Not what I expected, but still really good. Interesting backstory for the design too. It’s also cool to see him lined up with the other sins. Just seeing how their different features, seizes and colours contrast with each other. It’s really inspiring work.

4:07 i completely agree with you on this. i don't HATE their demon forms, but they're definitely disappointing, especially when you compare them to STOLAS'S demon form. how does a goetia - ranked LOWER than the 7 princes - have a more horrifying, genuinely intimidating demon form than the 7 deadly sins??? i was especially disappointed with lucifer's (and charlie's) "demon form" in hazbin hotel because ... there was hardly a change; all he got was a halo, red eyes, and a tail. him and charlie honestly looked more like stereotypical costumes you'd find on the internet when looking for something to wear on halloween 💀

I genuinely think that Viv is scared of making her characters with human forms or characteristics "ugly" or "monstrous" but like... They're demons? Let them be horrifying when they need to be, they're in hell and demons aren't supposed to be attractive anyway

@@FurKid_the_Gg_roo_99 honestly, i don't even think deadlines can be used as an excuse, ESPECIALLY in the morningstars' cases. viv has had YEARS working on hazbin hotel's production to give the royal family of hell demon forms fit to their name, but all she could come up with was just some tails and red eyes??? lucifer and charlie's demonic forms look basic compared to ALASTOR'S, which makes it worse because he's not even a goetia or a prince or anything of high rank: he's a SINNER, and yet he somehow got a more menacing-looking form than the king and princess of hell :///

Mammon re-imagined seems like the type of old over lord that doesn't like to complicate shit and is more straight forward, he seems is more indering in a way. Idk why, but, now that his Scottish its just funny imagining him getting mad and yelling at someone 💀
Honestly Mammon being depicted as a human hobo despite being the sin of greed was funny, i kinda like that the sepia colors makes Mammon look old-fashioned and helps him stand out amongst the princes even as the Scrooge of Hell.
If there's one thing I like about Viv's Mammon, it's that, personality-wise, he's the only Sin who feels like he is what he's supposed to be. All he cares about is making money, he wants more just for the sake of it, and he doesn't care what he has to do to get it. By contrast, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Lucifer are too nice and lack bite. Beelzebub shouldn't care why people are overindulging or if it hurts them; Asmodeus shouldn't care about consent, boundaries, or how unethical love potions are; and Lucifer shouldn't care about anyone but himself and should never admit he was wrong. Yeah, this would make them unlikable, but they're THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS.
Not even unlikeable. It'd make them interesting!! Plus they're in hell so like... Why are they trying to make sympathetic and nice characters?? I thought hell was supposed to be bad/horrible. Like just let characters BE bad 😭😭
@@T_E_G EXACTLY! Making them nice also ruins their whole aesthetic to me. They're supposed to be the embodiment of the things that drive human souls to ruin; why not let them revel in the pain they can cause? I get that Viv is probably trying to subvert expectations by making some of the Sins nice, but she's done it so many times that it's become a cliche in her own story. I was actually more taken off guard that she let Mammon be evil. She wants to make stories about demons in hell, but, with a few exceptions, won't let them BE demons. Demons are supposed to be evil.

Maybe Mammon was greedy with his history too which is why you can’t really find anything on him outside of his sin, crazy but now that I think about it there are those who hoard knowledge you could say that their greedy. Greed really is one of the scariest sins out there.

Man, I didn't get spider vibes from Vivziepop's Mammon Design until you pointed it out lmao I can't tell if that's my own stupidity or all the layers in his costume cause he really looked more like a house centipede with all the arms. His hat kinda resembled an antenna as well.
I actually completely love this for Mammon; especially with the correlation between dragons as they're infamous for their greed, in addition to dwarfs like Thorin and Tolkein's Dragon/Gold sickness. In Norse Mythology a dwarven king was so corrupted by greed he outright turned into a dragon himself and slew his kin just to hoard is treasure. Long story short this direction and design for Mammon is a total win in my eyes.
I think FizzyOzz can still work since they can meet at royal meetings and since the accident allows Fizzaroli to hide what he is you can say Ozz was curious about Fizz.
I really like this take on the sin. So many people lump greed into a very narrow box of just rich people flaunting riches when I think there’s a lot more going on with it. Like you said greed is so intertwined with human nature that everyone will experience it from the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor. Although it is a bit more of an abstract concept with a broad reach which is why so many people struggle to create characters around the concept I think you did a very good job of tackling multiple aspects of greed without falling into the usual enterpretations while still making it clear what he’s supposed to be. In a way you have also made him a bit of a tragic character as well he’s still bad and is still a detriment to humanity but having his mind be gone adds a bit of layers to him while the Mamon in the show although fun to watch doesn’t have much staying power so I doubt we will be seeing much of him in the future as there’s not much else to explore of the character unlike yours where I could see several episodes dedicated to him and the characters around him. Despite you not being fond of tackling the character I think you did a very good job and I’m thankful you took up the task.

