I was on my 24 hours in the game my friends kept telling me to play bdo, so they boosted me to 61 in orcs and graduated. I had 150 fs and Tet blackstar used first hammer and send it to Pen. the chance was 3.42% if i recall correctly but it went. But after that been spending a fair amount and i cant even enhance a pri accessory. That tap took all the luck of my account. I even spent 9 attempts on getting a Pri Disto with 70%+ and it didnt gave it to me.
Yo that's wild grats on the pen. It feels like that at times. I blew up 21 pri loggias straight back to back on a 70% success chance. It's a meme sometimes
hope you still playing. The game itself is fun after all. You will get used to it we all been through that too and not feels great bnut i still enjoy playing BDO
If you cant stomach 9 fails of 70% click and understand math, then you should just buy whatever you want. Outside of that, with the way prices are, you should just buy. No reason to click yourself, and if you do, expect the worst and hope for the best.
I have 3 V Blackstars and at the end of the day it’s a pay 2 gamble vibe and the crons on console is still 870 per outfit which means it’s even more expensive .
I've never minded p2w in bdo much because of how expensive its always been, bdo is also one of the few games where grinding is "worth" your time, what i mean by that is you've always been able to grind for 15-30$+ an hour worth of silver where as a lot of other games that number is more like 1-2$ an hour, Guild wars 2 for example which granted isn't really p2w in the same sense but you're looking at like 20-40 gold per hour on repeatable grinds most leaning more towards 20, 2 dollars would get you 44 gold through gem conversion..
Let alone the patience and luck to actually get that higha stack. I did my pen blackstar from 200 stacks, and I only got it to 200 form a 150 advice of valks scroll and hunger origin. Buildign stacks is just painful why would you wanna torture yourself.
As someone who has failed 100 attempts on blackstars. 87 fails when i tried to go godr ayed. 34 failed layten pen attempts.( Take note! rng this bad is quite rare i think. im just one of the really unlucky individuals when it comes to enhancing. I feel bad for anyone who has had it worse. ) Learn from my mistakes and do not gamble like a mad man. For new players id recommend Just grind silver and buy your gear to get to 309-401 kutum and save all your crons and fail stacks for the deboreka grind. you will save so much time and money in the end because pearl abyss loves to give out crons during events like heidel and calpheon balls and anniversaries
Great advice. People think that they need to p2w to progress once they hit mid game but in reality you can make it to 700GS+ without even touching a cron stone!
should also add in the calculation of buying then selling costumes on mp to buy the items outright as this is another path that can be taken even if takes longer with the limits. Not sure if better or worse, just would be a nice additional info to add in future videos like this
The P2W in BDO is so fascinating because its not really worth it. Because if youre cutting out the grind... then you actually need learn some actual skill to be to be able to fight over grind spots that are 'now' worth your time lol Or just avoid snipers that know you're a P2W player. Oh yeah. Haven actively played since like Scholar release. Sitting on 15.1k cron stone from log ins and events. Emoting boxes. 53 Dark Hungers. And 3 240+ stacks. Just no motivation until a new 'MALE' class is released.
@@fecklessman No one can know unless you get stalked lol. I've been called a p2w loser, and I'm f2p outside getting a tent. And they didn't know I had a tent.
Also as a Side note- Making 1.5b/hr to my knowledge with no pen bs is pretty hard, especially if you don't have a pen BS's +9 ap and monster damage to help basically clear 3 whole brackets. I know a lot of people 290+ without a pen BS, but i would say likely people without pen BS are not 300+ ap, maximizing 1.5b/+hr at Dehkia spots, Ulukita spots, etc. If you don't have a pen blackstar, I would say chances are 1.3b/hr is probably a pretty good estimate. It all varies of course, some people do have 390/400+DP and can grind defensively the spots that make 1.5b/ hr. But the 290 spots-gyfins, etc. It's very hard if not impossible to consistently clear 1.5b/hr as a base average, even with L2 without agris/coin. Curious on your thoughts
Yeah for sure. I put that as the upper limit. Realistically though, if we calculate the actual time it would take then I'd have to consider passive incomes like login rewards, events, worker empire etc. It would get really tedious so just went with the simple approach.
got super rng carried and got 2 pen blackstars with the j’s hammers a while ago. trying to get the free tet bs to hit pen and its sitting at pri yet again, makes me really thankful for how carried i was.
I mean they sell many tet debos all you have to do is buy a tet debo and cron till it downgrades. Then sell the tri debo and repeat. The real P2W item is the shining alchemy stone that nobody has.
@@Esotericspirits lmao imagine buying costumes to do this. Imagine if you actually cared. Look at chads like biceptimus doing 1m trash at ash. The problem isn't p2w the problem is everyone's lazy whining noobs
My Pen black star took 13 attemps and only succeeded when i came back after 2 months of not playing. I came back during Calpheon ball for the J hammers and costumes. I hope BDO doesnt manipulate RNG like that
Grats on the PEN! Dude I heard Nexon manipulates rng exactly like that. They even tone down the rng if you play too much because they know you’ll keep playing and want to prolong your experience. I’ve heard too many cases of new and returning player rng to not believe in it 😂😅
Basically, assuming no-sale outfit price by grinding 1bil/hour you are "making" about 18$ (or 9$ at 50% sale). Now just choose whether you want to grind it in-game with that rate (and buy costumes at market), or at IRL work with your salary (and buy costumes with pearls). I think that's the most meaningful math you can make. If your salary is 18$/h you are basically as good grinding as taking extra hours at work (mental health aside).
