I'll repeat it here, thx for all your efforts with this vid retrocombs. It was a fast rapid-fire, but I know there was a tonne of effort involved to squeeze so much into a short space of time. And also thank you for polishing up those slides too, and a reminder for folks out there that they can reference the slides from the link in your description if they want to work through them at a slower pace :-)
I loved the way we used the slides to collaborate with each other halfway around the world from each other. The slides, along with the video and video controls, make for a powerful MEGA65 primer. It was a great idea and let's hope it helps people get started. I love the fact that we code the beginnings of a game. It makes game programming approachable and achievable. I even want to dig into the code and see what I can add!
awesome video. i just went over the vic-20 user manual with vice a little while ago and your vid has the same kind of fun, accessible energy that that book had and really gets us a long way in a very short amount of time. thank you much.
Thanks so much. Appreciate the feedback. If you want to take a deep dive I to the Commodore Plus/4 or C16 series, check out my Plus/4 User's Guide series. I cover each chapter using both video and blog! www.retrocombs.com/plus4
Good video, thanks. You know what would be nice, if they would make the Mega65 ROM available for purchase. Hard to run the emulator without it and hard to get it if the price of entry is pre-order the machine for a truckload of money and wait a year to for it to be shipped. Just sayin', a way to legally buy and use the ROM would be nice.
You can do this. If you purchase the C64 ROM, as part of C64Forever package, the MEGA65 team provides a patch to upgrade it. This was done for the use case you need. I share that process in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-volGqBd143k.html I haven't tested this in awhile but it should get you going.
@@retroCombs thx, I tried running though this once but found the results lacking (almost 100% my fault), but I'll try it again. Having said that, I'm more thinking an official "click here to buy the official closed ROM" type thing. I'd absolutely pay for that and would be great to tinker with before laying out the money for real hardware. Anyway, just me thinking out loud.
@hauger27 I've recommended the same to the developers and my understanding was they couldn't get the rights for a ROM sale from C64Forever folks. Let me know if you keep having problems with the Patch. If I have some time, I'll look into it for you.
Is there any reason why do you punch the keys like that, full power down 🤔 Are keys maybe pressure sensitive? Or is this just your personal preset? Guess keys are then indestructible...
The MEGA≡65 keys are Cherry MX keys and fabulous. Many of my key presses were for dramatic effect for the video. 😄 A simple press will suffice. The keys are REALLY good.
