Saving the beautiful accent lines in the doors and quarter windows is next level. The time saved not having to make all those again is next level.. bravo...
Thinking outside the box, I like it...works perfect on that car in my opinion because those 2 doors are too long and have too much flat area between the doors and rear fenders, Thumbs up
I think the way you guys chopped & shortened this beast is pretty damn nice wow looking factory fitting superb.Killa work & greetings from sth Australia 🇦🇺 👍
I'm 51, but when I started in shops in 90/91 I worked with guys who were in there 40s-80s. I wish they were around to see this. I told you I wouldn't chop this because of the difficulty level. I have seen several aero coupe chops go horrible. I stand corrected. They way you two did this kicks ass. In my head the roof gets cut to 8 pieces like a 50 Merc. This is WAAAY easier/smarter. Shortening it makes it almost simple and brings the proportions back to scale. 🫡 hats off gentlemen. I'm impressed.
Thank you a ton. Means a lot coming from you and I honestly feel honored to have your approval. I respect my elders that have been around way more of this stuff than I have and to hear that means the world. Thanks again buddy
@@ThePaintPaperHustle no problem. Thank you. I really enjoy the channel. You guys seem like genuinely decent and honest(+talented)people. I have been involved in a lot of custom, restoration and drag builds over the years. I have been fortunate to work with some really talented guys. I am truly impressed with how you two did the chop. I'm always happy to learn something new.
These. guys have design skills, Chad, just tries to mimick other people's design skills and then makes it look good for u tupe with gallons of fill with no concern for door gaps or final fitment. His name shouldn't even come up on a site with real craftsmanship
Makes sense, basically just a cut and shut, it sould be ok because it's on a frame, but if not you should put some inner strength back into the pillars.
I've always wondered why people worry about the length of the car when it goes back together so well when you shorten it, hopefully you'll weld the side panels back into the door jambs and not have a vertical weld behind the door 😉, just thinking it would keep the side from needing any bodywork being cracked up by the doors being closed, nicely done guys
For the fenders might have to make some, do a layout in cardboard to flow with the front and rear of the wheel well. You want to do so much with this car, need to focus on one purpose, the big wheels need to make sure everything attached to them is bigger also. You have a race car now make a nice cruiser.
Man yall are definitely making moves , looks great , I have done a few stock floor body drops , I have never chopped a top … have you decided on what engine and trans ?
If you mess up we're going to have to come up with a name for you like Bad Chad, I'm thinking Crooked Courtney. 🤣 You only get that name depending how it turns out.
They sale a tack strip you can get at a upholstery supply. It's called Convertible Top Tack strip. It sold by the foot. It comes in 5/8" × 1/8" or 1/2" x 3/8". I have even seen older guys cut wood to go into those places.
@@ThePaintPaperHustle Awesome, I just came across your channel this morning. I do upholstery for a living and been doing it since 1991. I had not had a job since 1995. I am only 52 years old. LoL But I Love doing it and man, I wish I could do metal work. I enjoy customizing like this. I have a Convertible pickup truck I did myself and I need body work and paint one day. I will be watching.
this job is cool. think 55 chevy straight axle gasser, built from a 2dr sedan,to a buisness cpe by only shortening the roof and quarters 5 inches, not a clown car,but a real buisness cpe, which chevrolet did not make in 55
Every time you show the car at an angle looks like a big VW Bug. Had to watch some chopping videos alot of pre-planning but it's metal so you can weld back together and fill in the gaps needed to get the right look. Leave the rockers gives the car a wider look and some lines
🤔... Doing all this Kool work and not making the back windows functional is stupid...makes zero sense... electric universal kits are cheap and work well...please don't turn into CRAP CHAD...🤣🤙🍷😎🏁