I do like this more elderly and more "A little of his time" look to him. This just makes the idea of him and Lilith being nice to each other, I can definitely see him maybe asking about Lucifer, but not really being interested in meeting Luci, since he already knew the guy, he's just making sure he's still alive. Him and Leviathan was also a nice surprise, the idea of Leviathan in all their splendor, enjoying Mammon's company to make cursed trinkets for them. Oddly wholesome considering how neither of them are particularly the most.....well liked. I really do love this design! It makes him really feel like an Old King under the mountain, or in his workshop or forge.

I love the original Mammon and your version. I just imagine your version of Mammon being such an old man although he has lost his sanity, I like to think he is just a grumpy old man and if you try to talk to him, He wants you to repeat it cause bad hearing and he can only hear the voices of his insane greedy voices

As for your version of Fizz representing Mammon, I would imagine him to be the lucifuge demon, who is the inspiration for Mammon in the series canon (being depicted as both a jester and as the financial manager from hell). For the design and story of Fizz/Lucifuge, I would like to see Mammon found a trilobite fossil in one of these precious stones and decided to create a faithful servant/ambassador by reviving him, spanking "Lucifizz" into a jester half-golem trilobite mi undead. Ps: "Lucifizz" would have no interest in rare metals or precious stones but above all loves useless stones/rocks (like chalk or coal).
I adore the way you display greed, in that greed is so inticing it envelops a person and could turn them paranoid (as Mammon has become). I learn so much from these videos in both art and biblical info, cant wait to see what u come up with next :]
When I sent the donation, I hadn't even registered it was for the Greed sin; this was worth every penny. I found this channel through your Helluva Boss redesigns; your designs added much visual depth to the characters. I'm so excited to see the complete line-up!! I wasn't going to reveal myself until this video's release; I was afraid you'd see my comments and would've felt pressured to work on Mammon more (yes, I understood the irony). I'm currently between jobs, but I plan to send a big tip once I have the funds; from one artist to another, keep up the fantastic work!
I ADORE the line-up at the end, because just the COLORS!! One of my favorite things in media is the color coding for each character. They just stand out so good!!
I love how your Mammon design having long gray beard+hair, a dad bod, a bunch of gold accessories (some on his beard+hair), and a grumpy demeanor, combined with your idea of "Mammon with a scottish accent", creates this hilarious side effect of him resembling a Tolkien/Warhammer dwarf, which fits perfectly for his love for gold and jewels I also love how all of your designs, redesigns and reimaginings look consistently great, but at the same time actually look like Vivzie's artstyle. It makes them look even more authentic
It’s also kinda odd how the show’s design of Mammon is jester based (in general+) when Fizz is already jester based and is the one who actually acts like a jester (at least in Ozzies), I guess it’s more why does MAMMON himself dress like that
In the show it's weird how mammon displays most of the seven deadly sins but represents greed. Whilst the other sins have there's to a lesser extent. I mean the the ming could be different like for gluttony it dosen't have to be food. Or Asmodeus dosen't have to be lustful himself but rather inspire lust. Like in Fma brotherhood we're lust is more bloodlustful, but helluva boss feels more confused about the nature of these sins. Like wrath also includes solenes in Dante's depiction. So perhaps Mammon desires non material possessions but can never require them to give him a more unique personality then the other sins.
Your mammon reminds me of my great grandpa , he has a tendency of talking to himself and saying that we are poor and people are going to arrest us and take our money away .
What peeves me most about the original design is the fact that Mammon doesn’t look like his citizens at all. We could have gotten a clown jester skeleton dinosaur but instead we got a thicc spider Christmas tree and the missed potential will forever irk me.
I find it funny that you described Leviathan and Mammon's relationship in Leviathan's video as "loveless" but here, its theyre married in all but name and vocal admittance. Makes me think that Leviathan downplays the relationship while Mammon can admit say that he cares about Leviathan
I think it's really cool that his design is not super shiny or flashy because 1. greed can manifest in so many different ways, not just gems and precious metals and 2. of course someone who's terrified of having his wealth be stolen is not going to wear it around where it can fall, be pick-pocketed, etc.
I love this! such an unquie take on greed! I like that he himself isn't shiny or fancy but decorates and surrounds himself with things that make him seem like that.
Honestly Pride and Greed are like- THE strongest sins istg. You need Pride to have any of the other sins but Greed gains power from them all too. Imagining this incredible old greedy man and Lucifer as these sort of final boss types of things that any sanw demon would never dream of trying to face against. Especially with these designs ohhh theyre all so incredible
I don't agree with the original design making sense but i can understand the spider, ie web/net, inspiration. The Christmas tree got me for a bit but the greed and commercialisation around Christmas did get a chuckle when i figured it out i must admit
His design reminds me of what my dad looked like, just more demonic cause (Mammon is a fallen angel aka demon-) but uh ye I love the reimagined version of him and the other sins and hope to see what you got planned for the all time famous Satan
About the symbolism of the color of greed, purple is historically known as a color for royalty and nobles, i think purple would be perfect for the ruler of the greed ring
In one of the shows that I watch, one of the characters embodies greed in way that is interesting to me. They are essentially a character who has the ambition of getting stronger and is never satisfied, so they train themselves harder (they are also materialistic bc ofc). I get greed and gluttony mixed up sometimes, but I see gluttony as more about self-indulgence and greed as more about ambition. That's at least my interpretation of the sin. It could mean obtaining the most of something, to own more whether out of pride or out of shamelessness. The ambition to obtain something that, at the grand scheme of things, lacks meaning and will not bring you the fulfillment you need