For what it’s worth you can get to 700gs by buying gear before the super expensive items / without engaging in the enhancement system. However the game does move the goalpost every year and the upper group of players at the end game will increase their Gs 20-30 per yr.
Alot of the new areas require an insane amount of ap to do them or be effective in farming. Im a succ valk having to do 6-7 combo rotations to kill a pack if mobs in thornwood forest.
At the end of the day as long as you're happy and having fun that's all that really matters. Content in terms of grinding is pretty much the same thing just different monsters
I can't PvP on my character. I don't have the gear for it. I could easily drop $5000 on store stuff, sell on the market, and buy enough stuff to get me going in PvP. Yes this game is P2W. I just don't have an issue wity with it because I enjoy playing it.
Tbh, you can pvp without going through the cron grind, just got to pick your battles. Enjoy capped node wars, AoS. You can reach 700+GS without needing cron stones or super expensive items, as long as you're not facing someone 50GS higher, you can pull it back with skill.
the reason why BDO is not P2W for me when it comes to enhancing is exactly that: it's so expensive and it doesn't give you alot. I myself am probably viewed as a whale, i pay 100$ each month if i play a game like BDO. I invested my pearls into permanent upgrades though, e.g. i have alot of maxed out storage without CP(velia, heidel, glish, calpheon, altinova, valencia and probably some more) but for me those permanent buffs are more worth it, especially since i only buy pearls when i get a "double worth deal" like 8k A Points for 8k+8k pearls and then again i wait until things are on sale most of the time. i sank 1310$ since i started playing in mid 2021 with 90% of that being fromseptember 2021 to december 2022. It's alot of money, but I played and enjoyed this game every day, in the end you have to set yourself a maximum you want to pay monthly. But again, i feel like BDO does a great job to set the prices high and especially high for "pay to win" stuff like enhancing. Let's not talk about the 3 monthly buffs, those are garbo, i dislike them with a passion
People say it's not pay to win, you can grind and farm everything in game blah blah blah. BS, but will you grind? How much time will it take? P2W players will have end game gears while you busy trying to farm at Centaurs.
Yeah I was researching effective methods for games to execute p2w methods and the textbook example is to start a virtual arms race and have p2w mechanics. For this to work they have to balance it with grinding. I can tell that they know exactly how much time they want us to grind because they control the prices and we saw how they increased prices for certain items. They also have data on how much silver per hour players earn. They showed this to is when they increased vendor Cron prices
My Alt account got Pen BS main hand from 2 taps J hammer and also Pen BS Awakening from free corn stone event tap at 160 fail stack. This account has less than 1 year play time. Meanwhile, Main account with 5 years still working on PEN BS (tapped my pen raw).
For me p2w in this game is pay some1 to grind or life skills on my account like 24/7 so i can make sure that i have a lot of progression in a short period of time.
Well damn, I just realized how RNG carried I am watching this. I 1-tapped my first PEN BS (J-Hammer 225fs), and just yesterday I got my second PEN BS after only 6 tries (Crons 239 fs). Account is almost 1 year old and completely Free2Play.
you forgot to mention that bdo gives tons of free stuff i have so many free blessings of old moon free costumes free crons free dream horses like so many free stuff its crazy
Man it's not my job to market for them. 1 free tap here and there versus the 100+ for your full set of gear isn't enough to offset the system. We could let that make up for the material cost in addition to the crons though
thank you, now i can relize that i can left the game for one more time, every time i return i farm until i relize that the game is supossed to be farmed like a job to get to best gear. i can finally left this shit one more time.
Im one of those horror stories like your friends, on EU im 0/156 on PEN bs attempts using 250+ stack always, along with 0/78 on PEN acc attempts with 40 of them being distos all on 250+ stacks aswell, took me that long to deem my account as simply just cursed so ive now moved to NA in hopes my account does feel so broken there, time to rebuy all my maids etc i suppose 😅
@@imPansy haha appreciate it man, the games the game, I have incredible luck with tet accessories but I gotta have my name on the gear -.- hopefully my NA account will be kinder ^^
assuming an individual spends the maximum amount listed for pearls and costumes [which almost no one but the whaliest whales would ever do], works a job making the median salary in america [$45,760/year or ~$18.70/hour accounting for ~15% in federal taxes], and comparing those numbers to the most efficient grind results listed in this video [85 hours per piece, which is hilariously unreachable for someone that is not already geared], they would be paying a premium of $1,568.10 by buying costumes to get their three pen blackstars instead of grinding. assuming the same individual spends the minimum amount listed for pearls and costumes [1+1 pearl boxes + 50% costume discount], makes federal minimum wage in america [$7.25/hour], and comparing those numbers to the least efficient grind results listed in this video [120 hours per piece], they would be SAVING $1,022.10 total by buying costumes to get their three pen blackstars instead of grinding. the more likely scenario for someone looking to p2w is, probably, somewhere in the middle of these two. however, i've done the math for multiple situations and it kinda seems to me that when you plug in realistic numbers [i.e. a guy making minimum wage probably isn't whaling and the guy making the average salary is probably gonna hold out for pearl/costume sales], it is pretty much always both cheaper and more time-efficient to p2w than it is to play the game... not by a little, either. take that information and make any conclusion you wish. edit: i miswordeded some words.
