Ive had my Bronco Black Diamond with throwback steelies for 2 years also. Never had a problem. I have a file of recall notices for minor things which I've never addressed. Great video.
Love those steel wheels. No regrets making the swap. I have a list of recalls as well. But, non of them are worth the dealership and my time to fix. Pretty trivial stuff. The Black Diamond is the best looking Bronco in my opinion. I even switched to the BD grille. Maybe I should call my Bronco the BadDiamond.
Just bought a 2023 black diamond here in 2024 would like to hear a few did any modifications and change anything out with the stereo and what kind of lighting you added to your vehicle
Congrats on your wonderful new Bronco! I have the Lux package with the B&O sound system so I've left the stereo alone. In regards to lighting, the interior is stock. I did add a LED strip on the inside of the back window for cooking. It just connects to a battery pack. The roof lights are from ZROADZ and the front ambers are for fog ect. They are Hella lights, but will be replaced shortly with Deltas. Hope this helps! @@davidvolland7250
I own 4 Fords. A 2017 F250 Super Duty King Ranch, a 2018 Mustang GT Premium, a 2018 Shelby Mustang GT350, and a 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. I bought all of them new and I have problems with all of them that started within weeks of driving them off the lot. Ford has fixed some of the problems, but most of them still exist even after Ford tried to fix them. I love the looks of the new Bronco, but I refuse to buy another Ford.
@@poppyneese1811 Lol only 94k miles, those ecoboost are know for not being reliable, smaller turbo charged engine will not last. Too much wear and tear and pressure on the engine.
I’m a little frustrated with the brakes on my ‘23 Ranger XL. They’ve been soft & have faded randomly since I got it. Ford replaced the booster at about 7k miles & it still does it.
Brian, I have 8K miles on my 2023 badlands Sasquatch and have enjoyed every mile in it. Enjoyed you sharing your thoughts of your bronco. My only problem is I don't get to drive it enough, now that my wife wants to drive it instead of her driving our other vehicle.
Two things that might cause the whistling noise when it is cold. 1. The window might not be closing completely. Such as it stops going up too early. Might be something stuck in the window weather stripping groove or it could be just too much friction of the glass sliding in the rubber and the load sensor in the window motor senses that and thinks the window is closed. You can apply some silicone spray to a twisted piece of paper towel and run that all around the window weather stripping groove to lube it. Silicone preserves and lubricates rubber. Maybe the window would close up all the way then. 2. Since the problem happens in the cold it could be a crease or twist in the door weather stripping. Or it could be a gap in joints of the door weather stripping. Again, silicone spray rubbed all around the door seal might help. Good luck!
I'm over 28,000 in 14 1/2 months. I've had ZERO problems with my base Sas 2.7. It's been everywhere and never been stuck. I agree with you on just about everything(turn signal, LOL( I hope I don't start noticing that MORE now!)
The horn honking thing can be turned off with the key fob. If I remember correctly, you hold down the lock and unlock buttons for 3 seconds and then lock it at the end. That might not be exactly it, but there are multiple posts on the bronco forums about it.
Had 2 Jeeps. Latest is an 08 4dr JK….. 292,000 miles-great vehicle. But worn out… thoroughly. But tried to buy a new Jeep…. And could not order one, and won’t consider that 4xe crap hybrid. Ordered a 24 Black Diamond Bronco….. 7 weeks to build, plus 2 weeks deliver. Plus $2k below MSRP….. after test driving…. Bronco is slightly better on road, and should be as good off road as my Jeep…. Which is a mid-level Sport. Thanks for the video….
@ryanm4013 you sound like a guy who says that about throwing his kids a birthday party, too. Have fun and repair as needed, so long as you have your health, the rest you can fix.
I respect you not wanting to try de-programming the honks and chimes, but to me, the ability to easily do so without paying hundreds of dollars for dealer software or aftermarket tuning devices makes Bronco all the more endearing to me. Completely agree re: the volume pop-up; it's even more infuriating when I'm using phone projection and Sync has to layer over AA/ CP.
A lot of the cons are just personal preference. Most of those are common on every vehicle so not cons for me other than the tires grabbing rocks. Great review though, really enjoyed it!!!
So for the window whistle... it's the door seals... so if you take it all off, you'd see some clips or something in the pinch welds... add something to make it take shape.
Thanks for the update. I had a 2022 Black Diamond with 2.3 engine and put 8000 miles on it, including a trip to Colorado Springs and Moab with no issues. I traded it for a 2023 Badlands with 2.7 engine, non sas and now have 4000 miles on it with no issues. I am even getting a little better gas mileage than with the 2.3 engine. I like the standard 33 in BF Goodrich K 02 tires on the Badlands because they are all terrain and not the mud terrain tires on the sas pkg.
