Back to school for what feels like the 85th time. Honestly I'm so sick of school but I was also sick of living in the US so I decided do grad school in France as a way to move and settle here.
While there are tons of international students in Toulouse, I've met 0 americans here, everyone is here on erasmus or some kind of exchange/study abroad program. Toulouse already doesn't have a lot of american tourists/immigrants compared to other cities in France and then on top of that, it's 2020 so there's a thing called covid. I just did the research and preparation myself and applied to the masters program directly as an independent student (via Campus France), without any association with my american university.

Do you have any specific questions about the uni life here or the application process (Campus France, Visas etc) that you'd like me to discuss in the next few videos? :)

I can't speak for all graduate programs in the USA but in my program there where only four of us and we BONDED strongly. We went to class together, to the library together, to lunch together. The professors called us "the gang of four" because we were always together. The joke about grad school is that the first year they scare you to death and the second year they bore you to death. But we enjoyed all of it.

I graduated computer science five years ago in french (I'm french) and I think computer science is maybe the easiest program to follow in another language as the computer language does not change. But anyways i think you did the right choice IF you plan to not work in France, because we translate or not translate (and say it the french way) things randomly in computer science. I had to re-learn how to say everything when I moved 😭

Where did u study CS in France? Im interested in go and study CS there. How is the employement situation? After graduation, I would love to stay there after studies and apply for a Work Visa. And, CS is not a Engineer career right? Because people told me that is difficult to get on Engineer Ecoles. Thank you!

That's incredible, this is clearly my university, or well... I am in prépa in Lycée Bellevue right in front of the university, so I am officially registered as a student of the university but not having class there. Quelle coïncidence !!

Awesome video! I'm also hoping to do grad school in France next year! Mostly to get out of the U.S. lol but also to (hopefully) get a better job. Still looking into schools tho, how did you decide which one you wanted to attend?

when I had narrowed down my options to 3-4, I just chose the city that I got the best vibe from, and also because I got a tuition waiver for this one. Wanted to just pay as little as possible after spending so much on US tuition 😅

@Leo El 243/year master, same as french. International students started paying much more since 2019 but the uni gave me an exemption

As someone who’s interested in studying in France, do you also pay for textbooks like we do in the US? And if so, are they costly?
@IdentitySelection
@IdentitySelection 3 года назад
I haven’t needed a single textbook but that might just be the nature of my major. But if ever one had to buy them, I’m sure that they’re not nearly as expensive as they are in the US ! The textbooks being THAT expensive is a very american thing and like a known joke 😬