Here I am guilty of spending a few dollars in the game and absolutely getting nothing. I'm so close to raw tapping again. Ugh! 😂 BDO is just a different genre of gambling. 😂
Why pay to gamble when you can actually p2w and sell the outfits for untaxed silver and buy all the PEN BS weapons at a guarantee? Tapping ONE pen at the average odds, ~19 attempts, will cost you $2117 when buying only 50% outfits. OR you could sell the costumes you buy at that 50% and outright buy all the PEN weapons for $3580?
It takes a long time to accumulate enough costumes on a 50% off discount. They limit them a lot. They generally dont let you just buy as many as you want. In a big event period I think the most I've seen is pack of 8 x 10. You'd be waiting probably almost a year to save up enough on a 50% discount.
I got omega uber disgustingly hateworthy Luck My first ever PEN Blackstar Awakening took 3 attempts 1 Month later my Mainweapon Blackstar took only 6 attempts
128b for Pen BS. You would need to sell 79 costumes. Would take a couple weeks of capsales. If no sales at all then $2,280 ish. I'll calculate this too for next vid good point!
I don't think you get taxed on costume if you buy it for pearls and sell. If you acquired the costume by other means like buying one and reselling it you would be taxed. If there's a blue T on the pearl item I believe it means it's tax exempt
I get one costume a week on EU if lucky, but I need to buy kama and book of moon too so just cant get any. You just cant buy crons through costumes. With the vendor prices beign 3mil, it costs way way more to enhance a pen BS than to just outright buy it. The economy is legit broken in the game when it comes to enhancing, its a scam. Those selling pen blackstars are scamming themselves if they are enhancing over buying by like 2x the price to outright buy it.
You just mentioned the gear enhancement. we have the weight limit and the premium tent and horses and almost forgot the storage and inventory. so yeah everything in BDO is pay to win BUT I LOVE MY DARK KNIGHT. WHAT SHOULD I DO. I NEED GOD😭😭😭 or more grind 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
lol I buy my value packs 6 months at a time twice a year, and my wife gets onto me every time. I can squeeze in a few extra pearls like $200 pearl box maybe twice a year and she will get onto but not stab/abandon me. But if I spent 3000 on a piece of armor all My bdo money would be converted to child support.
Even if there was someone crazy enough to spend 1m $ on this game to get to end game gear, he would lack skills and would be one shotted while dfs xD It's more of a pay for convenience ... VP, maids, pets etc.
I dont believe in P2W BDO. I mean relly what are you winning. Sure it makes the game easier for me but im not winning it. Its not like i paid the boss to take a dive in the 2nd round. I still have to go through the RNG of it all. If i want to spend 1000 dollars on the game im playing i dont think im paying to win. Im just paying to have fun.
There is nothing wrong with liking the game. I like it too, but why are you acting like there is no pay to win. If you put in enough cash, you can buy more PvP power via gear. It won't guarantee a win but it certainly increases your chances. Outside of PvP, you aren't winning anything, but compared to ESO or New World, opening your wallet benefits you much more in BDO. Lifeskilling without value pack and old moon is awful.
@thenightingale7405 though definition of p2w is an advantage over other players. There really is not enough of a gap between what you can do in game to win and what you could buy to win, for anyone to claim this game is p2w As far as your second point... to get the best gear by buying it, would cost you aprox 110k dollars. Thats not including accessories.
@@PatrickFrost-n3y agree, the point of the vifdeo is that is it really worth it to p2w enhancing? And look at the calculation it a lots of money and yeah it pay for more chance but is it worth it?
That's how they get you! Gotta reel them in and slowly hit em with the bad RNG. Did you know Nexon actually has a patent for dynamic rng where they could decrease rng for players the more active they were? Wouldn't be surprised if other games imployed something similar 🧐
I managed to go without irl money for a long time. I only bought the Tent and some costumes. I personally mostly get pearl items from the loyalty shop. At the end of the day, it's just a subscription model (Value Pack, Kama, BOOLM, ...). Just like every other MMO. It really depends on how serious you take the game.
Traumatized from what? Money I spent on the game is less than 5% of what I earned from it. Also, I make 1.5b/day through passive ingame mechanics. If anyone is playing lazy mode and coasting by it's me. Game is expensive af, nothing wrong in showing people the numbers. I swiped a few times knowing what to expect. However others aren't so fortunate, I still see posts on discord/forums of an unknowing dude waste $300, not getting what he wanted and quitting. Those are the people I want to help not make that mistake again
