In this video, I will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to write the Contributions of a Study for your research paper, thesis, dissertation, or research project. I will cover all types of research contributions including theoretical contributions, practical contributions, and methodological contributions and show you how to write your research contributions using my 3-step approach. I will also provide several practical examples from my past studies to show you how you can apply my method to write the contribution of your study.

Thank you professor. Contribution is one the critical areas in which novel researchers like myself are confused as well as fearful. Your video explains most of it and cherry on the cake was the example from your recent research papers. May God richly bless you for these efforts.

Prof. Saeed. I have a question. If most studies available in literature are using panel data and very few studies use time-series, would it be a significant contribution if i mention in my thesis. Moreover, is using a different proxy for measurement of a variable "in new relationship", a contribution as well ? I would be obliged for your comment@@saeedsharif

I'm covering all five chapters of introduction, literature review, methodology, results, and discussion one by one. So far I've made several videos on introduction and literature review and this video is among them. So stay tuned! :) Could you please tell me more about yourself and your research?

Thank you for all your educative videos. they made me understood the expectations from each sub-title of research ever than before. My question is, is the contribution of the study the same as the significance of the study?
@saeedsharif
@saeedsharif 9 месяцев назад
Thank you for your nice comment and question. They are different. Contributions of the study indicate what you have added to the body of knowledge. Significance of the study indicates why conducting this study is important. I have discussed significance of the study in my other videos too.

@saeedsharif

Thank you for your comment. :) Empirical contributions, which I explained in the video, are synonymous with practical contributions.
@anitalow3628
@anitalow3628 Год назад
In my humble opinion, to present the extension/integration contribution, we may first present the STEP1 (aware of the present knowledge), followed with STEP2 - Gap and STEP 3 - contribution. Then, we repeat again the STEP 2 to show the another gaps and STEP 3 for the other contribution. This processes can be repeated several times depending on number of gaps we want to address.

For the theoretical contribution _Further explanation, in the first step, we show the inconsistencies in previous studies. What should we write in second step before we proceed to third step? The third step is clear cut which we merely present our contribution such as proposing moderator to answer how and in what condition.
@anitalow3628
@anitalow3628 Год назад
in other words, what is the purpose of this sentence "based on a contingency approach ..."?
@saeedsharif
@saeedsharif Год назад
You need to highlight the research gap in the second step. See 5:30 at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eY86SkYW-Ls.html We stated that "little is known about ...", this is the second step and highlighting the research gap :)

Please What do you mean when you say“ to the understanding of the mechanisms.... I asked because the word MECHANISM runs in all the articles you displayed
@saeedsharif
@saeedsharif 9 месяцев назад
That's a very good question. By mechanism, I mean why, how, when, or under which conditions the relationship between 2 variables work? So, I mean testing mediation and moderation models.

Thank you for the question. No necessarily. Just report those that are relevant to your work. Your research should have at least one of the contributions that we discussed in the video.

@@saeedsharifor How the communication tips with the Malysia supervisors? Especially when you have disagreements?
@saeedsharif
@saeedsharif Год назад
 @lydiazhang7390 Well... Not all people are the same. However, I can share my personal experience with you. As you may know, I lived in Malaysia for 15 years, and I'm quite familiar with the culture. Malaysian culture tends to place importance on hierarchical structures. As you know, Malaysians have a high level of power distance. So, show respect for your supervisor's position and communicate with utmost politeness. Patience is key, and it is important to avoid confrontational or aggressive tones in your communication. Maintain a calm and respectful demeanor. Next, try to approach your supervisor's comments with a positive attitude. They may have valid points worth considering. See if you can relate their feedback to your work and determine the extent to which you can apply it. When sharing your own points, make use of relevant literature and similar studies. Support your arguments with evidence and references. When doing so, seek your supervisor's advice on the evidence you are presenting. However, I acknowledge that despite your best efforts, there may be instances where none of these approaches work. Every situation is unique, and it's essential to adapt your communication style accordingly. Remember, effective communication is based on respect, active listening, and a willingness to consider different perspectives. By demonstrating a positive attitude and engaging in constructive dialogue, you can navigate disagreements with your supervisors in a more productive manner.

@@saeedsharif "respect, active listening, and a willingness to consider different perspectives" Dr. ,very thanks for your useful suggestions. I will keep in mind and put it into practice. Thanks a lot. I passed the PD last month, but there are still some sections need to be improved, like introduction and problem statement. Your videos made me more clear how to revise my proposal. Thanks again, dr. Looking forward to your updates.

@@lydiazhang7390 Congratulations!! It is very normal to receive comments. To address the comments, be patient and maintain a positive attitude. Personally, I never start working on addressing the comments immediately. I read the comments and then close the file for at least 2 or 3 days. Afterward, I revisit the comments, read them carefully, and start working on them. I might even make a video about it later.
