Its kinda like how we got tired of Goody Two Shoes Boy Scout Hero Archetypes and got more invested in morally ambiguous edgy Anti-Heroes for a time And now anytime we have characters that are actually heroic role models is a pleasant surprise.
Absolutely Its nice to see fantastic villains. More the reason I prefer DreamWorks over Disney after all recent Disney animated movies are pretty much been villain free which has been pretty sad. all 3 Villains in this movie has been absolutely fantastic. This movie may end up being in my top 10 favorite animated movies
So we’re not going to talk about how he got pushed and insulted by a bear then proceeding to get his weapon in the most casual way possible to just launch the bear back?
I love how this move made all three types of antagonists, and made them pretty well to: Goldy and the Three Bears were the redeemable, relatable antagonists Death was the masterfully emotionless, apathetic terror, who isn’t evil as much as he is doing what he is meant to do. And Jack is the irredeemable villain who just knows and 100% accepts their evilness.
@@9051team yeah baby did say that but in that situation it was a sugar coat version of "i'll wear your skin" thats why jack said its weird. Thats the best thing about this movie, they sugar coated all the fuck up shit like peritto story and all jack's murders like those old show in the early 2000. The moment o saw the scar on peritto belly, i knew this the movie gonna be disturbing to those who see through the sugar coat
@@_the_rizzler Yeah, the moment I heard him speak I immediately thought of Timon. And Nathan Lane came to mind, it shocked me when I found out it wasn't him
In a world where Disney is terrified of having a villain at all now I think he was gracefully needed. Just a character that's unapologetically evil and wears it like a badge of honour.
"You know what they say, can't bake a pie without loosing a dozen men" in reference to the expression "can't make an omlette without cracking a couple eggs" and also the men were called the bakers dozen, which is double funny since hes now mixing metaphors and terminology because a bakers dozen is 13, and he lost all but one in the incident, so he lost 12, AKA a regular dozen
Absolutely love the villains in this movie: Normal person with understandable wants that just happen to conflict with the protagonist. Embodiment of a force of nature that the protagonist has to face. Pure evil asshole. Not even "Embodiment of evil", literally just a normal guy awful in every possible way
It was the stand-up comedian, John Mulaney. He also voiced Spider-Ham in Into The Spiderverse Edit: As well as Chip in the Rescue Rangers movie from last year
I loved his last words "What did I do to deserve this? I mean, what specifically...?" like he he knows he's a total bastard, but still wants to know the exact reason he's being sucked into a void because there are so many reasons.
I liked how he blamed the first shot on the guy, the second shot he admitted to missing and the third blamed the sights, he may be evil but when he fails he admits and tries again
The Polish translation of that is funny, cuz instead of translating it properly, the people who did that translated it to: "Is that some kind of a fetish?". Literally laughed out loud when I heard it
So we're just gonna ignore the fact that despite the fact he doesn't have any magic and believed that he never had much as a kid, Jack Horner has a creative mind and could put it to anything? He used unicorn horns as arrows, Excalibur as a hammer, a Phoenix as a flame thrower, and his henchmen as a bridge.
Thanks god they finally make a real nonredeemable and non-sympathetical bad guy. I suppose it's to balance with the neutrality of Big Bad Wolf but it's a puff of fresh air after all of the anti-villains we got
@@GarlicPudding I think the guy meant to say how nowadays there aren't really villains in kids movies, just sympathetic antagonists (Thanos in Infinity War, Mei's mom in Turning Red), last minute reveals (Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Coco, The Incredibles 2), or there aren't any villains at all (Inside Out, Frozen 2, Encanto, Raya, Strange World)
when the jiminy cricket knockoff says there 'good in all people' technically there is some semblance of good in big jack, is passion for delicious pies
@@Jroobelucios Well they're all alternate imaginings of various fairy tail characters, "knockoff"/parody is actually kind of the intention, so it's not a bad descriptor since this one is designed to mock the Disney version specifically 🤔
@@homerman76 knockoff implies unoriginality or bootleg, correct? And this character, while parodying the Disney interpretation of the character, is neither.
