2:00 Hmmmmm ...... you understand candela? Candela isn't "power", candela is beam intensity, IE: the Olight has less candela because it floods its beam (much better for a small light), a 1000 lumen thrower will have a bigger candela than a 2000 flood.
@moose2934

I explain it as the equivalent between horsepower and torque - do you want a drag strip car… or a tow pig? A Camaro or a Dually? That seems to cut through the general false-perception of the uninformed majority.

...What? None of those are 'smashing' or 'dominating' in any of the comparisons you presented, you just leaned in one direction in a clear bias. -You focus on the candela as 'higher number is better' but... that's completely neglects flood vs throw preference. - The M200 has positioning you prefer... but doesn't carry as deep and seems to be visibly more bulky overall than the Baton 3 Pro. - This isn't the first time you've done this with prices, focusing on coupon prices for the competitor despite Olight running monthly sales that more than compensates the difference. - Olight's warranty is 5 years vs 2 on the Skilhunt... - Skilhunt's availability is much lower (in the UK smaller brands like Skilhunt aren't as easily available on Amazon) To be honest between this and previous, similar videos it just feels like you have a preference and bias for 'disruptor' brands and like being able to declare these brands winners in comparisons. Your own content doesn't show clear winners, it's just your biased commentary that did and focusing on numbers without actual testing (you don't have to film it, just do it), and talk of price without even considering an even playing field and warranties just... doesn't do your opinion justice.

I usually like your reviews, but I'm not sure we watched the same video here. According to your own stats [some were mis-spoken?], every comparison was a clear TIE. The only thing Skilhunt 'wins' on is price and that's because Olight insists on playing their monthly 'sale' game. The skilhunts are just a different light. They focus [no pun intended] on lights with more throw and if that's what you want, then they are a better light for you. And the size difference in the keychain lights...come'on, you're talking miniscule differences. One last thing that you, and many others, get wrong is the i5r switch. You do NOT have to turn it off to get to high. You simply double half-tap when off to get to high, just like every other light of this type. Think Streamlight 1L1AA and some Surefire. It's like that so you can't accidently go to low, when in high. I hate to say it, but you really sounded like you had to give the 'win' to skilhunt in a paid promotion.

Rotate the pocket clip on the Skilhunt under the charging port, the pocket clip will naturally fit into your finger creases, and the button will always be under your thumb when you pick it up. So that's a simple fix.

The problem with going on stated specs when it comes to flashlights is that many flashlight manufacturer do not publish accurate numbers. For example, the i1r2 Pro vs the EK1 (per 1lumen tests) Olight i1R2 Pro Candela Stated: 580 Measured: 729 Lumens (High) Stated: 180 Measured: - On - 226 - @30s - 209 - @10min - 151 Skilhunt EK1 Candela Stated: 1100 Measured: 905 Lumens (High) Stated: 180 Measured: - On - 161 - @30s - 152 - @10min - 117 So the Olight is brighter and the runtime difference on high is 2 min, which is insignificant. On low, the Skilhunt runs at 11 lumens for 7.5 hours and the Olight runs at 8.5 lumens for 13.5 hours. Olight tends to understate their figures, where most manufacturers tend to overstate. Without actually testing the lights one can't be sure what's correct. *edit - The same holds true of the E2A, where 1lumen was only able to measure 328lm with the 14500 cell, not the 600lm that was advertised. The m200 has gotten better with it's claims, but the candela difference between the two results in a whole 2 meters throw because, again, Skilhunt is slightly overexaggerating the light's performance and Olight is underexaggerating. At startup, turbo is 8,938 vs 8,800 on the two lights. At high, the Skilhunt has a slight brightness and 10m throw advantage... but the Olight runs 40% longer at virtually the same brightness.

I agree with many of your points and I only have one skillhunt M150 V3 light and really like it, but you seem to be very biased toward candela. A thrower is great, but a flood is more useful in most of my daily uses. One thing I’d like skillhunt to add is the auto off timer. I use it most nights when I go to bed. I would like Olight to offer more neutral, high CRI emitters and the choosable turbo, medium and ultra low are nice, but a bit of a gimmick if you ask me, although it does allow one light to fit different preferences. I always want the lowest moonlight and the highest turbo. One other big negative for me with the skillhunt which you mentioned is the charging port opposite and a similar size and feel to the switch. This is a much bigger issue for me that it appeared to be for you. In conclusion, I think all 3 lights you compared were a wash between each other. One consideration is build quality. I view Olight as having a slightly better quality, but skillhunt is close with a lower price. I also don’t care at all about different battery uses in the lights, so I don’t consider that important to me. I welcome the competition to push Olight to make improvements and I will buy more skillhunt lights as well. Thanks for your input. Sorry for the long response. I appreciate your thoughts.

One thing I have found, owning both brands, is that the Skilhunt’s center pin on the magnetic charging port (on the light itself) will rust extremely easily if you get it wet. This doesn’t happen with my Olight or my Armytek lights. Not sure why this happens, but it’s pretty annoying to have to clean the charging port with vinegar every time the light has been submerged for a length of time.

