Today i'm trying to keep up with what you all are saying about her and keep getting pulled into watching all of your reactions to each other. I love the look Greg gets like he's the cat that's gotten the canary at times. Scott you look monotone and matchy to your background today not jaundiced but definitely sepia toned (like outside looks today, you match that (california). I think i see the reason that Mark is good for the wrap up (besides his charisma and maybe being more comfortable in front of a camera) and this is just my opinion but just watching between Greg Chase and Scott when you all are speaking the you can see thinking going on on each other's faces. Greg will get the bird and Chase will smile and Scott will nod. While Mark seems to just absorb at that time. Once you all are done picking it apart that's when the ball gets tossed to Mark to take it to score (which is when you three seem to have had your say and seem to just absorb what Mark is saying) Very fun to watch and learn and a way better way to learn about people who lie than to learn from the liars themselves. Thank you all for all your work on this and I look forward to more.

@@l.r.norris6519 sorry. I didn't put it very well, what I was trying to say is that once the police had made the accusation of murder it would be natural for her to see any interview as a chance to explain/exonerate herself, even though. as you can see from this, it will never happen, she just can't help but try. For her, the first interview was the police, and she is still trying to get that right. Second point, not related to the above, if you don't interview, that's also seen as a sign of guilt.

It's unbelievable to me that people still think this woman had anything to do with her roommate's death. RUDY GUEDE admitted to being there, admitted to having sex with Meredith, fled the country after her murder, and was a known criminal. But I guess his story of going to the bathroom after they had sex, listening to headphones really loud and then coming out to find her murdered sounds reasonable to you? Also it's amazing how everyone seems to be an expert on how you're supposed to act when you're standing outside of a murder scene. Listen to any podcast Amanda has done recently, she comes across as a very perceptive, intelligent woman that is very self-aware and gave a very detailed account of what happened. She lived through a real nightmare and to have people STILL all these years later insist that she's a murderer is just unfair.

@@thomas-marx Why? All Guede does is lie about the case. He's still claiming his ridiculous "Meredith invited me over and she was attacked by people (I can't name or I'd be sued for defamation) while I was in the bathroom, I tried to save her" lies.
@Helenwheels370
@Helenwheels370 5 месяцев назад
@@thomas-marx 1) "significantly more information is shared other than what the court allowed or what was in the press." The court records are quite extensive: depositions, forensic result reports, pathology reports, police records, police notices, testimony transcripts, phone logs, texts, prison and phone intercepts, scientific articles, motivation reports, cell tower coverage etc. If you have a link to this "significantly more information", I'd like to see it. But I have to wonder why all this information is not in the official court records? 2) "And then you can come to your own conclusion" I came to my conclusion based on the evidence from the sources I listed above plus the opinions expressed by other experts such as Prof. Peter Gill and Prof. Greg Hampikian. I first believed in Knox s and Sollecito's guilt until it became clear, through educating myself on the evidence, that they were not guilty. 3) "My opinion is that he was an easy scapegoat and she is guilty as hell." Based on what evidence? If he was an 'easy scapegoat' then why did Knox tell the police, in writing, within a few hours that she doubted what she had said really happened and that her memories seemed 'unreal' and 'more like a dream' than reality? Why did she tell them the next day, in writing, that her mind was more clear and now she knew it never happened and that she "couldn't know who the real murderer is because I never went back to the cottage"? I suggest you read up on 'coerced-internalized false confessions'. 4) "I was a psych nurse for many years. And i got a good feel for being manipulated by masters. She's not that good, but she's good. She just has no feelings of guilt." Police tend to believe they are better than most when it comes to detecting lies but studies show they are no better than anyone else. I'm sure you do think you have 'a good feel for being manipulated' just as police think they're good at detecting deception despite the studies that say otherwise. OR they and you are examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Putting aside your belief that Knox is a manipulator, exactly what EVIDENCE places either Knox or Sollecito in the cottage that night, much less in Kercher's bedroom? Unless you can answer that, all the presumed "good feels" in the world are irrelevant.