I agree with the window whistling and the rock chucking Territory tires 100%. I also hate when the volume comes up on the screen. But I really don’t think it’s too hard to hit the ok button to return to GOAT mode. I have actually found it useful when I’ve left on a mode and returned to pavement and forgot to take it out. I put the steering bushing from Broncobuster on my Wildtrak and added the tie rod sleeves from Rough Country. I also added the Zone offroad perch collar lift but I find it has too much body roll. I’m going to remove them and try the Eibach 2.0 shocks which I just watched a video that said they may the rear of the vehicle feel wiggly but I already ordered them so I will test them out myself, since I am running stock size tires. The other issue I have is the lack of storage. I wouldn’t mind a wider Bronco with a large center console. I have 106,000 km on my Bronco. I do like it, but the whistling window drives me wild. Way too much road noise. For that reason I think I will buy a pickup after this one is miled out. The biggest surprise was how capable it is out the box. I had 2019 Chevy High country before this and the turbo six is a very comparable. I thought I would notice huge power losses but that’s not the case. I would not buy one with a removable roof if I had the choice. I enjoy the ac and keeping clean and I have had roof leaks in the carwash. The seats are fairly comfortable. I have gone on several trips over 1000km and I was comfy the whole way.
Great comment there. Please let us know about the Eibach 2.0 shocks. I've been eyeing those for over a year and would love to hear what you have to say. They are adjustable correct?
I just found your channel and subscribed not because of this review but because of your overlanding. I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport EcoDiesel but I like to know what problems and upgrades others are having with their Broncos or 4Runners. My Wrangler does not have lockers but I can probably go anywhere you go on an overlanding trip unless you are doing hard core rock crawling. So, it works for me. It seems a lot of people buy a Jeep or Bronco that is way more capable than they will ever use. So, whether it is a Bronco or a Jeep just go off road and have fun. But I will not "Jeep Wave" a Bronco in fact I don't Jeep Wave a Grand Cherokee or Liberty either.
As I've stated in my videos, you don't need a Badlands or Rubicon to do the type of exploring in my videos. BUT I wanted a capable vehicle since indeed I'm solo on my trips and 20+ miles away from pavement. Any basic 4 wheel drive with GOOD tires and a bit of extra fuel is the most important thing. Thank you for the comment and I hope you enjoy watching my adventures!
You forgot to mention the no rear AC vents for your passengers. Huge miss for ford considering all their competitors have them. Not fun for desert wheeling.
I have never ever had any luck with Fords. I owned and OG Bronco before it got sold while I was in the Army…thanks Mom! Bought a Bronco II what an absolute piece of crap and then a Ford Taurus which always had something break or wear out. Conversely, I owned a Chevy Blazer, that thing was bullet proof and never failed me and that goes the same for our VW Bus (which we still have).
It certainly is not a perfect vehicle. But I appreciate the effort Ford put into it. They really tried to give us something different that we can have some fun with. I think Wagoneer blew it big time with the new design.
I finally found a solution to the whistling coming from the passenger window. I tried everything and it drove me nuts. The sound is coming from the top front corner of passenger window. It sounded like it was center to back of top of window. I cut a piece of hard foam into about a 2 inch long piece in a pencil like shape. Stuff it up in between the rubber seal and roof lip to make the front top corner fit tight. After months of adjusting front and back windows, applying lube to rubber seal, etc. This fixed it. Let me know if you have any questions.
We have 2 Wildtraks. A 2 door and a 4 door. We love them. I have had Rubicons in the past and prefer the Bronco. As far as the tie rods. I think Ford is hoping warranties expire and they don't have to replace the HOSS 2 set ups that never should have been on the Bronco. The new ones come with HOSS 3 and it is supposed to be better. I am going to upgrade both to either the HOSS 3, 74 Weld or Bronco Buster steering rack and tie rods eventually. They are pricey though. How do you like the frameless windows? I would prefer framed windows. That would solve most of the problems we have with them presently. Overall, it is a great competitor to Jeep and can go anywhere I have been in a Rubicon.
I'm a Jeep guy, that drives an '88 XJ, but I will admit the Broncos are cool ... Won't get one, but I like to see what everyone drives. So with your comment, "alot of comments on forums about things malfunctioning and breaking" ... Well those actually make me wonder, "how are they using them?" Are they getting abused, is said Bronco doing a lot of crawling and going over crazy stuff. That is what I always wonder. Ya! stuff is going to break when you shit kick it. So this is good to hear. Some folks (newbies) think they are going to break axles and drive shafts doing... Exploring. Not everyone is a rock crawler
Great comments there. I believe a lot has to do with improperly taking the Bronco out of factory specs. Adding 37" tires for example without changing out many of the components. Hmmmm. Thank you for the comment!
