17:35 - Chris, I've never seen you this happy. We are all glad with these amazing progresses in the compositor. Thanks you for sharing another amazing video!
Music to my ears. I've persisted with the compositor as it's very functional. The workflow benefits of keeping my post production in Blender are significant. Happy happy happy
This is like getting a photoshop fx suite for adding "the look" we want to our renders, for free... And more features will be implemented in the future when in full function mode... OMG!!! Blender, I LOVE YOU! Love the video! I have a Photoshop and don't remember it to be so fast! I need to sit down before I faint... Btw. We are talking 3d here, Photoshop is only postprocessing when it comes to a photo...
This is a great thing. I always felt guilty exporting into another software cause how slow the blender composting phase was. But once this becomes a full release I am all on board with composting in blender.
I have known Blender for a long time, but only recently I have tried to improve my Blender skills to the point that I could eventually use it professionally, for instance as a replacement for After Effects. Naturally I ended up experimenting with the compositor. Let's just say that when you rotated that blurred cube, it was like seeing ufo technology in real life. Hopefully they add very simple nodes to the new compositor, for us dumb people who can't make our own effects with math.
Once all the nodes are implemented, there will be minimal photoshop to be done. Especially on videos, when the nodes can be keyframed. As a graphics artist, this is going to cut my worktime by more than half and I'm so glad for it. I'm happy that I stuck with blender over the years, now more than ever. Will definitely be giving the experimental a whirl and see how it compares.
I asked in a live stream to Pablo about a Blender Launcher when I was still new to Blender and he didn't think it was a good idea. He asked how would it work, who would use it and why would you want it, that he thought it wasn't a good idea. I am glad someone made it!
Great video. If you hold ALT and drag a node, it will disconnect without breaking the connections between the previous and next node. Equally, CTRL-X does the same thing but deletes the node.
This is why I love blender, I know many applications where a plug in like this would have cost money, or if it was implemented as a part of the program they would have changed the version of the program and sold it and made advertisements like new version of jkj3d 2.8 now with realtime compositor, for 250€ or upgrade jkj3d 2.4 for just 50€
We need more compositor focus - both on training and development. Just noticed that you can group compositor nodes. Really surprised not much market currently for selling grouped compositor nodes (or custom compositor nodes) - all sorts of effects ...
OMG! This is a great update! I work with Blender Compositor and enjoy it . I'm trying to record a Blender Compositor course for ArchViz and ProductViz, but the problem is: TO SLOW. Any changes that we made take so time, especially with some nodes as Blur, Distortion, Sun Beans and, of course, allways re-processing the Open Image Denoise node. I'm so excited about this real time compositor!!! Thank you @Crhis P for this video!
7:54 Note: You can press the alt key while click-dragging the node to extract it from the tree without disconnecting the other nodes (they get hotwired).
Hi I'm french then I wanted to thank you for your way of speaking, clear, fresh and with a nice speed ! I think it's really conform to the OPEN source philosophy - unlike a guy with his lazy tutorials for exemple (that are very clever and good)... Means u're not lazy for us who aren't speaking fluently. Thanks *10 Good luck for the future 🙂🍻
How cool would it be to use Blender as a real-time compositing tool during streams or video meetings? The OBS or zoom-keyers are terrible and colour correction is just impossible…
Hey Chris great tutorial, real time compositing is awesome and you explained it really well. How did you change both values of the sliders at once at 12:35 in blur node.
Try the shortest path experimental, second most await node for me right after tessellate node (adaptive polygons from in sverchock or bit like micromesh from zbrush), bisect would be third, but still I have hope that we will get at least some solvers this year I just want rigged body solver badly too just to make same animation nodes could, dropping fractured pieces with a field.
Just a quick idea (have no chance to test it myself atm): if you're cropping the rendered view to the camera frame, maybe then the vignette will be based on this instead of the whole viewport?
@@chrisprenn amazing update!!! i hope it for a long long time。。。 iam a unreal user and unreal have the powerful postprocess compositor and hope blender will have it~ ,,,,cheers today!!!!!
@@digitalhouse6969 You can obviously use both but they have pretty different UI which makes switching between the apps harder. I wish I could do it all in Blender where I think the UI is better after learning both Blender and Gimp.
i am watching your Animation nodes tutorials , should i invest more time in AN or i should just start learning GN and forget about AN ? because AN are WAY more powerful
I've tested in my potato laptop (i7 4th gen - 16GB Ram and 4GB GTX 860M ),and it's much better and faster than before ! So for simple postwork I can do it in there without bring in another 2d image editor apps
What do you mean by that?:) I think that for example, entire sculpting is a video game section, and they are making it still more and more viable:) But Yeah, I agree that for example texture exporting, etc., could be more straightforward
As soon as the new realtime compositor is ported into the actual compositor. At the moment the realtime compositor is for the viewport but the blender devs want to bring it to the "real" compositor in the future!
Wow, this is so good, it's actually getting really embarrassing for the paid programs out there. Blender is making their excuses to want money very, very slim. LMAO
Dman you RU-vid, he's an intersting guy but my blender skills aren't even at bake details yet. sorry to click off early... Thank you so much for the tool btw! haha please make the GUI movement like unity/unreal as default :P
The results are not accurate enough. If you take a simple scene with a blur node added. Split the viewport to have the rendered result (Image Viewport) on one side and the active 3D Viewport with Composite enabled on the other, set you camera view on the 3D viewport, play with the blur settings....render the results. You will see different blur results in each viewport. The 3D viewport has much more of an effect than the render result.
It is so annoying when you follow the tutorials and get an error. Blender Launcher couldn't be installed because of blah blah blah. So, tell me, if I was to buy some of your products with good money, will I get a message saying "Thanks for the money but for my material pack to work you'll have to change your computer?"
this is so stupid development. need a fix n-panel addons, Mantaflow, FBX import, veiwport perfomance of VDBs, particles development, hair system, VDB and alembic retime and more. They do this. for last year Blender looks like Autodesk with their stupid plans to development.
If you have so many problems with the development, then you should work on it. FBX is made by autodesk, they can't do anything about it if things break, that's why USD was created. Mantaflow the project itself, is out of development by the original developers so the Blender devs can't do anything about it if the people who created mantaflow have stopped developing. VDB is library made by other people, they can do so much without changing the actual library which the blender devs have no control on. The new hair system is already in experimental and people are using it and making videos. And the new particle system is under development. Alembic retime is already possible. You don't pay for blender, they don't owe you anything, if you have problem with the development, do something about it instead complaining like a bitch. The compositor in blender was really slow and now it's real-time and runs on gpu, that's a stupid development to you? NO other software company was able pull off what blender devs were able to.
