I didn't truly discover this video but rather this video found me after a few days of ogling the uniqueness of the original Jupiter-6 (thanks, algorithms). In spite of my lack of exposure to both the time period and the actual gear, the cold & alien analog character of that machine charmed me. A lot of these older instruments kind of remind me of the nostalgia and high-maintenance protocols of classic-automobiles. We are fortunate to have an attainable manifestation of this historic era. Thanks for demonstrating it.
I used to own (and love) a Jupiter 6. It didn't really sound cold - more warm and glassy with some bad ass bass, depending on the patch of course. This plugin sounds very similar but seems a little cold or harsh at times - again, depending on the patch. :)
Your keyboard skills really enhance this demo of sounds. Bought the Mercury-6 earlier this year when it came out. Haven't really scratched the surface with it yet. Have previewed many of the sounds and tried to make a list of favorites. There are so many!!
WOW! I had 3 Jupiter-6s throughout the 80’s and 90’s and for the most part this nails their sound very well. It sounds just a little more “digital” than the pure Jupiter-6 does. A tad more like certain elements you’d hear out of a JX-3P or even a D-50. But honestly, most of the differences I’m hearing here are BETTER, so I think it’s a good tradeoff. But I’ll be honest, I think the Arturia Jupiter-8 is the king.
@@bmaier490 - The TAL is not nearly as accurate and good sounding as the Arturia. It has low frequency waveform glitch issues that are VERY typical of digital synths. The Arturia is free of these. Also, the layout matters! If you’re going to make a Jupiter 8, make a Jupiter 8! Since I’m so familiar with where the controls on a real Jupiter 8 and the Arturia Jupiter 8 are, having them moved around or different is a real impediment to the workflow for me. I would not want to work on the TAL version.
the roland remake sounds proper and clean. i am still happy with the spectrasonics omnisphere, but this one here is so much cheaper! love the sound out of it. we only need to add alot of FX ...........thats the difference, means more cpu power at the end, thanks for showing of! i think im gonna buy it. 80's forever
Ive had four of these over the decades before the s/h prices went absolutely nuts, the plugin is great. i used JP6 on every record i released back in the early 2000's, but the polyphony limit was really annoying and they were already old then and broke a lot, the unlimited polyphony takes it somewhere else and no long cross country trips to a service engineer for expensive repairs... But half of the charm is hitting those sliders, using a midi controller doesnt really cut it for me.

Thanks for the demo. Sounds good enough to use in a track to me, I don't think I would use it for bass over my analogue bass sounds but other patches I would.
I used to prefer my Jupiter 6 over my Juno 60 for synth bass, but this is a little thinner sounding than the original J-6, I guess. I still want it though. It still sounds great IMO. 😅
Lol, and so it should when comparing the Massive price difference. Personally I wouldn't spend that much on a digital emulation of an Analog...it's never going to sound right, because it simply can't.
It sounds good but is an emulation of the Jupiter-8 while this one is emulating the Jupiter-6, which is quite a different synth, with very different possibilities and a totally different sound.
