Yes, it is possible to cut a perfect circle, with perfect vertical cut, using my circle cutting jig for jigsaw. No need to drill a hole to insert the jigsaw blade, so there are no marks in the edge of the wooden circle, and the edge is also perfect, with a perfect vertical cut, because I my guide with bearings keeps perfectly vertical and straight the jigsaw blade, so the blade cannot bend. So, if you look for how to cut perfect circles in wood using a jigsaw, this woodworking technique and this circle cutting jig for jigsaw can be of your interest.

Nicely done mate, and a great quality cut on that circle! 👍🏾 I think the problem with the blade bogging down and getting blunt so quickly is because the blade runs in an up and down motion, and the bottom of the jig where the bearings are stop the sawdust from falling out and jams up in the cut, maybe if you continuously run the jigsaw backwards every 5 seconds or so, letting the sawdust escape you might find it may cut better? I'd be interested in finding out if this makes a difference.

Thank you very much Bill 😀. Cutting this hardwood makes a loooot of very fine sawdust. It accumulates a lot under the metallic shoe of the jigsaw. Also the bearings are very near the bottom of this thick oak board. And I think I should use a jigsaw with some more power than this one. The result is there is too much overheating everywhere. I tried to give some rest to the jigsaw from time to time, but it looks it was not enough. But anyway, I am very happy that I could make so very nice circle cut with the jigsaw in this thick oak board 😀😀😀

I liked your first model for cutting the circles but I love this one with its great cut. I will have to go out & buy a couple of bearings & make up a jig like this one. Very clever work, thanks for sharing. Don from South Aust.

Excellent video. Instead of "take away the screw", (quitar el tornillo), English speakers usually say ""remove the screw".

Great video. I tried cutting a circle with a jig saw in plywood and it was perfect and simple. But cutting hardwood is another story the blade didn't stay in place. You have a great solution here if it's gotta be done with a jig saw.

Curious....maybe you know.. Do router bits come in this long of a length? And if so? Is it cost prohibitive? I know the blade of a jigsaw is skinnier and will be less dust...but was curious about the length of router bits. Cool jig though! 😇😎
@FranksDIY
@FranksDIY 4 года назад
@@mrupholsteryman Yes they do at a bit more costly than a jigsaw blade but more accurate. If you don't have one this is the way to go.

I wonder if this can be done with a reciprocating saw with a bigger jig and floor roller..a whole table built just for it if you do alot odf thick round table cuts..also some king of center radius pin or pole even if you have to fill it in later with wood filler

Very nice way to cut circles with jig saw. I did not understand why you had to screw the jig in 2 places of the work piece. Would one screw in the Center of the needed circle enough to get a perfect circle?
@michalsalter-duke4028
@michalsalter-duke4028 4 года назад
The first one is for cutting in from the edge to the right place. Although there could probably be a different way to do it with only one screw. Maybe free hand cut to the right spot? But his way made a really clean line where the actual circle started, so other ways might not work so well.

it's possible to cut in 45° angle to make bowls ?
@ParaBellum2024
@ParaBellum2024 4 года назад
That would be good if you could make it work. Similar to what you can do with a scroll saw. It should be straightforward to cut the outer circle, but you'd need 45 degree pilot holes for the inner circles, big enough for a jigsaw blade.

why are tiny pin holes a problem? could be filled with sawdust and glue afterward and completely disappear. and often the center hole will be needed for "step 2" of construction anyway.

It looked like the bearings were riding forward onto the teeth of the jigsaw blade. If so, that is probably why your teeth got dull so quickly.