Psychopathic tendencies. It's called manipulation. Not saying she did it, but she most definitely obstructed justice.
@Helenwheels370
@Helenwheels370 4 месяца назад
@@memi4586 "Psychopathic tendencies" ? There are psychopathic TRAITS, not "tendencies". By the way, Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, who is a cognitive psychologist, gave Knox a psychopathy test and he concluded that her "...psychopath score is extremely low" and that she is "actually not a psychopath...not a psychopath according to my test and (she) actually came out "strongly tipped toward the light side..." "... this is a scientifically valid test. It's not just like the Meyer Briggs which isn't." Dr Kaufman also said she "scored very high in faith in humanity" and scored "very, very low in psychopathy ". She also scored "very, very low (in) strategic exploitation and deceit." Note the last sentence: manipulation is "strategic exploitation and deceit". So a cognitive psychologist who tested Knox disagrees 100% with your claim. Dr. Kaufmann discusses this starting at 43:42 on The Psychology Podcast interview with her titled "The Real Amanda Knox". As for "obstructing justice", that's nonsense. Obstruction of justice is intentional. A coerced false confession is not obstruction of justice. Besides, she recanted the statement about Lumumba and going to the cottage in writing within hours. Are you aware that Knox's conviction for defamation against Lumumba was annulled last fall by the Italian Supreme Court because her right to a lawyer and an impartial interpreter were violated? She was granted a new trial which begins on April 10 and the ;prosecution cannot use those two signed statements from the interrogation because they were obtained illegally by the police.

I got an it was the moment reality finally set in kind of feeling. She seems to have completely disassociated from the scene, the crime and the victim. It might mean she can't believe she did it and has completely compartmentalized it, or it might actually be a coping mechanism. From the bloody footprint onwards, all the key details are like a vague dream that she's never quite connected to. Even as it was happening she was disconnected from it.... ignoring an unlocked door and a bloody footprint, asking her bf if she's crazy or not to be concerned etc. But that scream woke her from her slumber and made it real.

@Marvin Seifert The fascination is in the 'what' and 'why' of the analysis and learning from four expert perspectives on the body language displayed in the interview. Given that they are very clear about not trying to establish or comment on guilt or innocence, I think maybe you have attributed sufficient personal emotional attachment to the case for the point of the analysis to have bypassed you. What I don’t understand is why did she first state that she was in the house when it happened and she heard her ex boss (Patrick Lumumba) trying to sexually assault Meredith and murdered her. Amanda first said she had to cover her ears because of Meredith’s screams. Patrick Lumumba had a family, and owned a bar where Amanda worked, he got arrested, he lost his business and many dear ones, and to this day he says Amanda’s false statement ruined his life. So why is she now saying that she was not in the house and has a completely different version of the story? Was she or was she not in the house? If she wasn’t in the house when it happened, why did she first say that she was? As a bilingual person I have to say one thing in Amanda's defence: you can testify in a foreign language successively but you also may leave things to native speakers to communicate in more confusing, emotional, potentially legally difficult situation. There is a VAST ocean of things the person may not be able to understand or correctly pick up when the conversation is quick, loud, possibly tainted with jargon or accent. I learn English since I was 12 and at the age of 44 I still learn it. Despite living and breathing the UK for the last 14 years I still switch on high attention mode when I listen to professionals or natives in commotion, shut up and distance myself leaving the talking to others.

I notice how so many people project certain qualities onto her - things like she's a spoiled rich girl, but her family isn't rich at all and it doesn't sound like she had any more of a spoiled life than all these other ordinary middle and lower middle class people in America, or other countries. Another thing they focus on is her looks and how she manipulates people with her looks etc. Personally, I think she was attractive back then when this case first broke, but nothing special. After being questioned repeatedly for 7 years, over and over and over, why do you find it strange that she would have statements memorized? Who wouldn't? You have to remember that according to Chase, in the panel's first Amanda video, they are PRETENDING that this was one of her very first interviews right after the rape/murder occurred, not an interview 7 years later. Quote from Chase: "We're gonna pretend like we're the ones that watched this video right after everything happened." The big question I have from Amanda's testimony is why Meredith was wrapped in a blanket and put in a cupboard. If it was a break in that went wrong, why didn't they just leave her where they killed her. It is as though someone was getting ready to remove her body from the premises and decided to hide her body very poorly. This to me would indicate someone from the house did it or one of their boyfriends and got spooked.
@wedp112
@wedp112 3 года назад
Maybe it has to do with the killer has remained in the same house, unlike someone who would break in and run away they are forced to deal with looking at the body, or seeing the face of the person. That may be something they don't want to be reminded of. Im trying to remember where I read it, but there was something about hiding the face, the eyes in a murder not just for concealment but maybe an emotional attachment, possibly sex crime. You are probably right with preparing to discard the body, but I imagine it would be too difficult to do because someone was bound to come back soon. Maybe there is too much going on in and around where they lived. So they sat for sometime contemplating what they could do, in the end they just covered her up and pretended to find her.