Okey for starters I do think these vertion of Mammon could still be considerd handsome since it gives me the bibes from Hefestous from the new Percy Jackson show, so keep that in mind folks. Second, maybe it would be more fun if some of his rings also had jewels incrusted on them, or maube that he had a necklace with dimonds (though that would be to much lineart) but perhaps you could say that he wears a chainmail made of gold or some stuff to actually feel the cold of these metals. And last, despite the idea of fizz being Mammon's right hand could be a fun exploration I have to wonder, if this vertion of the character is paranoide enough to think that the other sins will steal something from him, how would he react if he was in the situation of the show of Fizz leaving him to saty with Asmodeus? That is a reaction I would love to watch

I love this design so much and the new character concept! I don’t mind Mammon in the show but it makes more sense for him to be a dragon (with some raven and fox mixed in 😆) and him suffering from gold sickness is so clever! He shows the ugly/nasty side of greed. Instead of him having wings maybe just say the dragon part comes from him being part Drake dragon (dragons without wings) ? Also gems come from the deep in the ground so it doesn’t make sense for him to have wings since there’s nothing of value in the sky 🤷🏻 and dwarfs are known for living underground in mines so he has no need to fly if he prefers to be underground with his hoard. (But this is just my personal opinion) Can’t wait for Satan 🤩
Something I picked up on (and really hate) is the inconsistency when it comes to clothing rules. So a lot of the imps, hellhounds, lower ranked demons, and sinners all wear modern clothing or clothing from the period they died in (kinda, the period outfits are very inconsistent but the point stands) and this makes sense. Then we have the Goetias and they dress like true royalty (again kinda, I hate Stolas’ onsie-romper thing) but like fancy dresses, very regal outfits, etc. Which fair, they’re higher ranked it makes sense that they’re more dressed up. So then why are the sins and the royal family ALL in weird outfits or modern clothes. Like it’s such whiplash. We go from modern to incredibly regal to modern again and I don’t like it! Either dress the goetias down or dress the sins up a little. And I know the whole “oh they’re doing whatever they can to differentiate themselves from the poor” but I feel like that doesn’t work because it only makes them look like more of an oddball. Am I the only one who feels like this?

I actually made my Mammon design a greedy dragon who talks like one of those fast auctioneers, and is dressed like an old fashion Carnival Games staff member, because I swear when I got to the Fair, I get cat called by those guys to play their games, I know imma get scammed 😭
I saw that and I think it's due to wolves being close to gluttony and greed as alot of ppl have the sins go hand in hand with each other so they share alot of symbolism
I do enjoy a lot of the sins designs and your re-imagines for the sins, but I completely agree on the lack of any real creepiness from their demon forms! I love creepy stuff and was pretty disappointed with both the Helluva and Hazbin characters! Like, where is the creep factor? It feels like the Goetia were the only ones who got any form of creepy 'other forms' which is so weird!
1:08 I understand what you're saying. And I completely respect your opinion. But I'd just like to say that I think Mammon's design was partially inspired by Pennywise's design (clown/spider wise anyway), just to give him a demon like persona and how he's leaching off the celebrity talent his own performers (like FizzaRolli) has and to obviously exploit them into doing what he wants to mooch off of their profits they provide him.
Discount Choo Choo Charles XDDD The irony is that at least Charles HAS a more scary premise to him then Mammon and the other deadly sins- Their forms in both HB and HH are soooo....sad? They just feel half baked. Like, Viv HAS shown that she can make things scary with Stolas's form, She just doesn't do it with the people who are more important to the build of the show then this twink mess of a bird- So much more could of been done to make them stand out! Besides all of that- I absolutely love Mammon's reimagined look! It just feels so right to have him look and act the way that he does in this reimagined!