0:42 I will always laugh at the way Jack says "Stop throwing my men at me". He's doesn't care that his men are being thrown around just as long they aren't thrown at him
What we really need is a spinoff of this with jack and the cricket where jack has to show some genuine good exists in him to the cricket to be granted his life back again. In the end he would succeed, only to come back and crush that little bit of goodness inside of him like glados killed the remaining part of her humanity. Having learned nothing from the experience and simply going back to his magic hoarding ways.
Nah, he's more symilar to Judge Holden from Blood Meridian Both Jack and Holden are: -pale Skinned -big -Have baby face -commit atrocities for fun -had contact with puppy - have symilar sounding names : Judge Holden -Jack Horner -irredemable
I do too. It's funny how most villains used to be the typical "straight-up evil" in most films, and then sometime in the 2010s, it became more common to have sympathetic villains, because I guess film writers wanted to try something new. But like you said, there's been so many morally gray villains who often have "sob backstories" for a while, that it's now refreshing to see a pure evil villain who doesn't care whom he hurts as long as he obtains his goal. After seeing Big Jack Horner in action, I think we might end up having more "pure evil" villains make a comeback soon. :D
"You're not going to shoot a puppy, are you, Jack?" "Yeah, in the face, why?" I love this line, I haven't even watched the movie and he's one of my favorite villains. My favorite villains are the ones who know they are the villain, and embrace it with every ounce of their being without trying to justify it.
i love the small detail of jack not actually looking through where he’s supposed to look through on the crossbow. the eye that’s meant to be looking through it is the one that’s shut. the sight isn’t off, his aim is.
Fun fact: The real life Jack Horner was actually a slick weasel type who absconded with the deed to a mansion that was going to a neighboring king. Strangely the deed itself actually WAS in a pie.
Because it's impractical, sadistic, and insulting. Manpower is literally more valuable than gold if you think about it. You can argue about Cult Leaders, but religious Zealotry requires them to put their money where their mouths are and can't convince their followers to throw their lives away without them taking the first step themselves.
Yeah. Dark lords who reign with terror are impractical, and idiotic. It makes them easy to beat, cause once they show weakness, their minions either bail or turn on them. I like dark lords who are charismatic, intelligent rulers who can turn their followers into armies of zealots that would die for the cause. They’re harder to beat, and make for a more compelling story. The heroes have to earn that win sometimes, y’know?
The main reason why I personally think Death and Big Jack Horner can be considered as the two main antagonists of the Puss in Boots: The Last Wish movie because Death has a personal connection with Puss, he’s Puss’ greatest challenge, he’s the film’s bigger and greater threat and he’s overall influence with Puss is more bigger than others and Big Jack Horner is the one with the bigger plans, he’s the one with more screen time, he drove the plot (most of the plot is mostly about wanting to fight for the last wish), he’s the film’s main and direct threat and he’s a villain that’s actually a pure evil.
It pisses me off that the Wikia community decided he was only "Inconsistently Heinous" at best purely because he was "far too comedic". Pathetic! Big Jack Horner is PURE EVIL & no one can tell us otherwise!
Eh, it seems society goes back and forth between demanding relatable anti-villains with sob backstories and then wanting pure evil villains who love being evil.
All of his facial expressions and subtle shifts in attitude are golden. Seriously, go back and just pay attention to how much his face moves around and changes shape like he's made of Play-Doh. So many good frames and the animators are gods, especially with the direction and decision making for the subtle humor with it all.
There is a lot of things this movie did amazingly but one of my favorites is coming up with the idea of having the Conscience sit on Jack’s shoulder and we are just reminded of just how pure evil Jack is. They didn’t have to do it but they did and we are glade for it.