A couple things stood out to me. One is how everything was strange and confusing. No fear, sadness or worry. It wasn’t upsetting either. No emotions you’d expect from having someone you know fairly well, murdered and discovering the body. The second was when she talked about the actual discovery. Her friend, or roommate was screaming. The way she described it was as if she was annoyed. The way she told it and her body language seemed to say, “What are you screaming for? Stop overreacting. It’s not that big of deal.” Almost akin to, “She opened the door and saw a spider crawling on the floor and she started screaming and just kept screaming. Geez, it’s just a spider.” Seems almost sociopathic in a way. Like she didn’t have the emotional range to understand how finding a dead body could be upsetting to someone. Also, I don’t know much about this but she said that immediately after the door was kicked in, the screaming started. If the body was wrapped in a blanket and stuffed into a cabinet of some sort, how would any of them have known the state of the body without going into the room, opening the cabinet and/or unwrapping the body? To quote Amanda Knox, “It was just so strange.”

I didn’t watch any of the trials and never heard of the case. Only said it was strange. Not much different than what this panel did and is exactly what they said they were going to do. Only commenting on the behavior picked up from the video except they watched pervious recordings for their baselines and not referring to any evidence or even the trial for that matter. I agree. Knox's language and behavior indicates that she found Filomena's reaction to either be 'annoying' or overtly dramatic, which speaks volumes to her lack of empathy and inability to connect emotionally to other's. It's as though she genuinely cannot understand why Filomena was so emotional and thus screaming hysterically, yet it was just discovered that their roommate was brutally murdered, and IN THEIR HOME. Amanda's body language, repetition in quoting Filomena and her reaction, and the tone and manner in which she reports it indicates a genuine lack of emotional connectivity, making Knox unable to tolerate, let alone understand why Filomena behaved as such, and this is merely one example of her detached emotional state. This complete inability to understand human emotions and emotional behaviors is a hallmark of psychopathy. Psychopaths merely cannot understand or relate to other's emotional responses to sadness, fear, empathy, or anxiety, as they themselves are unable to experience these emotions. Most develop the ability to mimic these emotions, and they understand the social construct, but not the fundamental reason behind it.

@@alabama.worley this makes sense, and I agree that AK has this type of personality, and it obviously got her into a lot of trouble, but does this make her the murderer? could it be that the enduring mystery of this case is that AK had this kind of 'dissociative' personality and found herself in the middle of this situation? Obviously from the get-go she was 'on trial' because of her odd behavior. Her mother seems like a kook, and then there was a strange family dynamic, her parents were separated when she was an infant, and then her mother later marries a much younger man and has three more children by him (all girls). Amanda is this strange combination of driven, studious, creative, intelligent and even INTELLECTUAL and bookish person, combined with a giddy, childish, almost 'wanton' side. On top of that she was and is very beautiful, so there is the potential for 'high combustion' here! she very well could have hated Meredith, and no doubt Meredith found her very annoying, maybe impossibly so. But does that mean AK MURDERED her? I am inclined to think she is innocent, because, IMO, even though she acts goofy and inappropriate, her actions are not the actions of a killer. Unless she is just absolutely schizoid, which I suppose is possible but then we should have more indications of that in other areas of her life. When she makes the comment in the video about Filomena screaming (and seems to be annoyed by it), I sort of 'agree' with her, because that would annoy the crap out of me also. People react differently in these situations. I think Amanda was and is a very self-absorbed person, who lives life like it is a movie and she is the lead actress. She is not 'naturally empathetic,' she wanted to be a creative writer, not a nurse or social worker. Probably, for her, the whole unfolding tragedy of MK's murder, the investigation, interviews, etc. were a novel series of events and she was perhaps actually enjoying the attention and novelty on some level. She was not naturally empathetic and had not learned sufficiently how to 'fake it.' Next time around I bet she will be sure to scream and cry and act in the socially appropriate way. As I have said in other comments, maybe it is not that she is lying, but that she doesn't know HOW to lie! It astonishes me that people will think she is lying and then they watch the interviews with Rudy Guede and find him believable. My theory is that he is 'believable' precisely because he is a highly skilled liar! He is smooth as silk. Judging from what we know about his life story, he probably learned to lie at a very young age, and lived by his wits and lied on a daily basis, as a drug dealer, petty 'cat burglar,' police informant (or all of the above). Amanda, on the other hand, grew up privileged and lived in this 'bubble' (until her arrest for MK's murder). Right up until the moment they put the cuffs on her, and even AFTER that, it didn't occur to her that they considered her a suspect (she thought they were just going to detain her a few days as a 'formality' for her protection). A shrewd killer does not act this way. A shrewd killer does not lead the police to the murder scene, a shrewd killer does not stage a break-in but forget to steal something to make it look plausible. A shrewd killer doesn't do splits and cartwheels when they know they are being watched by the police. You have to try to get into the mindset of someone who committed this crime. Unless, as I admitted above, AK is a full-blown psychopath (as of course many people believe). If that really is the case, she is one of the most remarkable ones EVER, considering that she mastered Italian (in her prison term as a model prisoner), and then RETURNED to Italy to give a speech for The Innocence Project, showing really superlative poise and courage in even attempting to do this, after what had transpired. There was no need at that time for some over-the-top elaborate 'ruse' to 'cover' her - she had already been exonerated, she was free and clear. Talk about returning to the scene of the crime (if we suppose she is guilty)! It just doesn't add u for me, so at this writing, I am INCLINED to say she is innocent. But it does still seem that she is hiding something, that something is nagging her conscience.

