I live in NY but my family is originally from Guayaquil and I a wife over there who will soon be coming to NY for her first time to live with me. Due to the dangers and all the chaos currently happening over there I haven’t been able to travel to go visit my wife and seeing you walk around so casually with your phone in your hand and in the dark was very frightening. You’re definitely a brave man for that.
Yea, it probably wasn't a good idea to walk around at night time, but I felt overly confident in the moment. Ultimately, no one should be doing that :)
Its true. I am from Guayaquil, but if you want to feel more confortable that usually happends at the south of the city, if there is too much people usually nothing happens and if you walk with confidence you are not elegible to be robbed, when is dark only then is more dangerous
Mi país es hermoso. Guayaca de corazón con 48 años viviendo aquí. Puedo decirte q he vivido de todo en mi país. Yo no olvido el pasado y se q ha sido peligroso siempre. Pero los buenos somos más lo bonito es más, los lugares de visitar cada día son más, hay q tener cuidado como en todas la partes del mundo, xq he sabido de muchos q viajan y creen eso de la alta seguridad pero igual se encuentran con problemas así q mi país desde hace 4 meses con nuestro Presidente estará cada día las seguro así q vengan aquí la gente le pone corazón a todo
Guayaquil has always been dangerous..However it is not what they want the media to communicate ...Guayaquil inhabitants are genuinely warm and inviting. It is just like more of Ports full of activities., Always super busy, delicious seafood !!!
Is dangerous as any big city but so kind & lovely people , we have people from all the provinces , best food n salsotecas in north like Carlos Alberto, Pancholín, Rincón Caliente
My last time in Guayaquil I was beaten and robbed by 3 guys, in Parque Centenario, in downtown. It happened on a Sunday at 3 in the afternoon, in front of hundreds of people who did nothing to help me, not even after the assailants fled the scene, leaving me lying on the lawn. I was lucky that time. Now there are shootings in the streets due to the settling of scores between criminal gangs. Guayaquil has become a very dangerous city. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit that city. The best thing to do in Guayaquil is to head to the airport and fly somewhere else as soon as possible. Even taking a taxi is risky since there are fake taxi drivers who are actually members of gangs of rapists, kidnappers or drug traffickers.
Thank you for sharing. I made it out luckily, by keeping a low profile. I hope the situation improves one day. Also, I never use the regular taxis. Only ubers.
Yes do not hang out there too long on the other side. But Guayaquil is semifine. I have been living close by for over a year and I am foreign and fine :)

Yea, Guayaquil is pretty cool. If they can somehow cleanse the crime situation (perhaps like El Salvador), it will quickly become a digital nomad location
The large garbage bins would be a waste of time and many places that have garbage bins of some sort you’ll notice are empty with garbage scattered all around it. This is because the homeless go through it looking to scavenge this like food and recyclables.

mote es solo un tipo de maíz, hay variedades de maíz y el mote es uno de ellos, el canguil es otro tipo de maíz, etc, el morocho es otro tipo de maíz.
