Mad. Being a South West Londoner growing up with So Solid and Asher being one of my favourites ever when he was a Garage MC. I was schooled too realising how great Dizzee was. When I discovered Dizzee/Wiley the birth of grime was another stepchange in the UK music scene and the rest was history once I discovered them. Not dismissing Garage and its influence but grime was a huge evolution of the scene bridging what we have today for UK rap/drill.

man this was such a huge moment in uk culture...grime was slowly taking over garage around these times and cause all these guys were the biggest of the biggest crews that represented an entire scene it was like Grime vs Garage...this was one of the biggest culture clashes in uk history

I remember this back in 03 before Boy In Da Corner released everyone agreed at the time that Dizzee won because Asher was spitting rhymes that were prewritten cos halfway through they play his track and it was lyrics he used earlier in the battle. The thing was, nobody knew that Dizzee lyrics were prewritten too as was evidenced when Boy In Da Corner was released later that year.

Do people realise that So Solid left their UK Garage roots to do Hip Hop (with all that American slang smh)? So Solid are UKG legends but they didn't embrace the Grime scene. They did one Grime track with Sef years back, but from 2002 onwards it was all about East London MC's, DJ's and Producers.

Grime started off a pirate radio and was a voice for real street players, crime and ego was rife back then, the stations were packed out with thugs and a lot of verbal muscle was thrown around. So solid were big in the south and mega was a suge knight he was feared. They were misbehaving with the popular east kid as choice fm was in south, now the sellout station is in central, dizzee talks about the stabbing on vlad tv. I used to think dizzee was a sell out for going pop. I fucking get it now. He escaped the bullshit. Boy in the corner was summer 03's bible. Its Hard to decide as they both have different styles of rapping. Asher sounds more 'Hip Hop' whereas Dizzie Rascal started with a garage flow given that the 'Wiley-Igloo' war track was playing. Gradually Dizzie adapted his flow in a capella to suit Asher D's style which in fairness is a unique thing to do given the occasion and his age at the time. Asher D had good use of lyrical content and hit hard with his lyrics. He had a good UK hip Hop style with good rhyming and linking of flows. After Asher told him to 'speed up his flow', dizzie somewhat woke up and changed his style then hit him with a big lyric that got him (10:32) ---- "fake thug, megas puppet on a string"! It was all entertainment though and it was funny when mega jumped on the mic when Wiley came on the mic, Spitting bars at (18:17) and after said "where is your vocabulary"? "How much what you doing is there in that one paragraph"?, AHAHAHAAHA, had me in stitches! To decide a winner I have to give the clash to Dizzie, He came with garage and hip hop flows in a tense clash. I would like to have heard Asher spit on garage too. If he did I would have given the clash to Asher because he went deep in his lyrical content.
