Honestly about tool box security, I am not really worried with it on any tool box. If you want in pretty much any of them you can pull hard on the drawers or push sideways on the lid to open them. Even on the expensive boxes. My main concern is storage and organization. But... to each his own and that is OK!
I got the exact same setup (top & bottom box) shown here yesterday for $559.00 out the door, taxes and all. They rang up much cheaper than they we're marked. Pretty happy with them for what they cost. If you paid $350.00 for both, you got a heck of a deal!!
Maybe the boxes are heavier because they are bigger? Anyway thanks for the review, I've been looking for something I can use at work and I like these better than the Horrible Freight Series 3.
Just got the top and bottom box for $169 a piece. I also got the wood top rolling toolbox for $199. Check your local Walmart because they are on clearance now!
I just got the top for exactly $99 and the bottom for $109..plus 6.25% tax. They have one bottom tool box with the wood surface for $124 Northborough MA Walmart right now.
Got a very similar Husky toolbox for 399 at Home Depot Black Friday. It’s 42” wide however. And has 6 top and 9 drawers on bottom. Split 60/40 in width. Bottom box has 1 full width drawer.
I was able to get one half off. They had it on sale online or a glitch? They claimed it was a glitch but was on the website for over 3 weeks at that price. Seen it on the Den of tools facebook group. Not sure but after about a half hour of going back and forth they sold it to me. Was coming up for half off in store on the Walmart app so they couldn't really deny it. It was $379 out the door with taxes. Tried telling me it was not available online so I couldn't get it for that price. But when scanned at that store came up for $150 for the top and $199 for the bottom. Ultimately I was right and won out. It was the only one available within 100 miles of me. So I was not leaving until the price was given to me. Had photo's of people all over the US getting it at that price from Facebook.
Thanks for the great review - would you happen to know if your top box bulges out slightly at the level of the top shelf? Just unboxed mine and on the right hand side there is a visible bulge at the level of the shelf. On the left hand side there is a bulge that is less visible but can still clearly be felt. Just wondering if this is normal or if I may have received a defective one that I should return/replace. Thanks!
As far as the weight goes the Craftsman is about half as deep as the Hart. The weight may be easy to lift. Double it and then let's see. 100 pounds may be easy to lift. Try 200... Size is a factor here for the weight.. I wouldn't say the metal is any thicker. Just more of it. I could be wrong. Only one way to tell. Get your caliper out.
Don't get it's a trash can...put your stuff in this...lock it up...will work for six months but one day you will go to it out your key in and it will not unlock...you will go get your spare you have never used and it won't work either...it better not be an emergency....you better not have something important that you need to get done right away....because your going to want to use this for a trash can only by the time you get in it....it is extremely good for storage but don't lock it which is why you bought in the first place....