I agree reading off the specs instead of side by side comparisons in actual use isn't very helpful. Many manufacturers way over exaggerate their numbers or runtimes. I have only owned one Skilhunt, the H04 RC Headlamp (519a Tir lens). Very nice color and beam but put in my backpack and didnt use for maybe a month or longer. Tried to use and nothing, check battery and it was fine, swapped cells, cleaned threads etc and still couldn't get the light to turn on. Was about to give up on the light and contact warranty support but as a last effort got a pair of pliers and pulled/stretched the battery spring out and now it works. However I never dropped it and barely used it. Made me question their quality or durability. Also seeing how they only offer 2 years warranty doesn't give me a lot of confidence in their quality. By contrast Olight offers great customer service and lifetime warranty. Lots of their lights over perform their specs. Olights, Fenixs, Surefires etc I've had great luck with but my one Skilhunt experience has left me with mixed feelings about the light. If you want excellent quality and no nonsense warranty Olight or Fenix are great. If you want good quality and very wallet friendly prices Wurkkos or Sofirn are hard to beat. If you want customizability and specific leds, tints, drivers etc Emisar or Noctigan are amazing lights. Nitecore seems to be pushing boundries of performance and Zebralights are very high quality and efficient lights. I'm not sure where Skilhunt falls in this spectrum. They don't offer near the customizable options of Emisars, dont offer lifetime warranties or efficiency of Olight and nowhere near the value proposition of like Wurkkos and Sofirn.

olight is the only one I have seen take a hit from a shotgun (buck) and be totally fine with dents. I EDC a warrior3, but outside that, I dont think I use olight for any other flashlight need. The proprietary charger and batteries kill it as an "only light I use". If they threw a USB-C on the battery itself (keeping the mag charger as well) and if the full-press on the tail DIDNT lock out when the light is locked, they would be perfect, but they really like their proprietary crap and it doesnt look like it is changing...so I have been shopping around. I still love my olights, but i'll flip if someone else does it better. I dont think these do it for me, but they also are not replacing anything for me (I dont have my Baton anymore). Olight for EDC. RovyVon for Keychain lights. Hanklight(or other fancy Anduril multi-emitter things) for house lights. Wurkkos in the vehicles/bags. Thanks for the vid! Always good to be on the lookout for alternatives. I dont think these dethrone olight for EDC, but it is great seeing competition in that class!

What you have said makes you sound like a die hard fanboy because to prove what you have said is true you have to do a scientific experiment by comparing the Olight flashlight with another flashlight which has a similar output then turn on both flashlights for the same amount of time and after a few years compare the performance degradation of the two flashlights the more samples you use the more legitimate your data will be. But if we use the reviews on 1lumen, Zeroair, BLF and several other sites that have been reviewing flashlights from various brands for years as a reference, then we can conclude that the Olight flashlight is not the best, both in terms of performance and efficiency.

I see the Neutral White which I strongly prefer is again available. Just use a discount code or try for a sale. At least at the moment, just ignore the blandishments of the pretty colors which are NOT available in neutral white, and go for the black NW. I have been daily carrying this right angled flashlight/headlamp since I go it. The ability of the headband to accept the clip is a big plus for use as an EDC. Other pluses are the return of NW, a battery level indicator, and a red function. It has a hot spot, giving it more candela.

@@tobjectpascal Why should a 90CRI light not be allowed to get you home? I've just bought a 3rd Pokelit while they are on good offer and I got a Rider RX earlier also which strangely is more expensive but with worse run times. Yes I like the neutral white Pokelit but for outdoors my 1000 lumen pure white, CRI probably low?, TrustFire L2 or even MC1 is a better job. The High CRI especially the i5r are more like a novelty light rather than something really practical but nice as an alternative if you ever want a sort of warm pastel shades effect lol. I also got an i5t Plus and I like the more vibrant beam tone from that over the 90CRI i5r as the Plus just seems to make things pop a bit more otherwise they seem very similar, the Plus just slightly cooler. I still use my blueish Tool AA for reading as it makes any graphics look great (and is a good bedside table tail stander if careful) but so does the Pokelit though it's a strange torch having a moonlight mode but then no low mode? Still, If I had to start again I would be fine with a Pokelit mostly for indoors and the 2 Trustfires for either indoors or out. No Olight at all though they are ok but generally a bit of a let down in terms of performance compared to other brands in the AA/14500 size and I think they should really up their game a bit sharpish. They got the build great but then went soft on the actual performances. Tonight I took the i5t Plus and Pokelit outside to compare and the smaller Pokelit actually seems the brighter of the two, maybe as it's a bit cooler though they are both supposedly 5000k? and it is not as diffuse a beam as the i5. I do sort of like them all though as they are all a variation on the theme with different strengths and weaknesses and outright output is the Olight weakness.

