You can use either. Just need an OTG adapter with the regular USB port

Most people use the firestick to watch live tv with an iotv and record their shows to watch later

We have a video where we do it. It's not as easy as the 4k max (that was the upgrade they did to it). But you can do it if you follow our guide. It's probably two years old now, but still works the same

If the app is updating through the main stick, you will. Easy to move update and move back

Yes, but not quite as easy or accessible. You need a program and have to move stuff back and forth. You can't really run apps off the external drive. Just use it to store recordings and downloads

You could add at 4k max stick to that tv though and do it

Locked up. Prob lost signal while doing an automatic update. Sometimes that happens. That's why we tell people to turn OFF auto updates. You will have to factory reset it. But you can try unplugging from power outlet AND the tv for 60 seconds and plug it back in and see if it boots. If not, same result. use our factory reset instructional video.

If I just posted this today, how could you have the exact equipment. Did you get the seagate one touch drive? If you didn't, you need to format the drive on your PC first to fat32. That's why I like the one touch. You don't have to do that. The links to the correct equipment needed is in the description section of this video. Double check it
