Helpful. IDK if it's the productivity bridge I need or whether I need to stick with Chrome OS, but either path keeps me far away from platforms that I know that I'll just turn into gaming PCs.
I’m binging these videos while dealing with a bit of a feaver, hearing “To press F2 press shift and F1” confused me for far, far longer than it should have
I believe so but you might post in the Discord just to make sure. I seem to remember them stating that they wanted everyone in this batch to have access to the original manual.
@@retroCombs Thanks, I checked and they're actually just getting rid of the old manuals while they still have them. A bit disappointing really. I've ordered a new one from Lulu.
The display window functionality was already there on the PET in Basic 4.0. Just with some control codes (there were no escape codes yet back then): chr$(15) and chr$(143)
Sorry to read that. I still can't believe I gave mine away those many years ago. Are you planning to get another? You might check Bonus Life Computers.
18650's are a generic battery theyre sold everywhere... maybe not grocery stores or best buy but many brick and morter stores carry them... plus theyre MUCH BETTER then any A style battery good sir and user changeable... such a pro but you make it such a con, but i get it
Hey, Neighbor! Very cool to know there's someone a couple of counties over into the same hobby. I found the neo light over at www.retroledsigns.com/Commodore-logo-LED-sign-Bright-multicolor-nearly-10-wide-662-LEDs-p483562276 Great to hear from you!
Great video, great presentation and very informative I just have a question for yourself or anyone else that has the tablet. I’m travelling on 14 hour international flights regularly. Would a USB stick plugged in with movies on it? Be able to be read by the tablet. ? Thinking I can load up 128 gig to watch on the plane if it works.
I have used a USB-C on my Pixel phone, but have not tried on the Pixel Tablet. I have to assume it will. I'd give it a shot, but my USB-C drive is at the "paying gig's" office.
Absolutely! Ya love'em and hate'em at the same time on some days. 😂 I will say, I use this tablet every day. I never said that about my iPad because it often has a dead batter.
@@retroCombs here is Australia the Google Tablet is $599 (roughly $380USD) and the Samsung Tablet is also on sale for $778 (roughly $500 USD) so I’m trying to decide between the two
@bencostello2993 I've not used the Samsung but I'm not a fan of the software they put on their phones. Get the Pixel Tablet with the base. That's what gives you the best value because you get an audio hub with the deal. My two cents. I'm replying on the Pixel Tablet!
@@thanatosor This is the most extensive video I have on this board. It's a bit dated and one of my older videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gfsNLwCtIjo.html
@@retroCombs I like your channel! I also do some retro computing, in my channel but it’s generally an engineering infotainment channel. But you are true hardcore retro, so a well deserved sub, are you familiar with Retro is the new Black? Wolfgang is also a great retro-tuber and a great individual as well. It’s cool that retro is in again.
@@retroCombs It was awesome, as it was last year. Got to talk to Adrian Black and June about AS/400's and all kinds of other fun stuff from my past. Great time all around.
@@retroCombs Got my own C64 8bitdo keyboard earlier in the week - the keyboard itself is excellent, but the joystick and big buttons? Yuck... squidgy novelty garbage. The keyboard jack plug hookups look interesting though - it would not be difficult at all to wire up some proper arcade controls that hook into that keyboard (as all its doing is emulating the inputs as key presses anyway), which may have some value.
What also puzzles me: no connector for a TV? Why is there no 15 KHz RGB out on this thing? If I want 8-bit like games over HDMI, I'll just boot Pico-8 on a modern OS.
This would still be possible with a breakout board on the FPGA. Just needs to be enough demand and someone to champion the design. Thanks for suggesting!
Not a surprise. LEGO has shied away from military models but embraces Star Wars; which includes military weapons. It's an interesting balance for sure.
A600 is a nicer specced A500, the IDE and PCMCIA ports are really nice to have, never had an A600 until the Vampire 2 accelerator card came out. Currently my A1200 with PiStorm32+CM4 expansion is my main Amiga, accelerates the Amiga to insane speeds!
I really need to grab the PiStorm32 and using it with the +CM4 sounds perfect. I can only imagine what the speed increase will be when the CM5 is released.
@@retroCombs Seems the CM5 will use same PCI-e southbridge as the current Pi5, unfortunately this makes it not usable for PiStorm (too much latency), Michal talked about that on Amiga38, if it was usable the speed increase would be about 2,5 times faster than cm4/pi4, what a bummer! But cm4 @2.2Ghz is already VERY fast and will not disappoint you compared to pi3.
I have to admit, it has been years since I've check on this device so not sure I can offer any assistance, but my guess is the D-Pads need to be set back up in the Retro Arch. You might be able to get it all working if you plug in a keyboard.
just so everyone knows, I ordered one and they said allow 90 days for shipping... 5 months later I'm canceling my order because they said it would be another 5 months. Shipping is almost a year out on these, but they don't say anything to the customer. You just wait and wait and nothing ever happens.