However, it's important to note here that she did not speak Italian well at all when the crime occurred; by the time she went to trial, she certainly DID speak Italian much better because she'd been held in jail for some time. (I am a TESOL/ESL teacher who has worked decades to become fluent in Spanish, and I can manage passably in other languages.) So in her defense on the language front, I believe there's a real gap between how well she spoke Italian at her arrest and then her approaching fluency by the time of the trial.

Then there is the Italian Method for obtaining a confession, 1) Make sure there is no lawyer or a tape recorder there. 2) write a confession on paper in a foreign language that she can't understand by just trying to read it. 3) Keep applying a high level of persuasion until she signs it

Around 31. Mark, I see Amanda's distaste is about Filomena (spelling) screaming --- she's annoyed that Filomena is carrying on ..... not about the "body". She talks about Meredith as though she is an object --- a body.... She thinks that Filomena's hysteria is annoying and more than that she is slightly patronizing about Filomena's reaction ---

Yes, Isn't Philomena the roommate that is super clean? I was going to mention in the first video about this. Amanda gave me the impression that she was proud of being CLEAN herself, but was jealous of Philomena being even CLEANER than she was. She had no problem talking about Meredith's room being a mess, but she seemed to MOCK how much cleaner Phil was than herself. And then later when she's describing Phil's reaction to seeing inside the bedroom door, Amanda seemed to go out of the way to detail how 'over-reactive' Phil was, almost rolling her eyes about it. Me thinks she doesn't care for Philomena!

Didn’t think she committed the murder however it always felt like there was a lot more to it. It didn’t help her that she comes across as a very strange lady. I found it very distasteful for the victims family that she wrote a book.

There is more to her than meets the eye. Not suggesting she murdered Meredith but she knows more than she's letting on. Meredith's family believed she was guilty. No doubt Meredith would have communicated information about her relationship with Knox. They did not get on.

The interview is certainly very odd. I suspect she was naive/ irresponsible youth and that the incident severely traumatized her... so possibly I'm looking at Arrested Development. Also I wonder if the odd way of describing things has something to do with the initial interviews being done in a foreign language... but mostly I think she spun up this whole story to elicit sympathy for herself so she does not go back.

What I never understand, isn't it totally normal to make affirmative head movements and look for approval when you are telling a story, *especially* when you have been in jail and you know half the people believe you're guilty and half the people don't? Of course you ty to "sell", especially if you feel you are being suspected. Being suspected puts anyone's guard up, and makes them careful. How does that make anyone suspicious?

I like and appreciate that they do explain themselves. As they said, there’s a reason why behaviour analysis’s can’t be used in court. It is a touchy subject. A lot of people watch things like this then think they’re some sort of expert...which is dangerous when often times even the actual experts themselves are wrong.

@@MugenTJ Well, just because she didn’t do it doesn’t mean she isn’t being deceitful somehow. That’s the thing...this stuff isn’t overly helpful and they certainly can’t be used in court. She could be hiding something that has nothing at all to do with the case but might be acting a certain way because of that. I watch these videos for entertainment purposes only.
