I don't understand. If it's within the laws then whats the problem is it because it's working for us. Test matches are won by your pack so we are blessed to have this much depth. It's not like other teams can't do it too.

Ah, the sweet sound of sour grapes. Rassie has built such depth in SA Rugby that we could field three separate starting teams. The 6:2 split isn't unfair, it's called having options/depth-sorry, not sorry, our bench players could be start the game too. If the rules weren't designed for this, maybe it's time to update the playbook (since Williams ran on a pitch in the olden days). Tactical subs are a thing now, not just emergency backups. Rassie is absolutely right. Every time when they put the weight of the packs on the screen the opposition is very often heavier or there is very little difference. It is absolute nonsense that the Bok forwards are these huge forwards that far outweigh their opponents and therefore prefer a slower game. Go and check the AB pack vs Bok pack in WC final.

Leave Rassie alone. Each team can select thier number of reserve as they need. How many forwards or backs are need for the game. Just sore losers. And I feel Ireland did very well in the last test. Williams can't take it that a team out of Africa can win too.

I don’t always agree with Rassie but in this case what he does with his bench is his business. I think Matt Williams is just courting attention as a pundit. In a rugby game players can get injured be it in the 40th minute or the 60th. You can’t tell when. Both sides have benches and it is the coaches decision on how they are stacked and when players come on to either cover injury or to make an impact. How Rassie uses his bench is up to him .

Matt Williams still doesnt give reasons as to why the 6 forwards aren't supposed to be put at the same time ... he criticises it but doesnt give solid reasons why that can't be the case ...Rassie isnt exploiting anything ...he's playing the game according to the rules of the game...no one every told every other rugby team not to do the same ....so why has this guy been on our case since beating New Zealand before the world cup... he's been relentless tryin to influence the rugby boards to change the game to suit what he wants and that is not gona happen...

Who the hell does Williams think he is to dictate how teams should play. The spirit of the game has nothing to do with the balance between forward and back play. If opponents' backs can't last 80 minutes that's their problem. If they want to put on 6 replacement backs to try to run rings around the tired Springboks they are welcome to back the "spirit" in which they play and do so. They obviously don't have confidence in their ability to do so.

Matt Williams is a crybaby. If they thought of that, nothing would've been said. Why is this dangerous ? Australia is the first team that started with a backline join scrum to help with pushover try, which means it could be 12 or more players against 8. It's still been done, but not a word get said. This is rugby, not that netball rugby they play.
