We've had the 'Goose Fair' in Nottingham for hundreds of years. Originally it was held in the Old Market Square but was moved to the Forest Recreation Ground in 1928 where it has remained ever since. It runs the very first week in October - fingers crossed this year!
The start and the end of the film from the karate demo are not the Goose Fair held in Nottingham but the camping meet of Nottingham DA of the camping club held just out side the town. People would come and camp from all over the country and would be bussed into Nottingham to visit the fair. It was always a great weekend every one would dress up and join in the fun. This would be why the chap had his cat with him. We went to the event every year for 42 years until the last one held at Southwell Race course, sadly costs made the event to expensive to carry on.
