This channel covers the build and journey of my 1974 Procharged Mercury Comet with a TKM built Coyote. Here we share a ton of helpful information and grow together. The goal of this channel is to help others be able to build beautiful vehicles at a fraction of the cost of the big guys. Its one of my goals and passions to prove over and over that you can make your vehicle look just as good for half the cost if you're willing to put in the work! We also cover a lot of daily shop life inside a paint and body shop where we buy/repair/sell totaled salvage title vehicles that we purchase to flip from IAA auctions. I share as much inside information as I can and educate you on all the ins and outs of a body shop/dealership. Thanks for watching and we hope you subscribe!
Next time RU-vid would have seen it it would have been in primer if I was worried about it. Better man than me. Way more confident in my body filler skills than metal working.
Im 7o yrs old and always did my body work with a torch. The weld was flatter, softer needing a lot less grinding, and high spots were shrunk during welding.
If you have to use wire feed welder, use Flux coated wire without the gas it seems to be softer and easier to grind. Most importantly, don't get overwhelmed it's a car. There are always ways to fix the problems and there will problems. It's still one of the smartest chops I've seen
It’s really not a screw up. It’s like you said a leaning curve in your journey. A little hammer and Dolly work and it’s mint. Filler will take care of that with no problems. Looks good. I’ve done several and every one is a different from car to car. lol
Once you talked about chopping the top i came across bellos kustoms video and saw those butt weld tools he used them and wanted to comment to you on them but didnt know what they were called. Need to check out his videos might give you some ideas and a bit more knowledge.
Remember the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady wins the race. Also, you don't know what you don't know. The important thing is you learn from your mistakes, fix them and move forward. By sharing with your viewers, they can learn and will want to watch even more. Dad
Thanks. We started this channel a few years ago with the goal to teach and discuss every piece of a build. The last one we did (the comet) we covered every single nut and bolt on the car including why how and where purchased from on most all items. This grew the channel with people that wanted to learn what the others channel skip over and don’t cover. Often the guys that have never done this before get skipped over and all the small details left out which was once me. I wanted to build a channel where we didn’t entertain but instead cover ever step of the build. I try to find a happy medium but still want to cover/discuss the small stuff that the other guys don’t.
If he doesn't talk and explain things as he goes how are we supposed to learn. Id rather listen to him explain things than just sitting here watching him weld !!
itisnt a screw up until you say good enough and leave the mistake. you said you want to take your time and do it right so take your time and fix as issues arise take a break and calm down when chit goes sideways. love your openness and honesty
I was going to mention this before but you move so fast I figured it would have been too late ……search you tube for fitzees fabrication he has a method called butt n cut that would work perfect for this
I have the same mustang body style but my driver side fender was hit and made my wheel negative camber so I changed the suspension that broke but after the camber still stayed and they told me the frame moved like a inch and that’s why I have negative camber only on my driver side
Yes actually have but it’s been done so many times that I think I need something that really gets people attention. Also thought about figuring out how to turn a mud tire into a white wall.
Do not DUB the car out. Over-sized (disproportionate) wheels distracts from all the hard work you put into the body. 17s front, 18s rear is a nice balance - but the 15s also work, but a Barret Jackson grade car needs custom wheels. No off road junk. Great build so far. Love how this is going !
Looking forward to the build. Can't say I'm a fan of your decision on the motor though. Not really exciting on my part. But, your project, so have at it. I'll still follow. Peace and love, Tim
Watch a few episodes of welder up. He makes some stupid power and torque with these. And you find out companies that have adapters for different transmisson from manual to automatics
Race cars matter to a small percentage of people. I find no joy in racing the car. Not gonna do what I don’t enjoy. I’d sale it right now if I could for a fair dollar. I enjoyed the build and proud of the level of car I built but in my eyes it’s done and that accomplishment has been achieved. My brain doesn’t see or feel reward in driving it. I’m building another vehicle bc I want to prove to myself that again I can learn the unknown and build something unique. When this one’s done there will be no reason to keep it long term bc I’ll have either accomplished or failed at my goal. If I fail I’ll redo it till I feel I succeeded then the goal will be complete and I can sale it and move on to another build.
I love the engine choice and I would still keep the big 22" wheels will look better with the chopped top keep being you I'll like it however you go with this car.
Omg, sounds like every wife out there, this is what we're going to do, hold on now we're doing this. Thank you for not making another very multi purpose car. Sounds like kind of a rat rod be great if you could clear it. Harper hopes it done by her 16th birthday. Good luck
