Fair play to they ultras for St Johnstone. Good to see the smaller teams in Scottish football creating an atmosphere

As a Rangers fan it’s great to see other clubs in Scotland developing ultras, I think it’s great for Scottish football and it’s atmosphere. Younger generation should be more inclined to go and support their local team as it is more exciting for them to go. I have noticed Motherwell are starting the same. I could be wrong but I think now that the union bears have really upped their game in the past few years it’s starting to set a trend!

Just goes to show that you don't need 75,000 to create a fabulous atmosphere, well done Saints. Don't the Scots just love their footie. Love your channel, great video once more

Great video sam. John mahon who played the full 90 minutes at centre half for StJohnstone, was signed over the winter from Sligo Rovers in Ireland. Celtic also signed a youngster called Johnny Kenny from us aswell. You should visit over the summer Sam🔴

REGARDING ULTRAS. Football fan culture was created in Scotland in the late 1800S by the Scottish and Irish. The forerunner for supporters travel clubs were called BRAKE CLUBS. They were horse drawn vehicles. ( THAT HAS JUST TRIGGERED MEMORIES OF SEEING THE PARTICK THISTLE FANS TRAVELLING IN FURNITURE VANS AND ON THE BACKS OF LORRIES IN THE 1950s FOR MIDWEEK GAME'S AS THEY WOULD GO STRAIGHT FROM WORK.) THEIR FANS WOULD GO CRAZY WHEN THEY HAD A SHY( A THROW. IN ) The clubs had their own expensive and ornate banners. The supporters walked( I can't be bothered with the marching description for everything football or non football related crowds:) They sang, shouted, chanted and waved flags and banners, had whistles,drums bells, bugles and ricketies. Street gangs became a problem, territorial and sectarian. Glasgow had its OLD FIRM RIVALRY Rangers v Celtic Edinburgh's Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian to a much lesser degree. Belfast's Linfield v Celtic Big TWO Derby which started a few years later;had the same rivalry. As the OldFirm. Dublin followed with THE Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians Derby, It has something to do with social standing ( a class war)in the city.???? The North East Derby NEWCASTLE UTD V SUNDERLAND STILL HAS A Big rivalry AS THE CITIES ARE ONLY 12 MILES APART and both have very loyal supporters. Both are well over due the success that they used to have. Boca Juniors v River Plate in Argentina has the same kind of rivalry as the Dublin Derby. Today in most Derbies around the world they are described as; the most bitter, hated, and deadliest rivals. The Vast majority of football SONGS originated in Scotland and the now Northern Ireland and Ireland. In the early 1960s some English recordings of Scottish and Irish football songs breached copyright laws. In the 1950s60s70s their used to be shops with one wall full of Rangers/ Linfield/loyalist singles, e.ps and l ps. and another full of Celtic and Republican recordings. Rangers Had the biggest and best organised official supporters club. That was from an English football annual and a BBC UK. midweek sports programme. There was an English journalist and later an ex footballer who set the standard to laugh at and mock Scottish football he was a great goal scorer. He was jovial but meant what he said about Scottish football. It snowballed to brutal assessment of our standard of football from Mediocre players and the ones that were apologies for footballers and went for the man;not for the ball.