Thanks for the reviews. I’m late to the video so all I can say is that I’m lucky I wasn’t looking for a flashlight of the 3 sizes you showed because Olight just had their anniversary sale and I would have been bummed if I bought one of those proprietary battery lights. The Olight website is kind of a mess to me and I don’t think I would have caught that distinction.

Interesting. Personally i go to an unaffiliated party (such as the torque test channel) for actual lumen/candela ratings. Olight advertising 500 candela, the other 1100. Of course Olight may actually make 50, the other may make 25? Companies advertise very unrealistic numbers. I dont trust motor oil and filters to 20,000 miles as advertised, nor do I believe a car audio amplifier from wal mart that cost 49.99 makes 10,000 watts.

In my honest opinion, the only thing Olight does significantly better than other brands is the aesthetics. Every Olight has always just looked hot in the same way that a luxury car does. Shame they don't live up to their appearance and price in performance, especially the "QOL" stats like tint and CRI. Only three Olights have properly stood out to be by performance, they are the H2R Nova NW, M2R Pro and the Marauder Mini.

Skillhunt seems to be good but the price plus transport for China make them very close to Olight price. and i can get an Olight in max 2 days while a Skillhunt will be delivered in 2-3 weeks. for beatable (at work) flashlights i pick Sofirn that are really cheaper and also delivered in 1-2 days. but the quality and finish is noticeable below Olight or any other big name.

I'm not the biggest fan of high CRI buttery light effect but that they are not designed to properly take advantage of standard 14500s is very bad indeed and Olight don't care because we all bought them anyhow like the idiots we are, except you who gets them for free but you did warn us to be fair.

I have the skilhunt E2A and the M150 v3 and they're both excellent. I've had some real stimkers regarding emitters with olights, some were very green which I hate. Thankfully I sold them off, very undewhelming compared to other upcoming brands like sofrin, wurkkos, and skilhunt. Olight is decent for the freebies though, ive got a whole drawer full of their small lights. But I love the nichia 512 emitter choices on skilhunt. I would say the build quality feels as good as olight on the 2 I have- the M150 and E2A. The sofrins not quite as good but good and great prices. But the latest wurkkos mini thrower TS11 is built like a tank, cool white but no greenish tint 😉 did like olight when I first started getting into flashlights, but have since moved on exceot for the freebies. Much more interesting stuff from other manufacturers, like rovyvon and nitecore too. And they've all caught up to olight in quality imo.

Would love to know if you have any recommendations right now. Cheers!

Magnetic charging is great for EDC but not for extended use in my experience.

@@bahjinelson3986 it is really great light. My was really abused in the last time and now has scratches and dents but after all this, works with no issues whatsoever. Build quality on this thing is top notch. @Maxlvledc is over reacting. UI is ok, is just opposite to most lights, but not all of them, lumintop d2 and d1 have similar UI. For fenix users and normal people (not flashoholics and edc nuts) it's not existing problem. Am I sometimes holding switch on this light when I want to change brightness? Absolutely. Yes. 🤣🤣 But still, this light is one tough mf, with amazing reliability and on top of that fenix has great warranty.

Olight is very unsympathetic for me right out of the gate with their propriatary batteries. I vape and have tons of powerful 18650s and chargers, so the magnetic thingy is moot too. I am fairly new to edc flashlights and bought a Sofirn sc32 some months ago, very nice recommendation from you. A few days ago i got a Emisar d4v2 from Hank and this thing is just bonkers, relatively cheap, highly customisable and very powerful, also very well made. With Anduril 2 it speaks to my inner tinker and i love this light, its a hotrod, i bet it blows both of those lights out of the water, easy. Please get a d4v2, or the d4sv2 with 21700s, those are as nerdy as it gets.

Still trying to find something that can come close to replacing my Baton 3. I really wish they still had the SR1 Turbo S. It was perfection with a kiss when it came to a compact EDC flashlight. Pocketclip could be rotated in any direction so the button wouldn't wear a hole in it from rubbing against the inside of your pocket, the clip had great retention and locked up perfectly with my m-lok rails on my ARs. It could take standard CR123s... I'm endlessly frustrated with the new style olight pocket clips (baton 3 I'm looking at you) and their proprietary batteries.

So a couple of things about the first two lights as I own both, The size difference is mostly about thermal mass. I have the High CRI version of the Skillhunt and I find that the slightly less efficient emitter can get a little warmer and the Olight with the cooler emitter and higher thermal mass stays cooler for longer. Now the temperature the Skillhunt gets to is nowhere high enough to be a problem, but thats most likely why Olights light is bigger. the other notable difference I've found is that the Olight has much better threads. My Skillhunt kinda grinds when I screw it in and unscrew it. And finally the Skillhunt can actually come apart to lube the threads where as the Olight does not. You gently pull it while twisting to the left to pull the head off the Skillhunt and use a good silicone lube. I wear the Skillhunt on a 550 cord necklace with a lumitop GITD diffuser on it daily and I don't even notice I'm wearing it.
