Big Jack Horner is such an amazing villain character. Most of the time when animated films show a villain, they have a tragic backstory, a good or relatable reason for going down a dark path, and it is so refreshing to have a villain who is bad simply because they want to be. Big Jack Horner fits none of the traditional villain stereotypes. He has no physical traits that mark him as a villain, no scars, no blemishes, his hair is clean and pink, his face is heavily plump, and rather innocent looking when he's not mad. Honestly, his character design could've just as easily been used for a good or neutral character, and this adds to his appeal as his personality clashes so much with his appearance. Additionally, he had a good upbringing, no real reason to go bad, but he chose to anyway. It is so refreshing to see a bad guy who is just bad and makes no effort to apologize for it or seek sympathy from the audience. He is a villain, and he loves it, and I love it too.

Nah the whole point of his character is to poke fun at the stereotypical boring villains, the villains u are describing where they are bad just because they want to be are extremely common it’s not a novelty concept and they are always horrible characters, thats why they put his goody two shoes backstory in there because its funny when he says that stuff is all worthless in his “therapy session” with jiminy cricket, he is much more of a humorous villain than he is an evil villain

@@NinjapowerMS I don't really understand this, Death didn't get a lot of screentime but he was effectively present throughout the entire movie as the motive for Puss and the cause/personification of his fears and flaws. As for not being seen by the others earlier, there's no point, he is a personal antagonist for Puss and involving others in with Death would've just muddied that. And lastly he didn't lose lose, sure Puss beat him but only through fighting for his life instead of for glory, which is only because of Death pretty much what he wanted anyways. If Puss didn't mature it would've gone the same way it did in the beginning. Even then Puss admits he could never truly defeat Death.

I kind of wish that he got his wish, he represents an newer iteration of the villain without a cause. He’s a old relic of a bygone era, the old granddad king of villainy, coming back as a refreshing concept mixed with nostalgia of what old villains used to be like. If the king deserves his crown than this man deserves all the magic in the world as a omega giant bending everything at his whim.

Death is so iconic in this movie, but John Mulaney absolutely slays as Jack. I recently rewatched the Captain Underpants Movie, where Nick Kroll plays Professor Poopeypants, which was another iconic comedic villain. I’d love to see Mulaney and Kroll play off of each other as dual-comedic villains in future movies, as they have played well together on SNL and Big Mouth. There’s a ton of potential there.
