Today, we read the parable of the workers in the vineyard, who all got paid the same wages no matter what time they had started working throughout the day. Jesus makes the point that "the last will be first and the first will be last."
And when James and John's mother requests that they receive special treatment, Jesus again reminds them "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve."
Then, to prove this point, he gives two blind men their sight. This is why I read these stories. To "give people their sight." I pray that you see what Jesus stood for and feel his compassion for you, coming to the realization that if we truly follow him, we will take on a servant's heart. ❤️