@@NorthwestBronco your welcome. It's just that people always blame the vehicle never themselves. "Oh! Neglected to point out, I just jumped that berm... Or went through that Rock garden." Hee hee
I agree also! I mean, I could say lots of positive things about my vehicle as well...except it's a 2021 Jeep Gladiator (Rubicon) -- Broncos weren't even out yet back then, they were just vaporware/advertising hype for 2 years). ;-) "Jeep Wave" ...yes, I "Jeep Wave" at Broncos also -- when I see them, that is -- but hardly see any around here. And of course, their drivers don't savvy (!) the wave. IMO, there should be a "Bronco Wave" (to other Bronco drivers) also, but I guess as the saying goes, "It's a Jeep thing." -- BR
I drove a Wrangler with aftermarket 35s down to Southern Illinois and I hated the way it drives on the road. Off-road was fine. Then I just drove a SAS Bronco all over Honolulu and it was perfectly fine on the road and great off-road. The Wrangler is a one trick pony. That front axle ruins it.
A good, fair and accurate review based on my 32k miles in my Badlands SAS, Lux. I too have the same passenger whistle problem in the cold that drives me crazy. I “fixed” the double honk and other issues with Forescan and everything is fine. I’m enjoying my Bronco a lot more than the Rubicon I had before it.
Only complaint with my Bronco is the infotainment system. It randomly drops Apple CarPlay and won’t reconnect until the vehicle is turned off and restarted.
I went from a Tesla to a 24 Bronco, so far just noticed the USB-C port up front doesn’t work. Otherwise I love the way it drives, I honestly hated my Model Y could not get rid of it soon enough.
@@NorthwestBronco the build quality wasn’t what I expected from a $50k vehicle, value tanked, parts are very expensive and for example tires wear out quick. Lastly the battery range wasn’t what they advertise, out of 200 miles I’d get a solid 90-100 before having to stop for 30 mins and charge
You put the rims from a black Diamond on your badlands? So does that mean I can also put 35’s on my stock black Diamond rims? No rub issues? Of course I think yours is lifted though.
I don’t have a lift. The suspension is completely factory SAS. I’d assume if you have a black diamond with a Sasquatch package you will be fine. If you don’t have a sas package, you would need a 2” lift. Hope this helps!
The cons seemed more like not that big of deal tho i will say as someone that on Bronco #2 the windows issue should be a recall. My first Bronco was a 2023 Outer Banks softtop with the 2.7 and the noise ans rattling made me literally hate the vehicle. 6 months later i have a loaded i mean loaded 2024 Wildtrack hardtop and all the issues i hard with the 2023 where gone. Idk if the change something but the windows work great zero noise. I did notice a ton of window gaskte flaws on the 2023 as well. If you cant get ford to fix the whistling id put a peice of weather sriping in you window seal.
I've heard the newer Broncos have several improvements. Those little things that were issues on the earlier models. Mine in indeed a 2021. Good to heard they may be working on some improvements. How were the doors? I've heard they feel and sound more sturdy on the newer models.
@NorthwestBronco the doors seem to close with more weight and you have to put a lil more force in closing them but thats not a vad thing. IMO the build quality is way better than the 2023, not sure when my 23 was built which i feel like was right before the strike but the issue i had with trim gaps and other a few other things are gone.
@NorthwestBronco on my 23 the passenger side canopy trim you could stick you hand in and grab the air bag. My windos constantly forgot position. Windows rattled. Noticed two days before trade in the rear driver side door had a painted over rushole or shit weld. Dealer took care of the trim kinda but the rattles they said are the cost of owning a a off road vehicle 😆. I went thru my 24 with a fine tooth comb and found no issue, yet 😅. Nice they update things but if you own a earlier model year you get fucked. Buyers shouldn't be R and D. Ill be keeping this Wildtrack for ever tho
It appears that sensitive people shouldn't get a Bronco. If you are a sensitive person, get a Toyota. I drive a 2013 FJ and I live with the FJ quirks and feel thankful to have a very capable off road vehicle even if it's not perfect. 😊
The good news is, I had to dig deep to find things I didn't like. It's has issues for sure, but I still love it. The Bronco replaced a 2016 Toyota Sequoia which I enjoyed very much.
I hate it when Americans complain about little stuff in American cars, I'm from the middle east, where most of these countries have nothing but cheap Chinese cars where basically at 70,000 miles you need a new engine, or Really expensive German cars that are not reliable at all. But no American Japanese cars due to sanctions....for political reasons
That's interesting. I would have thought the middle east have more high end cars. I had no idea that's how it is there. Thank you for the interesting comment! 👍
I have most of the same complaints for my 23 Badlands SAS. Another annoying thing is when the wireless Android auto disconnects, which is all the time You cannot reconnect unless you're at a complete stop. This is for safety reasons which is a bunch of BS! So you're on the highway doing 80 your Android auto and maps disconnect, pullover come to a complete stop to reconnect your Android auto. What a POS
100% agree. Funny thing is that was one of the Cons, but I screwed up the editing and left it out by accident. Thank you for posting that information here.
You can reset the infotainment system by holding the power button (in the volume knob) and the seek forward button for 5 seconds. It should reconnect after it turns back on so you don't have to pull over.
