Pricing out your materials based on the original price is actually a good thing. This means that you can afford to refill your yarn inventory even if it's full price at the time you need it.
@miss.a.crochet

That’s a good way of thinking about it!

Pricing is one of those hot button subjects. People have to do what works for them. I have found that similar items are being priced the same, no matter how the crocheter calculates it. As we all know there will be someone out there who will complain about the high cost as they walk around in their TOMS shoes, carrying their Coach purse, while drinking their Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino.

hahaha so trueee, luckily I haven’t met them yet, but I know it’s destined to happen 😅

Honestly this is the best video about pricing amigurumi! I struggle so much choosing prices that is sad, most of the time I'm scared that it won't sell if I put what I think it should be. Keep up the videos, I love them!

I took two ceramics classes in college. The first one was hand ceramics/ a non wheel ceramics class and I loveddddd it!!! The second class I took was a wheel ceramics class and the amount of out side class time that was “required” was insane. I live in New York and most people at my college did not live on campus so having to go to the studio during non class time was not something that fit my schedule.. not to mention that the studio had limited hours and I worked. Long story short I ended up dropping the class.
@miss.a.crochet
@miss.a.crochet Год назад
Yeah!! I commute 40-80 minutes to campus and back everyday and the 3 extra hours of studio time is killing me!

I make plushies as well although I needlefelt them instead! I agree pricing can be a tricky thing sometimes but it's whatever works for each person! ^^ Iv learned over time to slowly increase price based on any improvement I notice as well~

Something I want to put in here about hourly wage is I would make it plus $5 because you still have to calculate the time it takes to sell a product and the fees at a market and that type of thing there are a lot of expenses to make it to market and don't undersell yourself because time is money. Also always use the full price number when pricing yarn, yes you managed to save money for the company but that doesn't need to translate to your customers instead to you as it should the time it takes to find yarn on sale is true as well and for me I think $32 for the big ones and $18 for the small
@miss.a.crochet
@miss.a.crochet 10 месяцев назад
I never thought of that, I’ll take that into consideration! Yeah I don’t bother trying to remember which yarns I got on sale haha that’s too much work 😂
@WovenWilderness
@WovenWilderness 10 месяцев назад
@@miss.a.crochet Yea another thing is that you are taking into account your time and expenses that it takes to make the product but there is overhead like in your last video you bought a table or maybe buy display items. In business it is good to do the 1/3rd rule where 1/3 is expenses like you have been thinking about 1/3 is labor and 1/3 is for overhead for things like: rent, display, tents, printers if you want to ship or expand that way, for insurance, sales tax, random costs that come up, you can use money from your business to pay for housing or write it off depending on your state I am only familiar with michigan small business accounting but just some thoughts for you as well
@miss.a.crochet
@miss.a.crochet 10 месяцев назад
So how much would you add on to each item in order to get that extra 1/3 or how would you ensure those expenses are covered?
@WovenWilderness
@WovenWilderness 10 месяцев назад
@@miss.a.crochet I would add a line at the end of your spreadsheet to increase the end number by 30% so something like $10 * 1.3= $13 sale price Another example for the axolotl let's go with the $15 * 1.3 = 19.50 round to $20 hoped that helped the * is a times that is what I learned in school sorry if it was confusing I know you were charging $24 for the large ones those should probably be $30 and I really don't think that is too high when you compare to just in store bought not homemade plushies many of them around the same price point are actually smaller yes they have hair but they are made in factory not handmade amazing items

What is a good way to weigh my yarn without buying one (I have the one for humans could I use that? )
@miss.a.crochet

hmmm you could definitely try that, I’m not sure how precise you could get but I’m sure it’s better than nothing!
@genob44
@genob44 Год назад
How do you weigh the yarn used if you crochet half of something then stuff it then crochet more?
@miss.a.crochet
@miss.a.crochet Год назад
I would weigh the yarn before I crocheted and then after I crocheted and then just subtract so I’m not actually weighing the plushie itself!

What if you spend about 8 hours on each project because it takes a week to make one item? I just spend about an hour a day. How do you calculate hours or just guess at that point?
@miss.a.crochet
@miss.a.crochet 10 месяцев назад
If i know it’s a big project like a commission or something I use a stopwatch app (crochet.land for apple users) and I charge hourly since it obviously took a lot of time to make!

My college art class was like your ceramics class. She didn't teach us. She gave us the type of pieces we were expected to do the semester and when they were due and that was it. We showed up and worked on them then turned them in when done.

Hi! Does someone know which formulas were used in this spreadsheet?
@miss.a.crochet

I used pretty basic formulas like =((B4/C4)*(D4-E4)) obviously it depends on how your sheet is laid out but they’re all pretty easy to make!

This is the gal with the answers...I'm still learning! (From her) THE CROCHETPRENEUR. Her video from 2 or so days ago touches on it. I think it's a small percentage, plus you have to include taxes in your price because you're going to owe them at tax time. Why not collect them now and set them aside? This youtuber is an excellent resource! An excellent business woman and just a wealth of information! (All for free!) No, I don't work for her. Don't even know her. Just glad she showed up in my feed one day! Hugs!
