In this video, we'll go over what exactly FMETF is, some reasons why you should consider investing in FMETF, and the most important step, how to actually invest in the FMETF if ever you decide it's something you want to invest in.
The FMETF stands for the First Metro Sec Exchange Traded fund. From the name itself, the FMETF is a fund that's traded on the stock exchange, meaning you can buy and sell shares of it like how you would with any other stocks. While there are several ETFs around the world, the FMETF is the only ETF available here in the Philippines. It's an index fund, which means that it tracks the performance of our one and only Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi). The PSEi is composed of the top 30 companies in the Philippines, which includes Jollibee, BDO, SM, San Miguel, Meralco, Globe, Ayala Land, and more.
Because I invest for the long-term, I mostly focus on being consistent with my investments. I peso cost average FMETF through COL Financial's Easy-Investment-Program.

📌 Thoughts on FMETF Liquidity
The Philippine stock market is relatively small and not a lot of people are aware about FMETF. Something that I wasn't able to include in the video were the potential liquidity issues with FMETF when transacting REALLY BIG amounts (like in the millions hehe). Some ways to get around this is to divide your shares in tranches and sell them at different price points. If you watched my "What I invest in Video," you'll remember that I also invest in the Philequity Index Fund (1% management Fee) in order to "bypass" potential liquidity issues in the long run. This isn't that big of a concern, but I wanted to share my thoughts on it in case someone brings it up 😁
