I just have some questions how you avoid to resize the map view / music player split screen everytime you enter the car? I tried today with my 2022 Ipad Pro M2 cellular. Could not get the hang of how to add clean looks with split windows / app window sizes....I also downloaded the shortcuts, got a few error msg's about black/dark wallpaper. But my main thing is, I want it to be easy. Not spend 5 minutes everytime I'm gonna play Bluetooth content while having the map navigation running on the same split screen :)
@@Smuthole Try to update those wallpappers in the shortucs, its because of the iPadOS 17. If you dont like to resize, you can turn off the text size settings change which is in the shortcuts.
@@gutsglory3625 I have an electric car, so it doesn’t have an alternator, but it is able to charge the device, but mostly I don’t need it since iPad has 10 hour battery life.🙌🏻
@@TrillMurrayI’m sure you can but I’m guessing with iPad or iPhone ( very easy) you want Spotify and RU-vid etc I have iPhone functionality on car etc but can’t afford IPad 5g ( too expensive ) wonder could you tether the iPad to your phone 5g ?
It's good, but I still think the Chinese CarPlays are more simple to setup and use. The best advantage of iPad is the bigger screen and better resolution and type of screen.
Good point, I understand why, but still I think iPad will give you more options. Actually infinity options, and that is without stage manager, game streaming (when charging car) and more. 🙌
Iam taking iPad with me every time or hide it somwhere, never keeping it at the dashboard. That is why I need a Magnet case to simply just take it anytime.
I was looking for some quality stereo for my W140, with CarPlay. Decent ones like Pioneer cost around 1000+ eur. I have pretty good Kenwood already installed, that has USB outlet and iPod mode. So i went up picking 6th gen ipad for 150 euros, and window mount. And i can take it off at any time, so it won't ruin my 90s vibe when im just cruising around.
Hello there, as you can see in the video, i am using iPad magnetic case from Aliexpress, or you can use old iPad case, without cover (I cut it off).I glue it to the holder from 3D print, you can download it at snayps.com. The other part connected to it is phone dashboard mount from Skoda Car. It was in car when i got it. Thats it. 🤓
Greeting. After watching the short, I went and bought a iPad 6 because thats the only thing I can use for my dash console. So I got a custom dash piece for iPad mini but I don't kno how to set up these shortcuts since I've always been a Samsung user. When I had my galaxy tab, I can set commands like, when receiving charge>play RU-vid music with Google maps> keep screen on and make icons larger. When device stops charging>put in sleep mode>lock screen. Can you please make a tutorial videos for us non apple users please?
@Snayps I did download your shortcuts. Is there a way I can have the iPad turn on with the accessory power I have setup when u move the key forward and go to sleep when charge gets cut off?
What Shortcut u are using n running? N can u use the steering wheel control bottoms. I use my M1 iPad Pro 12” on a N52 magnetic mount n connect to the car USB-C AUX input. I get power to keep the iPad charged n perfect sound no delay in video n can use the steering wheel bottoms skip, volume, n so on. Yes IPad can’t sink with Carply so u cannot use the care display but since we already using the iPad as one not need. The only thing that was missing was camera view so I upgraded my car’s camera to wireless that project to the review mirror n now I can see them on the iPad as well.
@@carlosmerlos1317 there are 2 way to do it, I have now 11 camaras on my care to my IPad, I made POE cameras power over internet for 0 lag not that I need it it but just to be safe (left, right sides like my side mirror for changing lane n other 2 facing forward to the front tires to have 360 views angle n see side walk for perfect parking). The rest are wireless that work fine n I have no lag, I use Apple Himekit cameras connected over the internet like securely camaras a home. My care didn’t have WiFi so I use a WiFi 6 router so the video is fast n with out delay u don’t want to use it to change lanes n have lag n crash so for my sake I started using POE cameras that connect straight to the router for reliable viewing (some cards do but I recommend u use router for better performance). I set my car as a extra Home connected to the car WiFi n now I bee adding smart home devices at my car light, sensors, air purifiers n I also connected my IPad to a OBD2 to my car n now I have access to all my car computer n sensors. Now u can set automations n control the car over the internet.
But does the iPad OVERHEAT if you’re driving and it’s in direct heat from the sunlight? If it does kind of pointless if you’re relying on it for navigation
The only unsightly thing is when it comes to having to charge the iPad, I wish there was a way to implement the Smart Connector pins on iPad Pro to trickle charge it.
This may seem like a good idea but I’d imagine in reality that the iPad ends up destroyed by the heat and sun in the car. It’s hotter than you think in the cabin.
There is direct AC blowing to the iPad back, and i am taking it with me everytime i am leaving the car, and i am using this solution for more than 3 years. ✌🏼✨ You will never know, if you never try.
@@Snayps for sure. I added a $259 atoto unit instead of replacing the stereo. It runs Linux and CarPlay works wirelessly. Good hustle to get this working
I never understand why Google and Apple can’t just give a mini version of carplay and android auto! Like 6.1 inches is more than enough for carplay and android auto! If not on phones, then atleast give us on the tablets & ipads!
I've tried this before with both an iPad pro and a galaxy tab s9 both constantly and severely overheated unless directly over the vents with the AC on this is horrible for your device!!!!
for some reason maps for me it’s not as responsive, meaning it thinks I’m looking to a different way than forward and it updates really slow my position.
Sir I'm not your level buddy but, i would like to tell you. Better you install one new system in car, that is more cheap and informative. In that You will get sensors, camera, GPS, etc. Safe for the car and Car look also get change.
Please post a tutorial and also you don’t need a cellular ipad as long as you have your iPhone with Bluetooth and hotspot on right? Cause If the cellular makes the maps work better I’ll go for an older cellular model !
I will think about that! Yes I tested iPad without Cellular and even with hotspot, its so poor experience to use any maps or navigation. So Cellular only, because you has a GPS module. ✨✌🏼
keeps saying An error occurred while running Carplay ON The action could not run because a Focus named "Carplay" does not exist on this device. You can create a new Focus in Settings.
Not a problem in my car, AC vent is right by it. Two actually. So I just pointed one at me and one at the back of my phone/iPad depending on whichever I have with me
Did this for a little bit. Problem is when you leave the iPad in the car and it gets really hot in the car during summer and gets locked, literally… ipad will say to cool it down before using… so yu have to always take in and out. Not convenient
Guess what, Bluetooth sound quality is really really horrible. Even a normal hq MP3 loaded to the car via usb/sd card is better than tidal hifi (max) over Bluetooth.
Would this work with WiFi only iPad and hotspot to mobile? I wouldn’t want to connect the iPad to the car audio because I use my phone for that and calls etc.
@@Snayps I indeed did download the shortcuts from your site. Here’s where I got stuck/ confused. In Shortcuts app open Automation, click on + button. When Focus is ON, Do: Run Shortcut, choose the shortcut for Carplay ON. Then create same automation for Focus OFF. Specifically the “click on the + button. While in automation I don’t have the + button on that step.
I agree, but 10 years ago there was no keep in lane function, self driving or even auto shifting in most cars. Its more safe than any time. I can fully control my iPad just a voice. ✨
