I like the Lew's KVD baitcast reel. I bought a new or like new one at a major discount at the Bass Pro outlet in Springfield last spring. It casts and retrieves very smoothly. I actually like the feel and shape of the factory EVA grips. It looks nice too. The only issue for me is there are several other brands of reels available at the $150 price point that I like. I have the 8:1 ratio model and use it for topwater baits.
I use nothing but Lew's reels, Spinning and casting.Quite a few different models with different braking systems.I believe they have four different braking systems on their casting reels
I love the review videos, I believe it helps to watch them before I purchase any fishing products. Different strokes for different folks makes a difference. Keep up the good work brother, good video!
not a bad review, although... the only thing that's new about that reel is the color and putting the KVD logo on it. That reel is actually the Lew's Tournament MP LFS that's been out for 2-3 years now, so technically nothing new. the $10 less price difference is the downgrade in paddles from the combat paddles to the EVA foam ones. GREAT reel though, and the centrifugal internal brakes are pretty common for a long time now, coupling those with the external magnetic brakes, work pretty sweet! Absolutely love my Tourney MP LFS!!!
They are very similar. I should have included the MP in the review. I showed the combat grips on the MP, but then put it down. They are slightly different. The KVD has brass gears, while the MP has aluminum gears, making it a tad lighter (.3 ounces). The MP also has the combat grips and the combat thumb bar. The MP is a tad better reel in my opinion for those reasons, but may not be worth $10 to someone else.
@@FishingtheLoneStar great video! Curious on the difference between brass and aluminum gears. I'm not concerned with weight though. Which is more durable and is better for longevity? Thank you
Man that's a beautiful beast there brother I may have just found my new Christmas gift lol great content brother looking forward to see you use that bad boy 👍🏻🇺🇲👊🏻🎣👏🏻👌🏻
It’s a great reel, especially for this price point. Super impressed, and I’ll admit, I was a skeptic. It’s been very smooth so far too! Currently using it as a weightless worm reel/rod.
I really don’t mess with them much at all, but you can take off the side plate and there are four settings there that you can turn off and on. A simple click of a button for each one.
Are you comparing that $40 extra to the LFS? The LFS has a completely different braking system altogether. The indicator for whether or not your internal brakes are on, is compared to the same braking of the Custom Black and Tournament MP, both more expensive reels, that do not have this indicator.
