. LOL. I hope it's not cringy either...
You can use a book or an author for the “mentioned in another book”! I purposely left that vague, because I’m reading a book by an author mentioned in several books I read last year.
I know this is not the point of this video, but your Stardew interludes always make me happy! I play on the switch, so I don’t have mods, but yours always looks so fun!
Hehe, it's such a fun way to relax! The current one Jared and I are playing doesn't have mods but I think there was an update recently that has only gone to the computer version so far, I'm really enjoying it!
When i was getting back into reading in 2017-18, i read a lot of contemporary romance. I liked it a lot at the time (and thrillers). Now, i definitely don't decide "I want to read a romance", but if it's historical i seem to like it better (like Jane Austen's or Jane Eyre)...or if it's a side plot in any other genre i don't mind it. I think why i used to like it (and do in historical or classics) is because i like(d) watching HOW they get together and the emotions involved in it all. So i can be a little romantic at heart.😅😊
Love in Tandum was good to same author I usually hate romance but I really liked Becca Kinzer! Also I’ve read a book called ‘The Man in the Dark: A Rimance’ by Douglas Wilson and liked that one as well but mostly not into the genre!
I would like to see you do a week of mystery reading. Maybe in the fall? Most of the romance books I read are Chautona's because the romance doesn't feel as formulaic.
That was a fun video. I am late 40's, married over 20 years, and most romance books just aren't for me at all. I guess I'm not young and fun any more. ;) I attempted to read Tacos for Two a while back but promptly gave up on it.
I've never been a romantic. I'd rather Jared think of me on a random day and pick up a chocolate bar for me. Valentine's Day annoys me because I don't like the pressure or the idea that a certain day has to be special, I think it's the rebel in me.
I actually read that one earlier in the year! It was recommended in the Christian Fiction collab video I did and so I thought I would give it a try. I liked it, I think I gave it four stars.
I’d love to see you read sci fi or direct me to video if you’ve done that already, i seem to be very drawn to that genre lately and Im always looking for new recommendations
SciFi would be fun! I do have a video I made a year and a half ago sharing science fiction recommendations, I would have more to add now but it may be a good start: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E-66ZDyTy_I.html
Lol i just did a video talking about why i don't like christian contemporary romance anymore. I've never loved it, but now i usually DON'T like it. 3 and 1/2 stars usually. Too much romance. Insta love. All on physical looks. Not enough faith. I've heard there's an Agatha Christie tiny collection all on romance. I saw it at the library.🤷♀️😁
